I'm not kidding, so if you'll give me a serious answer. 1.Flash is still Flash. For now, there seems to be no strong man to succeed him. 2.Women gamer I'm not much interested in. I'm only interested in male gamers. But if you give me an answer. I still don't think there's a woman gamer beyond "Tossgirl." This will be agreed upon by most Korean fans, too.

It's as if you're saying "sagi" because there is an imbalance. However, "Flash" was able to get to the top of the list because he worked several times harder than other gamers.

With Brood War being so popular obviously, SC2 and Warcraft 3 to varying degrees. Do Koreans play a lot of other RTS games and would welcome another popular one, or do they just love Brood War as a game more than just the genre. Thanks for doing this, it’s hard for us foreigners to get insight due to the language/cultural barriers

Although the KSL season lasted from 1 ~ 3 in a leisurely manner. The KSL season 4 has been too tight in schedule compared to other seasons.

The reason is that Korean children are not interested in Starcraft 1. Because I am more interested in Overwatch, Apex Legend, and League of Legend. However, current professional gamers cannot keep up with their skills by practicing for a short period That's why I think Starcraft will last longer. for at least ten years

This is because it is the game that best suits the sentiments of Koreans in my own personal opinion. StarCraft 1 is not going to go to hell in Korea. Better to replace Starcraft 1. If there is an RTS genre game that suits Korean tastes, the story may be different. But the reason why StarCraft 1 didn't go down in Korea. Another problem that happens whenever updates about the Korean players and fans are very angry. Also, as mentioned above, there's a rumor going around that the KSL is the last season. Blizzard made no mention of this. Many Korean StarCraft 1 fans think the KSL has a right to know if the season 5 is held or not. They don't talk about this part.

You said that Korean children are not interested in Starcraft 1. My question is, has there been ANY noticeable amount of new Starcraft fans in Korea who started playing only in the recent years? It seems like Starcraft 1 is still being played a bit in the PC bangs. Or are most of those people old fans?

If I may ask what are the Korean tastes and what kind of games suit that? It is very difficult to explain. One thing for sure. A game that suits Korean tastes may or may not be all games. For example StarCraft 1 was successful, but Warcraft and StarCraft 2 were shunned. The League of Legend succeeded, but Dota was turned away. Fortnite is world famous, but not very famous in Korea. (even though there was a big ad) The overwatch succeeded, but the counterstrike was turned away. In Korea, however, a game similar to counterstrike called Sudden Attack is very popular and many people are playing. However, there have always been successful cases of games that were ignored. Warcraft is "Moon" Jang Jae-ho. StarCraft 2 is many gamers such as "Maru" , "Soo" , "Dary" , "TY". tekken is "knee," etc. And Dota2 is "MVP Phoenix" Team and Counterstrike's "MVP Project" team. In many fields, Korean players are proving their competitive edge enough. I think Games to suit Korean taste I think most games have a little luck. When the League of Legend became famous in Korea, It was when StarCraft 1 was losing its popularity. Overwatch has also become another option for gamers who have been playing both the League of Legend and Starcraft.

I always felt that back in the very early days of SC2 (2010-2012) that the Korean Under-18 crowd chose League of Legends en masse instead of StarCraft 2, and this along with the 2010 matchfixing scandal in Brood War severely stifled the long-term growth of the Korean SC2 scene, putting it in the situation it is now. I would be curious to know if there is any kind of favoritism for Riot Games over Blizzard if indeed there is an air of anger & dissatisfaction from Korean games towards Blizzard.

Now that I'm already posting, a question came to me. How do Koreans view the foreign scene? Like, are they thinking "what is wrong with these chobos" or have recent appearances by Eonzerg, Dewalt, and Cadenzie in Korea increased the interest in the foreign scene? Anything you can share

There are a lot of bad StarCraft 1 fans compared to the past. I don't think you'll be much of a help to get into the site. In fact, there are quite a few of the gamers and fans who don't use Ygosu. I hope that some retired pros will give their replays to the community. Replays are an incredible resource. They are people who make money with their skills and skills. It is likely to be a difficult problem.

I would be curious to know if there is any kind of favoritism for Riot Games over Blizzard if indeed there is an air of anger & dissatisfaction from Korean games towards Blizzard. What you say is really accurate.

Like, are they thinking "what is wrong with these chobos" or have recent appearances by Eonzerg, Dewalt, and Cadenzie in Korea increased the interest in the foreign scene? Anything you can share Korean gamers and fans don't care much about foreigners' skills. I would be interested if there was a player in a foreign country comparable to "Flash." But I am interested when they come to Korea and broadcast. Actually, "Dewalt" and "Eonzerg" have lived and aired in Korea. At that time, they and Korean gamers played a lot of games.

2nd question. It seems like proleague format spon match takes place during the prime time every day with top players (usually 4v4 or 5v5). But it's not enough place sometimes for all current top skilled broadcasters. How do they select(recruit) players? And those who arent taken in, do they get disappointed because of that?

But it's not enough place sometimes for all current top skilled broadcasters. How do they select(recruit) players? And those who arent taken in, do they get disappointed because of that? => The criteria for the selection of competitors are as follows: 1. Interracial balance. ex ) 5:5 = 4T 3P 3Z or 3T 4P 3Z, etc. 2. The players' game skills. Players who are not selected naturally feel sad. But they don't have to do it because the players who aren't chosen get together and play another game. There is nothing wrong with it.

Thank you for coming here! I have a lot of questions=). 1.Do you believe a team league could ever start again? 2. Is there interest from old sponsors to for example sponsor just a player? Ever any rumors about old sponsors from the Kespa years? For example, KT to sponsor Flash again? Do you think Afreeca be okay with that on their streams? (My hope here is that if top players got big sponsors back, perhaps teams could be started around them) 3. When KT changed name to KT Fingerboom. Was it funny to koreans? Did people think it sounded like something sexual? Also, if I go to Seoul again is there any place I can go to buy jackets from old pro teams(I was a Khan fan. love Stork). 4. Are there famous starcraft1 related jokes/ sayings that are used in Korea by more than just fans? Like, Firebathero throwing socks, or that incident on Bnet attack with Hwasin when someone wrote "sexsexpussyhair"...? 5. Has Rain talked about his match against Light in the KSL finals? 6. Flash and Jaedong still has fans. But does new players get fans? 7. How does the Afreeca chat react if a good Korean player loses to a foreigner on stream? 8. What did the korean commentators say during Light vs Rain when the game looked like a bugged replay? 9. Does Korean Starcraft players want a 2v2 ranked ladder? Do they go to Blizzard forums when they want to give information about a problem in the game or for example 2v2 ladder? 10. I've been to Seoul 2 times, I want to go there again. Is there anything you would recommend to a Starcraft fan to do in Korea?

How do you describe "the best" player? (like flash) Gosu not (it's general for all very good player), page 1 word (i dont want to name it) not. Are you allowed to look into flash's eyes, when he would see it? Ok let me explain, I know it's bold to look at someone too long in korea, especially someone of higher status, age, perhaps gender. Do you think Afreeca be okay with that on their streams? (My hope here is that if top players got big sponsors back, perhaps teams could be started around them) = I think that is unlikely. When companies sponsor games. Consider the image of the game. He had a pretty good image at the time of the pro league. I even made a military game team. (Air force ACE) But they had a lot of incidents, including match fixing. I think it's hard to get any more investment. I think they would be happier to stay at Afreecatv.com 3. When KT changed name to KT Fingerboom. Was it funny to koreans? Did people think it sounded like something sexual? Also, if I go to Seoul again is there any place I can go to buy jackets from old pro teams(I was a Khan fan. love Stork). = Their goods are no longer available. Because there is no place to buy things. 4. Are there famous starcraft1 related jokes/ sayings that are used in Korea by more than just fans? Like, Firebathero throwing socks, or that incident on Bnet attack with Hwasin when someone wrote "sexsexpussyhair"...? = There is no more famous anecdote than the two events. The events were Legend. 5. Has Rain talked about his match against Light in the KSL finals? = We didn't talk about it in the final. Since then, there have been comments made on personal broadcasts. He said. I felt that "Light" has practiced a lot. Since I didn't practice much, my judgment was clouded throughout the game. I'm sorry to be the runner-up. I don't care much because I'm not the one to dwell on the past. 6. Flash and Jaedong still has fans. But does new players get fans? = I don't think there will be a new player. Even if there are new players, there won't be many fans. But for example, players like "Fantasy", "TY" , "Stats" , "Maru" and "Soo" who are currently active in StarCraft 2. If they retire from StarCraft 2 and do StarCraft 1 personal broadcast on "Afreecatv.com" there will be many fans. 7. How does the Afreeca chat react if a good Korean player loses to a foreigner on stream? = They will have a lot of concern for the foreign players. And will continue to arrange a game. Chatting may be... I think there are chats that tease the gamer who lost to the foreigner. And there will be chatting that is surprising to the appearance of foreigners with good skills. 8. What did the korean commentators say during Light vs Rain when the game looked like a bugged replay? = It's hard to answer because I don't understand your question. Because I am not fluent in English. You have to ask questions in detail to answer them. I'm sorry. 9. Does Korean Starcraft players want a 2v2 ranked ladder? Do they go to Blizzard forums when they want to give information about a problem in the game or for example 2v2 ladder? = They want not only 2vs2 but also 3vs3 4vs4. But Blizzard doesn't listen. Yeah, like what you say they are on Blizzard Forum are completed. 10. I've been to Seoul 2 times, I want to go there again. Is there anything you would recommend to a Starcraft fan to do in Korea? = First of all, competition is open to the public think it essential. Their high quality that watching a live game is quite meaningful. Also, it would be good to go in the museum. sports e Probably know where if you can look up what you can.

For example, soma vs best on KSL4 map Overwatch, main base 3rd hatchery was extraordinary build opening and that is taught by yoon. You'll be playing on RT 20. Most of Korea is played on RT 8 to 4. That is why Koreans seem to be in a bad mood.

What is Kal (goojila) doing now? How do korean fans feel about the KSL compared to the ASL? Foreign fans here seem to be glad that it exists but wish that it had more interesting maps. Has jaedong ever talked about his experience on Team 8? His results were never as good once Hwaseung disbanded. Has he ever talked about why he started to lose a lot of ZvZs in his last year of the kespa/team 8 era? Jaedong seems to be effectively retired? I don't think he's streamed in a while and he didn't even try to qualify for KSL4. Has he announced if he's going to the military soon? Or why he has stopped streaming? For instance wrist health or just lack of motivation? Was last really harassed a lot online by jaedong fans after the KSL1 finals? Who do korean fans consider to be the best protoss player ever? It seems like it should be bisu but his lack of starleague success since the Clubday MSL make it hard to say, especially with stork being a lot more consistent and jangbi winning the last 2 OSLs.

Is that because they're fans from when he was on STX? Or are they are newer fans because of his streaming personality? Was he that popular during the kespa days? = All three are right. He has been popular since his pro career under the nickname "Brain Zerg." Also, many people watch his personal broadcast because it is fun. And there are fans of STX. What is Kal (goojila) doing now? = He quit his private broadcast and works for a company. How do korean fans feel about the KSL compared to the ASL? Foreign fans here seem to be glad that it exists but wish that it had more interesting maps. = The KSL is a competition where many top gamers do not participate. The reason is because I broadcast in Twich. This is because the KSL's regulation does not allow the replay to be shown to viewers as a personal broadcast. But that's what makes gamers competitive. It is a competition called the hope of the minor leagues. Has jaedong ever talked about his experience on Team 8? His results were never as good once Hwaseung disbanded. Has he ever talked about why he started to lose a lot of ZvZs in his last year of the kespa/team 8 era? = He foresaw that the pro league would be abolished during the short eight game period. Also, not all Team 8 were practicing hard. They were all said to have been motivated and not practiced properly because they thought the professional league would be abolished. Jaedong seems to be effectively retired? I don't think he's streamed in a while and he didn't even try to qualify for KSL4. Has he announced if he's going to the military soon? Or why he has stopped streaming? For instance wrist health or just lack of motivation? = He did a private broadcast yesterday. Was last really harassed a lot online by jaedong fans after the KSL1 finals? = Fans of "Jaedong" are highly conscious. So it seems that their fans didn't curse "Last." Who do korean fans consider to be the best protoss player ever? It seems like it should be bisu but his lack of starleague success since the Clubday MSL make it hard to say, especially with stork being a lot more consistent and jangbi winning the last 2 OSLs. = I agree with you. "Stork," "jangbi," and "Bisu" are all always considered the best protoss players. But personally, I think Bisu, the pioneer of "P vs. Z," is a better gamer.

To be honest, I don't know the list you showed me. After all, their recognition, their achievements, and career-highs, must support them. There's a lot of talk about who's actually the best protoss gamer in Bisu, JangBi and Stork. Among them, many people think Bisu is the best because he was a pioneer who changed the paradigm of Z vs. P. To be honest, given the list you mentioned, How many of Zerg amateur's TOP 5 do you think are memorable? Many foreigners. No, not only foreigners but also Koreans think of Zerg amateur, but mostly "Soma" and "Zelot." I think he knows the degree of "iffy." Amateurs will have different opinions. I know that "Scan" you have a great deal of awareness among foreigners. Because you were communicating with foreigners through Twitch. I would like to introduce Korean amateurs to foreigners. "Zerg" amateurs thought "Soma," "Zelot" and "Pitbulterrier" were appropriate. Because, as I said, "Soma" doesn't need to be explained. "Zelot" is the most visible player in the recent ASL. "Pitbulterrier" won the amateur league hosted by "Bisu" and passed on what you said was "12 pool opening" to "Soma." I particularly appreciated this part. Because the process of "Soma" struggling with Terran's "111"build, the process of anger. One day, in the midst of a sudden and repeated defeat, I kept trying "2Hatchery Mutal" and finally changed the paradigm of "T vs. Z," all watching live. I appreciated the work of "Pitbullterrier." And when I introduce Terran Amateur, I thought #1 Shinee, #2 Byul, #3 Scan. But "Scan" you've only recommended "Bishop" because you've already been a known player to many foreigners. He has recently been doing well against "Shinee" and said "Light" is also a tough opponent in a showdown with "Bishop." Frankly speaking, I agree that the strongest Protoss amateurs are "KEH." But I don't want to introduce him to foreigners when I think of his personality. So I excluded it. The same goes for "P Sang-hyun, Kim Han-byul." They were actually mentioned in gamers' voice chatting and picked as amateurs to be ignored along with "KEH." Even "Kali" has been told that the ACS and ASL will not be able to participate in the game in the future as circumstantial evidence of illegal gambling has been detected. I don't want to judge players by their skills alone. No matter how good the players are, if they fail to prove themselves in a competition, it will be meaningless. But if I were to rank it, Shinee, Bishop, and Byul. In fact, Shinee and the other two have wide gaps. Protoss's "KEH" shows the wrong personality and is being slaughtered on Starcraft 1. On the other hand, "Mighty" has grown in a great way, showing a good side in the "Starcraft end-of-life war" "KEH" is only playing king in the dark. That's why I decided that 'Mighty' is a better player. Yeah, I know about KEH's issue. vmqkf also has been doing well recently, but he told me he's planning to switch to teamplay fastest someday. yoon also performed badly on bisu's tourney just like me. However people who are playing competitive, they know what's hidden in the back. ZeLoT also admits yoon is 한수위(one step) ahead of him. For example, soma vs best on KSL4 map Overwatch, main base 3rd hatchery was extraordinary build opening and that is taught by yoon. Overall, career and what's showing on competition, Soma, ZeLoT, Shinee are the truth strong players. rest of them are still working on it or not interested to play competitive scene. I agree with you in general. But I have a question. As far as I know, the "2Hatchery Mutal" build order at T vs. Z was informed by "Pitbulterrier" to "soma." It is more accurate because he mentioned it in person. That "2Hatchery Mutal" changed the paradigm of T vs. Z. Many of the top players, including "Zero" and "Action," also sought advice on "Soma"dprp "2Hatchery Mutal." So what is the contribution of "Pitbuller"? If you are talking about 12 pool opening vs terran, that might be true because i've seen Pitbull doing 12 pool opening vs terran long ago. Current ZvT Guardian Hydra opening is inspired by me(I'm Scan) and taught ZeLoT about this build 6 months ago. You can confirm with him as you feel like to. This is what I found on ygosu and how people see player's strength in order. English translation of the list. + Show Spoiler + 저그 1. Soma 2. 9MutaL[HyO] 3. yoon 4. Yerim2(aka: nongminzerg TSL2) 5. Also, I think it is quite shameful to introduce a gamer with a bad personality just because he is good at it. The Korean proverb says, "As rice ripens, it bows down." No matter how good they are, they mean nothing if they can't prove it at the competition and don't have courtesy. I got the list from ygosu when i searched "아마추어." I don't know every single drama of amateurs that were made in the past, but I agree with you that players who have shown bad reputation should not be mentioned. Currently Bishop seems doing well with his TvT and he is able to compete vs Shinee (although I only saw 1 game on sylphid). That's a one good step to start with but beating one specific player doesn't mean he has significantly improved. We'll need to watch his improvement more and see his plays in the tournament. Pitbull is doing great, he said he's going to put all of his effort in SC before he gets too old and stops playing SC early 2019. He would like to achieve something just like what Soma did for past 2 years. btw, what do you mean of this sentences? Show nested quote + But "Scan" you've only recommended "Bishop" because you've already been a known player to many foreigners. He has recently been doing well against "Shinee" and said "Light" is also a tough opponent in a showdown with "Bishop." I know his reputation well because I've been listening to it. Sadly, he didn't do a personal broadcast, so he left it off the list. If he did a private broadcast, of course he'd be on the list. same goes for Park Jae-hyun.

The advertising companies look into the TV audience in a completely different manner than what they see in the Internet broadcasts viewer count. The way viewers got engaged is vastly different. TV is mainstream. Twitch/afreeca are underground. The big companies are tempted to invest in TV ads hundreds of times more than in internet broadcasts. Not comparable at all. On the internet, you have control of what you see - if you don't like something you just close the tab and move to the next thing. On the TV you don't have control. Sure you can switch the channel, but the number of channels is finite - the chance of getting back to the show and continue watching it after the ads (for example) is incomparable.

Satellite broadcasting would be the case when people need to broadcast all over the world at once like Fifa World Cup, Olympic, any other big sports event. Terrestrial broadcasting is an another word for public broadcasting that anyone can have access to watch on TV. EX) SBS, KBS, MBC, EBS and so on. I was able to watch ASL S6 S7 on TV channel somewhere like 'SPOTV Games' and probably because Afreeca signed the contract with KT Giga Internet w/e they have done with. I personally watched nOOB taking out Mong on Sylphid on TV, not internet broadcasting. Back to the question Jealous asked, I think he's talking about public broadcasting.

TV providers had vastly different subscriptions and services overall then what it is today. Internet broadcasting was not available at all, there wasn't youtube even... This whole thing is not like comparing apples to oranges, it's like comparing elephants to apples.

Lets compare it to how it is in the USA: Terrestial/Free-to-air - ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, PBS Cable - ESPN, FX, Comedy Central, MTV, HBO, Showtime In that case, Korea would be like; Terrestial/Free-to-air - KBS/KBS2, MBC, SBS, EBS Cable - OGN, JTBC, SPOTV With how subscription packages are done these days and technological advances, you can pretty much access cable channels through IPTV and vice versa. Back in the day, I remember MBCgame was the only 'esports' channel that was accessible through satellite in Korea (Skylife) which is why it had a wider outreach than OnGameNet.

You mentioned that many pros don't like the websites sharing replays. Reps indeed reveal a lot. But I don't understand why the pros are okay with FPVs such as online streaming? Aren't they revealing as much as replays, if not more?

But I don't understand why the pros are okay with FPVs such as online streaming? Aren't they revealing as much as replays, if not more? Replays reveal more and are far easier to study in my opinion. I understand why pros don’t want their replays circulating, but it would be nice just to have a bunch of replays for the most standard builds for each matchup. Like 3 hatch vs 5rax +1, or 2 hatch vs goliath, etc. nothing tricky or valuable, just the most standard.

Here on TL it circulated the version that he left BW because he was goin to dedicate himself to his family business. But the other day I was playing with a korean friend and he told me another version. That after coming back from military he lied to his fans about the reason why he was not going to compete in some tournament and then the fans got really mad at him and started kind of bullying him and then he kind of went away. I also wanted to know how much of all that is accurate.

If the other party is reluctant to disclose the replay, it cannot. And it is because all of his game style is revealed. They go through many competitions, including ASL and KSL. So they may not want to share the replay.
