the terran lineup on afreeca has always been incredible solid and dominant if u payed attention like before the time effort/jaedong/soulkey cameback to bw the lineup was simple more packed and of a higher tier pro gamers so just for anyone else if you wish to draw conclusions from this try to make an in depth analysis not just looking at a few ranks on a ladder

If you compare the ASL map to other map pools have done worse, how can you tell which is more balanced?
Edit: Honest question, I'm not trying to lead you into a trap. Unless player skills are glaringly disparate, player skill (resp. map balance) can only be evaluated when map balance (resp. player skill) is known, right?

Which only proves race balance is not inherent and universal but a result of the popular map pool, which currently is still heavily leaning towards FS, which is a Terran-favoured map, and CB, which is not bad for Terran, at the very least.
Would be interesting to see what would happen if Blizzard kicked those two and added the ASL maps instead (and Outlier, Central District and Battle Royale on top, to really get the ball rolling).
Player skill levels and map balance cannot really both be judged at the same time. It's a bit like the Heisenberg uncertainty principle. Trying to measure the one will always interfere with the other. However, given a large enough player pool it is probably safer to assume that skill levels are evenly distributed and that map statistics with significant numbers of games can therefore be used to assess map balance.
And in comes the "but more skilled or ambitious players are more likely to play the more challenging race (Terran)"-argument. But I don't think there is actually any evidence to back this up.

Yes please! Lets balance BW with the same principle we balance sc2! 30% top ladder distribution for every race and equal tournament performance! Trust Blizzard in balancing this!

Part of the reason this is true is that Terran streamers are likely the most active outside of Bisu, Larva and JD.
Flash must have like 10 accounts in the Top 50 too.

The numbers are shocking, but people can own multiple accounts which makes it less relevant. The game is still constantly changing, with new strategies and meta's. The bio->factory transition in TvZ that was super "overpowered" in 2017 is barely used anymore. Protoss are having more success with aggressive reaver plays, Zerg are finally utilizing burrow, queens, devours etc.
The game has changed a lot in the last year, and the last two ASL/KSL's were won by zerg. Keep tweaking the maps for every season, it has worked for the last 20 years.

Using ladder to assess race balance is moronic. No pro player takes ladder seriously, and the ones that play the most end up on top, as opposed to the best ones.
You think pros bring their A game to ladder? You think they show their secret strats, like when Soulkey took a ninja 3rd in the KSL finals and transferred a ton of drones to trick Sharp? Of course not. They just do the bread and butter for fun, and do troll strats a lot.
Not to mention pros off-race on ladder all the time.

pros don't play much ladder since they have spons against other pros.
Why run ladder games and play with people much lower skill when they can play for showmatch spon matches for $$$ in competitive setting?
