I started playing Starcraft when the ladder was already gone, and I only learned later about ICCUP. I think having a regional rank is much cooler than the sc2 division style ladder.

1) US/NA has just one server 2) MOTW, if it exists, will impact only ladder points and not the actual matchmaking/rating. | ||

And by very surprised, I mean like drop the glass of water staring mouth agape at the screen surprised. I'm fully expecting to hone their matchmaking either with in house tests, in the 1.18 patches/PTR, or a combination of both. A BW:R release without matchmaking would be a huge mistake. | ||

And to be honest I think it affects those of us that are more familiar with the game the least. We've got lots of good people to practice with already, and even without matchmaking it's pretty easy to just avoid people with weaker records if you're getting a bunch of way to easy games from newer players flooding in. That said, it would still be nice to always have games on ladder with players in close proximity to your own skill. You'd always be able to practice against better/worse players outside of ladder just from knowing guys from TL/discord/etc. I just wish they'd give me a darn date, wanna organize a big statewide LAN... but right now I don't know if it will be out in July or in November. | ||

It's just common sense. They will delay the remastered launch date if for some reason matchmaking isn't ready. Blizzard isn't stupid they will take all the chances they can have for a proper initial launch. | ||

I hope they don't launch w/o ranked. It was pathetic there were 2 AAA RTS released in the last that shipped without ranked matchmaking for their games. I can't imagine Blizzard making the same mistake here since they're freaking advertising it right now. Worst possible scenario I can feasibly imagine a scenario where they'd want to patch free Starcraft w/ ladder along with the remaster and maybe something goes terribly wrong and they have to delay it., but knock on wood, I hope that doesn't happen. | ||

Also while I prefer the classic ladder system, I hope the matchmaking actually does kind of categorizes skill levels. I would love a ladder that matches me with people being kind of the same skill level - no matter if you call it "X Divison" or Rank ABCDE or whatever... Actually I picture it genius having total newcomers getting a fighting chance on ladder with matchmaking, while people who knew BW back in the day end up inbetween newcomers and "still pro" ^_^ | ||
