Are there plans-- or better question is this even technically possible, as im ignorant of these things -- for the match making to include some kind of feature to like, disclude players who's ping would end up being too inconvenient to play vs you?

I think a more practical implementation would be to have a "draw" option in the lobby; you both alt-tab and select "Draw - technical difficulties" or something in the lobby room and it exits the game for you.

Although even easier would be just to leave the game before the 2 minute mark when you sense lag and have those games not count towards Elo haha.

I guess when lag hits in the middle of the game, there is the first thing I suggested.

Well, the reason I was thinking that it would be useful to have the feature, is that we play within a fairly small community. What if i end up running into the same 2 dudes for like an hour and they're both peruvian (while within the match making process, perhaps a higher or lower skilled opponent that im preferentially not being matched with, would actually be a playable experience)? Lol

Ah, I see. That makes sense. I'm guessing though that if they are similarly alone at their Elo, they will also match with you three as well. But I get what you're saying now.

In the current matchmaking proposal, we evaluate the following elements:
- Veterancy (has the player played enough games to be matched against the general population?)
- Activity Status (more specifically, inactivity status)
- Ping
- Time in Queue
- Skill Rating Difference

All of these have different weights which culminate in a match quality rating. This rating helps determine whether to match you against someone with a 50ms ping but a moderate skill difference or someone with a 100ms ping but a minor skill difference.

Can we get an in-game timer? I didn't see anyone ask for it, so I'm not sure if that's a feature that's being worked on or even requested.

Seconded. I know one or more of the chaoslauncher plugins had this feature, so maybe it's not too crazy to implement?

In game timer and APM counter are features that you get used to fairly quickly while playing on fish or iccup, would certainly be nice to have those feature also available on shieldbattery (altought they shouldn't be a priority).

Earlier in the thread it was mentioned that matchmaking is almost done, but is not high on the implementation queue because of the fact that it is still closed beta and the population is too small to warrant it, if I recall correctly.

uhg, I sure hope mm comes sooner rather than later, I personally am waiting for mm to play shield battery, I always feel like I cannot get a good match normally.
