Before any BW finals, commentators always have interviews where they try and predict who will win. But they always do that so those are lame, and I came upon an interview of Iris and Hwasin on who they think will win in the upcoming OSL Finals.
Map 1 - Longinus 2
Yes, Savior is a "balance" breaker and he did bring up Zerg's winning percentage in this map, but nonetheless Terrans are still very confident in Longinus 2.
Hwasin thinks Savior will go with a rather drastic build such as 9 pool or 3 hat. He believes Nada will be the favorite if he keeps up his normal game and remain calm.
Iris thinks the key to the game will be early build orders. He believes if Savior doesn't gain a big advantage early in the game, Nada will win.
Map 2 - Neo Alkanoid (Spelling?)
While these two terran players feel confident about Longinus 2, they feel they are at a disadvantage in Neo Alkanoid.
Hwasin thinks unless Nada pulls some crazy shit to put Savior in a very bad position, Savior will rape Nada. He says looking at how Savior overcame early difficulties in a Neo Alkanoid game in the 3rd Superfight, Savior is the favorite for this map.
Iris also thinks Savior will win unless Nada comes with some unexpected stunt up his sleeve. He says the map is designed to the zerg's favor even if the zerg carries out a defensive game.
Map 3 - Reverse Temple
Both players think that whatever happens, RT is an "okay" map for Terrans. Therefore they predict Nada will take this map with ease.
Hwasin thinks if the game becomes a long one, Nada will win easily. He believes Terrans have the advantage in Reverse Temple.
Iris thinks likewise. He says regardless of starting positions, Terran is the favorite and it would be very hard for Savior to win.
Map 4 - HitchHiker
The two terrans believe Hitchhiker is a difficult map for terrans and Savior will beat Nada on this map.
They say if the zerg is allowed to upgrade to hive units, there is nothing the terran can do to stop his opponent. They believe in order for Nada to win, he must come prepared with an early game strat that will finish the game before Savior can go hive. They think if the terran goes the basic build order and takes nat, Nada will 100% lose.
In all, the two players predict a classic match since both players deserve to be there.
Hwasin says if Nada wants to take home the title, he must shutout Savior 3:0. If the game goes on to the 5th game, he believes Savior will be crowned champion.
Iris believes both players have a 50/50 chance of winning. And if Longinus 2 is played in the first and last match, Savior is the slight favorite.

Has the actual map order not been announced yet?

Thx, nice read. What I don't understand is this:

Iris probably thinks that although at disadvantage, Savior can win at least once on Longinus. Or maybe he knows something about a strategy we don't know.
Cool interview, nice insights, we'll see if they were right soon :p

Sorry mistranslation. "Nada will win" - > "Nada stands a chance" It's been a while : )

thank you very much, sir!

I pretty much agree with them.Except I'm actually worried about longinus cause savior really does win all his games on there lol

can someone explain why T>Z on longinus? they have expand with gas, big center for flank and even that expands with the double gas which is like 2 expands in one for the zerg?

I don't have the map here, but from what i;ve seen, i think its the fact that everything is so close on this map is the main problem + the elevation in the centre favours terran. And if you expand on a double gas base he can either take it down on his way to your main, or you can take his double gas, which is also dangerous.
|
Yea I don't really get it either. Maybe longinus 1 was imba but on 2 but when I play tvz on longinus I don't feel like I have any type of advantage. Only difference I notice is that there are 2 gases @ nat and z's only need 3 lurks to stop me from getting it.

thanks for your time, Sharp!!! great translation!

They're basically saying what we all know to be true... if saviour gets to hive you lose; maps that allow him to get to hive mean you lose.

Yarnc couldn't do anything but do some pretty aimless attacks. If he can pull that again against Savior I'm pretty sure he will win at least one game in Longinus.
not really, different z players make different decision in games. although fake yellow couldnt do anything doesnt mean savior cant either. game wont progress the same way nether will the decisions be the same. sc isnt just about micro and macro and insane apm. the decision u make in the game outweighs anything. the decision comes first, and thats what dictates what u doing afterwards like micro etc....

Source? It's obvious Nada is going to kick Savior's ass.

I agree with most of what they said, and I think that the deciding match will be Hitchhiker. If Nada gets lucky, he'll be winning 2-1 and pull off the final third game on this map. He'll get his revenge one way or another.

Thanks, nice read =], can't wait to see this omg !

GG.net posted this thread on their homepage. It would be nice for someone to translate the entire interview, word-for-word. Sharp did a good job, but it isn't as professionally done as HonestTea or many of the other Korean members here would have done.

The map is stressful for a zerg for the following reasons: -Terran may take his expansion at his will very safely considering it can be walled. -The wall when built with 8 rack will work such as proxy barrack. Distance between the "wall" barrack and zerg's exp will be closer. Thus, bunkering can come at any given moment. If 8 rack fails, terran can STILL expand very safely. -Once terran controls the center, its very hard for zerg to expand/defend anywhere. (This is also the reason, nydus canal is abused today by great zergs. Also, this is the reason Longinus II now gives 2 gases at the ramp exp to make better balance.)

The bases have 10 mineral patches. Zerg only puts 10-13 drones per bases while Toss/Terran puts around 25 for the best efficiency. As the game goes on, mineral patch doesn't affect much for zerg, but for terran and toss, it definitely gives more advantage giving them extra zealots/rines.
I heard that from a Korean commentator, the fat one.

I think sAviOr is pretty invincible on Neo Arkanoid. As on Hitchhiker I think NaDa should be able to take him, not sure about RT though since sAviOr is pretty good on that as well.

Thanks for the translation!
Presumably they interviewed the two semi finalists Savior beat... has the fight Iris put up added to his credibility in Korea? Are his views seen as credible in this interview?
