Agree!! Amazing play . Remember that control with a zergling vs a spider mine? One of the best moments ever ! Let me look for it right now !

This is the equivalent of 1.66 marines and 0.66 science vessels (or in a bit rounder numbers: about 2 marines plus more than half of 1 science vessel). Or it's 0.86 of the second infantry weapons/armor upgrade. Secondly, players often leave the science facility floating next to the natural base to spot mutalisks and later drops. Sending it into the base and returning it next to the natural is an option, but that's additional time and effort, and it temporarily increases vulnerability against drops, muta harassment, or stray scourges. Thirdly, the upgrade takes time to complete. 1 minute and ~45 seconds to be exact. So for almost two minutes these resources of 150/150 will be locked out of the game and therefore of no practical use until the upgrade is complete. That's a lot of time for a terran player who relies on pressure play with marines, vessels and dropships to win the game decisively.
The question is therefore not whether or not the energy upgrade is viable, but what is the relative cost and benefit. Science vessels in TvZ rarely reach full energy capacity, so the upgrade would only affect the readiness of fresh vessels. These fresh vessels will usually be sent out with exactly the right amount of energy for their first irradiate, because they're typically being used offensively. So for irradiate it doesn't really make sense. For additional defensive matrix's it could make sense. So is the cost of the energy upgrade justified? Does it lead to a greater winrate? I have a very hard time believing that. Each single unit is essential while terran is trying to bust the zerg defenses with as many m&ms, vessels and dropships as possible. I don't think the cost-benefit analysis works out.
Edit: This is regarding TvZ. In TvP the energy upgrade could make a lot of sense.
TvZ in late game if Terran has 3-4 gas it definitely makes sense to get the energy upgrade.150/150 isn't that much and you are going to be floating tons of resources anyway if it's SK Terran unless you're Flash or Light. But if it's a low resource game then of course it doesn't apply.
Using the science facility to spot for drops isn't really that common, I've seen it being floated randomly towards the zerg base than using it to spot for drops. Anyway if you are talking about SK Terran it's critical for T to have map control to spot for drops rather than a building, if T doesn't have map control it's going to be a losing game anyway.
I've seen pro Terrans getting it once in awhile but usually the game is so fast paced at the pro level that they just don't have the extra attention span to get the upgrade. Anyway at the end of the day it's more of a nice to have rather than a must have.
A blast from the past between two old rivals, we have the terrorist (Fantasy) vs the tyrant (Jaedong) ladder series! Video uploader said the match took place around July 10th so it's pretty recent. And it has been like more than a decade since these two play an official match against each other? But now we get a preview of their match before the Gamers8 event!

Royal's tvp is so weak. The real test should be Light.

Lol statistically light is a little better at TvP than royal and rush who are about even https://tl.net/forum/viewpost.php?post_id=28083749 . But royal is basically tied for 2nd best TvP in world until flash comes back for real... so I guess all terrans are weak besides light?
I think Mini is not that good at PvT. In that same table you can see he's at 50% vs both Royal and Rush, and 45% vs Light. It's just that he beat Royal 7-2 in the recent 9 game series which is more like a one off.
Snow is actually the outlier in PvT, I think in all history, thanks to his Reaver.
By the way, Last is back from military service. Takes him no time to start streaming again. Now trolling on ladder. I wonder if we can see some Snow vs Last ladder battle soon.

He mentioned on stream that he has no plans on ASL at the time because of an arm injury, but will consider it once he feels better.
