I really don't get why they are so insisted on having one turnrate for everyone.
Just do:
kr vs kr tr 16
same server vs same server tr12
different server tr8
Display the tr at the start of the game and we are good.

Any confirmation if a VPN would actually help? Id buy one too if it worked.
I know the sad feeling  there are like 0 popular chat channels so without ladder it feels cold and empty. Not to mention i miss the old bnet interface from BW

I kinda stop playing cause of ladder bugs waiting on fix want less bugs discs and lag etc also responsive menus just more efficient and commands working etc this is messy

Most people just organize stuff via discord these days. No one really does battle.net channels. There are quite a few large Brood War discords.

Discord is used heavily for games these days - from guilds/clans, to communities. It is a more convenient system to organize and get together with similar people. It also offers voice chat, and some games have added functionality (ie. You can instantly join someone's game from the discord app). For some games, it probably doesn't matter as much, but with games that have terrible chat interfaces or games that basically remove most of the social aspect of meeting people or even talking to them in-game (ie. I think it is very good for Brood War too, cause we are still a smaller community. Splitting up the foreign community in 5 different servers with less channel functionality than the original battle.net had is a joke. So long story short, I don't think there is ever going to be channels like the old school days. You are better off joining one of the Brood War discords if you're looking for people to active play/talk to.

Another smaller community for Brood War only. It has a porn channel, and basically that is the only channel that gets used. Whenever I post people get pissed at my pornographic taste and have to 'cleanse' the channel with traps.
Those are probably the main 4 "generalized" ones. There are discords for individual teams, for leagues (PATL comes to mind), and so much more. I am not in valar's, but valar has an awesome discord as well for beginners.

I signed up for mudfish to test it out. It's based on GB used so you can try like 50 gig or something for like 3 bucks.. I think it shaved off like 50 ms of ping if that..
In my experience from Australia it barely makes a difference. I'd love to hear from anyone who used a VPN that significantly improves things.

I'm going to give this a try as well and report back. I have the same feeling as Ret. Locked out of ladder because as soon as you apporach like 2100:ish MMR you are starting to hit koreans like 85% ++ of the time. It's stutterish as hell even on extra high latency and the koreans banter the whole god damn game and If they lose they just disconnect. Frustratring to say the least. The turn rate 12 change was enforced september the 14th, about a week later they changed to TR10, worked well for like 3 days, now it is horrible. I'm not sure what changed, I've heard rumours that most of the koreans use wLauncher for Remastered that can brute force Turn rate 16(?) but I haven't been able to confirm this. Might be what is causing all the lag.
All in all ranked feels pretty meaningless as the MMR is heavily skewed due to disconnects/wonky choppy cheesy games/instant leaves because the game is just unplayable. I really hope Blizzard get their shit together, people paid specifically for Ranked (seeing how it is locked out of the 1.18 original version).

Can mods remove Sea from the stream list. It's really annoying to wait 30 seconds for afreeca to load when he's never actually playing brood war, or I don't know, move him somewhere from the broodwar streams list.
