Anyone notice the 1.20 SD graphics look shitty compared to 1.16.1 SD graphics? I booted up 1.16.1 for the hell of it and it looks so damn clean. It's like really smooth looking whereas 1.20 looks very pixelated. Hopefully they fix it and not only that but the game itself just seems to be faster. I definitely like 1.16.1 better but matchmaking i cannot do without.

Problem is that new or returning folks are using RM graphics and there are a lot of issues that are still not solved yet so it takes a backseat. I'm not even sure if this was mentioned or posted about on Blizzard's forums yet.

I started playing 1.16 the instant SC:R was announced (bandwaggoner I kno), and remember thinking "wow this actually still looks great." But yea, 1.18 and later are pure cabbage.

Pretty sure its intentional, in order to incentive people buy sc:r and play with the remastered graphics.

People on Blizzard forums were saying something about it having to do with their filtration algorithm and the needs imposed by the former limitations of BW (how 1.16 was really your computer running at 640x480 and BW playing on the top left corner of the screen, which meant that there was a different approach to making BW "fullscreen" and thus looked different). I'm not a very technology-oriented person but at least I think that's what was said and does sound legit to me.
What might be "intentional" is that they didn't bother to get a good algorithm going, I guess?

Does anyone know who 88)Blackdrone is? He's a Terran player at the top of the Global ladder right now @ 3326 MMR (84-4 w/ no disconnects). If I'm not mistaken, didn't iNcontrol and/or idra used to use 88 as a tag? Like 88)idra and 88inControl?
I looked up blackdrone and there was some reference to him going back to like 2005 including a replay of him playing against Legionnaire on Lost Temple but that's about it... Just curious who he is/if he's a known player because his record is quite impressive.
Nevermind, the question is already answered in the SC:R who's who thread (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/brood-war/525609-whos-who-scr-ladder?view=all) as BigFan pointed out. My apologies for not searching more thoroughly before asking.

They really really really should've added what I call "Starter rating" which I know exists on some chess websites. This should be implenented in SCBW as well.
Basically what I mean is you should be able to set your rating on a new account given your skill level. Like, if you are 2200, you should be able to set your starting rating to 2k instead of 1500. or vice versa if you are really low rated like sub 1k. It's not fun having to lose my first 10 games on every new account I want to make for different races, etc before I can play vs people of my own skill.

Are there any channels people hang around and ask for games? Iam also curious what the home channel are for each country? I just wanted to check out norway, is it Brood war Nor-1 ? Was dead.
Either way ladder is getting very tiresome. Lag + disconnects. On occasion you get a decent lag game vs koreans but its still a huge delay.

brood war nor-1 has always been populated on europe when I've been online. But I guess if you timed it correctly during the morning/lunch hours it's conceivable that nobody was online. ;p
As for popular channels, earlier on some guys were hanging out in op moo (also on europe), but it seems to have died down a little. Me, I hang out in op tot) cuz that's what we used to do, but I'm often by myself.
