Why the hell would you start up a whole thing and after a year and a half say 'hey I'm busy with my work and I knew the project would potentially never get completed'. No progress reports, no ETA, nothing really. Just words. You've got no respect and no more patience from me.

To answer this question, everyone on our team had agreed that we'd at least be in it for fun and learning if in any case this whole server idea fails. I completely agree with this idea but have already spoken to Yelloant but he isn't willing to turn off iCCup server. IIRC, some people will kick you if your wDetector isn't up-to-date.

Might as well go Fish if you want to find games. I'm one of the new people he is trying to attract. I have been following the progress of this server for quite some time.

I actually talked to one of the developers of one server, even though he's been rather secretive about which project it is. In my opinion the best solution would be to convince Yelloant to shut off his server and re-direct the existing user base to a more modern and updatable project. If they in turn offer to bear the name ICCup 2.0 or something, while being allowed to make decisions on their own is another question. At least some dialogue like that should be done. As for the new people go: Occasionally there are new people trying Brood War. Actually the low rank leagues were one of the most successful projects in the last years, no other project except maybe defiler from 2010-2013 could keep up with them. Most of what I described are the main reasons beginners don't stick around. Now telling them to change windows settings, learning Korean phrases and to fiddle around with an unfamiliar launcher, only to still get banned in at least 25% of their games for not being able to reply in Korean is not a solution. Regardless of the initial motivation to start this projects, it has some point. The original issue maybe forgotten, or not important anymore, but there's still enough to think about it. Retarded posts like done by IdiotGG do not help. All the issues you are stating are not even really issues, Koreans love to try and speak english, it isnt mandantory for non koreans to learn korean or even to speak any korean to get games, or change windows settings, and really it is pretty miniscule for you to complain about launcher issues lol.... you are the typical iCCup " Player " that doesn't even play the game, sits on the sidelines talking about coding / technical aspects of the scene, writes things / blogs, acting like you are omniscient and know what is best for everyone when you aren't even a dedicated player yourself... time to make another channel on fish.

Gecko used to be heavily involved in iCCup IIRC.

And that would happen as not all players would transition to birdies server. What would be better imo is to run the script of the birdie server on the existing ICCup, though i have no clue if that is technically doable. what birdie server ? now im really angry those guys even asked iccup owner to take down the only server we have for this fucking project that this nerd only hyping everyone and even doing stream of some scripts and now telling he didnt make promess and blablabla...

I'm not quite sure if you two guys realize who're your argueing against here. Xboi is by no means Birdie. They are not the same person, and I'm not even sure if they work on the same project. If anyone was to approach Yelloant and ask him kindly in a talk what the future of BW on ICCup might look like, it should be Xboi. In the past two years or more Xboi worked off his ass to support hundreds of ICCup (!) users in the forums and solve their technical issues. He is the only admin post-beta to set up routers, even if it meant more than 30 minutes of work per case. In addition he published several important fixes and stand-alone solutions for ICCup users to bypass the buggy page, which obviously never got fixed. In addition to all that, Xboi keeps the bw subreddit thing alive with dozens of entries. He was one of the reasons it got from 300 users up to almost a thousand. He actively trys to help this game. Please no more touching of good Xboi, ooke ![]()

Back when I first started playing on Iccup, Xboi was the one who helped me set up my router so that I can create games which made life much easier since I can focus on whatever matchup I wanted. It's true that the router information is readily available, I'm not sure if I would've done it myself had it not been for his help at the time ![]()

As a player with a normal life and logs in to play a couple matches for nostalgia or for fun, you may be completely right. As an (ICCup)admin, it's a stressful hellhole to be part of. Bugs that have been unfixed for years, no support from the higher ups, the lack of tools, and the list goes on. For ICCup to optimally function with all of its issues, it needs a much bigger team of admins than it currently has, which it'll never get, because everyone wants to play of course. Getting your points from a match or getting a hacker banned can potentially take 2 weeks and possibly more. Did I forget to mention that there are multiple ways to bypass the antihack, all of which won't get patched even if information is provided on how to solve the problem. I start thinking about how similar this is to how Kerrigan got ditched on some random planet with no hope for help to arrive(and then she comes back as a pain in the ass)
