They should have kept the ace match, although maybe with some limitations. Maybe something like:
- Each player has like 2 Ace cards, so overall they can be sent only 2 times as the ace. That way you ensure that no team would be able to send the same 1-2 players all the time.
- So if from 21 games, let´s say you get to the ace match in 6 of them, you make sure that at least there is a 3 player rotation. If you get to the Ace match every game, it forbids you from abusing your JD, Flash, Bisu, etc. so it makes you develop your depth. If you get few Ace matches, it probably means you are a deep team, but still you can have your usual starter Ace only twice, so if you get to your 3rd Ace match, you need to use someone else.
It could bring up interesting scenarios, like for example KT facing Samsung, and KT coach thinking: "Do I send Action, because I want to save Stats and Flash(who have been used once already) for later in the proleague in case we end up ACE matching with CJ or Super8?".
Sending Action, who is not bad himself, but not as a safe bet as Flash or even Stats, could still bring the victory home, but I am taking a bigger risk here. So what to do? I could lose this Ace match and lose the game for saving Flash and Stats, but maybe he faces CJ and wins 3-0 and no need for an Ace, so he wasted Flash saving him for an Ace match that never happened, and he probably would've won with Flash as the Ace vs Samsung.
But anyways, the format is already decided so...

Flash, Stats, Action, Mind, Crazy-Hydra looks like a really solid, good team tbh.

Sending flash as the ace for the ace match is of course a very logical match up , If KT had mind instead of flash supporting the team , They would have send mind for the ace matchup too , because he is a solid terran . Look you can predict all you want but proleague hasn't start yet , Mind is a solid contender and I don't see Stats backing down from unleashing his random protoss *cannot win * skill like many people are speculating him to be . Crazy hydra and Action is a red herring and a hidden ace , If they are to perform nicely these year proleague , Sending them would be good and since it's a bo5 these year Wooki has the chance to show his talent too and our rookies barrack and perfective .
Do we really need ace match to win these year proleague these year ? Considering that Flash can win a single match up , It's already an advantage , Our Coach may not have the lime light like Coach Park , Coach Cho . However to think that he doesn't have any managerial skill at all , it's unacceptable , have you ever been to the kt training house ? have you experience yourself ? .
It's easy to see from the outlook that , kt strategy is to send flash twice to win , and any reasonable coach would have done the same thing . That doesn't mean Coach lee , isn't doing his job as a coach by predicting line up's and setting up snipers to get the advantage .

Don't think KT will have problems with the new line up, it is just bo5 now, remember this. They only need to wins to force the ACE match with Flash, and they can easily get 2 wins with Stats, Action, Mind, Barracks, etc. I think we will get less chances to see the ace players of each team, if the coach saves them for the ace match. Team like SKT1, KT, CJ etc. can win 3 games without the ace players.

Still, I don't think KT is screwed, SKT1 should be more afraid since they don't have any real addition.

I'll miss the Ace Match, but now the great players will be in high stakes games pretty much all the time now. So awesome.

SKT always had 3 'free wins' last season, the real problem was getting the closing 4th, The only worrying thing is that everybody else is stacked too yeah, but for the time being you can't say anybody but ACE and poor STX is losing sleep over this.
(even though the drafting makes it seem like we didn't expect this and went for a deeper Zerg lineup, which is now basically worthless, or SKT gonna win sending 4 zergs now? trolol)

I don't see why they couldn't just do a Grand Finals with the winners of the two half-leagues
(or aggregate performance over the two to find a second place if one team won both)

hmmmm. How will this allow knew players to play more?
in b07 w/ace, KT needs 3 wins in 5 matches (flash gets 1) and they can test a player.
in bo5 w/o ace, KT needs 2 wins in 3 matches (no flash) to test a player. Otherwise, they have to play flash to prevent losing, and the last match needs to be a good player to win the set.
