Strange Fish Behavior

There seems to be an influx of strange behavior on the Fish server. People killing their own troops, giving vision, then leaving game.Sayle got trolled by it, as well as chatters on his and Pro7ect's stream today. Is it a fad among korean kids busting each others balls in Pc bangs? Is it an expression of ceremonial anger toward foreigners playing on fish? Whats going on? Quite unsettling to experience in a game.

Maybe its not the foreigners but more showing that they have the game on their favour. On Sayle's stream, the opponent zealots were attacking each other just trolling the opponent saying that their in the lead and that killing each other's units doesn't matter.

Personally, I think its BM, you shouldn't do that in a match first of all, but also in a ladder game.

I don't think that this has to be something new. It is just another way of being bm to people. It was the first time it happened to Sayle, but giving vision and such has happened before, right?

I remeber that some guy flicked sayle off in a game as well. Need chat to translate for him to understand.

I don't think this sort of behavior is BM at all. Of course it's all subjective and there is no concrete definition of what constitutes BM and what doesn't, but being a show-off and taunting the opponent is still legal. Some people might say that you shouldn't make hatcheries in your opponent's base or infest command centers or mind control enemy units or anything to throw the opponent off his game or taunt the opponent. I think it's perfectly fine to be a show-off ingame and do whatever it takes to win, including killing your own units or other fun/wacky stuff, it keeps the game entertaining and fresh. But I do oppose verbal chat attacks. The whole point of killing your own units or something like that is to show your opponent "oh look i have more stuff than you i can easily win stop wasting my time u noob, im so good i can win even with killing my own units or making 5 hatcheries in your base LOL" you get the idea -.-

In other words, doing stuff ingame isn't BM, but verbally abusing the opponent sure is. Psychology and mindgames are just as much a part of the game as skill, technique, micro, macro. Bobby Fischer, the great chess player, once said that he played chess to enjoy seeing the moment when his opponent's ego would crumble. This might be seen as quite sadistic, but it's fun to watch.

Yeah but when a guy does that and leaves the game, he still gets a lose, so no ladder points.. maybe to taunt and stay low on ladder to play weaker opponents?

Let's me tell u guys my story. One year ago I played on Iccup in a PvP and lost my first attack. I was definitely behind, 1 base vs 2 base. I'm fed up and order my zealots to kill my gateways and kill each other. My opponent sent 1 probe to scout, see that, typed " ???" and "R u OK ?" then quit, giving me the easy 130 points haha. So yeah that's a valid strategy to win points on ladder.

Guys, you all are completely wrong. I talked with HD about this problem and he made this topic. The thing is, they do not kill their own units by their OWN, its automatic !!!
I played on fish dozen games and this shit happens with no reason, cannons start to kill the base and units kill eachothers but its purely automatic..they do not target their units to troll or whatever..And to conclude, they are always forced to leave the game and thus loose ladder points (if ladder games..) so what a big deal...
It seems this "bug" happens when a foreigner plays but its purely randomely and could even happens to your own ally (i do only 22 and sometimes my own ally which i know well sees his units going insane)
so what the hell is going on ???? is it fish ?? or what ? Help guys !

I know that once upon a time there was an "anti-maphack" software. Interestingly, the anti-maphack software had a malicious counter measure: if it detected you maphacking, it would have your own units shoot and kill eachother. In other words, the "anti-maphack software" was, itself, a hack lol.

So, I definitely know that it's possible for a hack program to exist that will have your own units kill eachother. Dangerous hack to have available on a server :D

@day 9
Thats not logical. Why would you use a hack and an anti hack at the same time ?? You use a hack only ;;
Plus we all use mini launcher or wlauncher so basically hacks are detected, no it is not a hack, and it happened one time on a ladder game so the 4th players were clean. Does not make sense

I had it happen to me, also while streaming just yesterday. A guy in my chat mentioned that it could be a map problem. The thing is that when I host, all the koreans have the version of fighting spirit that I use - and I've used it coundless times on both fish and iccup without trouble.
So day9, what I'm getting from your post (and I'm probably wrong here, but I want to understand it) is that when this happens, my opponents are actually cheating (or at least it reads as if they're cheating ...on this specific map?), and mini launcher's "antihack-hack" counteracts it by giving me vision and have him suicide?

something similar happened to me but not really. I was in a 2v2 game and we were winning, then my ally said something to the opponents and started killing me then I got eliminated. xD

This started happening to me as well, I don't think they're taunting because it tends to happen fairly early in the game when nothing significant has occurred yet.

this is not taunting at all..as u said its early and they gotta leave the game so nice freelose..i just wish it is not a new insidious anti foreigners thing set up by fish itself ;; (as it occurs when at least when foreigner is in the game !)

It never happens between korean ips ? Like other people, I've always hosted the same version of FS and never had that happen in 3~4 months of play on fish. Maybe someone who can read korean should go check the fish forums to see if the issue is being discussed.

Day9 still reads BW threads - there´s hope!

I´ve seen this 3-4 times on Sayles thread and it seems very strange. We need explination from someone who does actually do it (or that it is happening to). Korean speaker go massgame on fish?!

Its happened to me like 3 times where the opponent gave me vision. I figured it was BM cuz I got raped and they only visioned me as I was dying.

It's a hack. I've had time where I've given vision and my units kill each other, and the same has happened to my opponents. I don't know what causes this, but I've used wlauncher's antihack (you have to activate it though by typing "i am korean" in korean) and it hasn't come up again.

Day9 is right.

The anti-hack was one of the first issues of Penguin Plug.

If you were caught map hacking then your own units/buildings would attack each other. It was to dissuade people from hacking. Maybe MiniLauncher had this updated into it.

i watched the video it looks different than the plugin pp had. penguin plug didnt have the sound of their units/buildings being selected and you saw their mouse moving and the replay window was gone so it was actually like watching a stream in game

I don't remember what you're talking about here, but I do remember there being a maphack that had a "backdoor" in it that could be exploited to make them kill their own units. There was a separate 'hack' released that purely took advantage of that backdoor to get your enemy to unally themselves. I assume it was something to do with auto-unally functionality that some hacks provided (such that if your ally backstabbed you, you'd automatically unally).

Maybe you're misremembering that one slightly?

I don't think you can give vision in 1on1, but the attacking own units is very common. If you ever saw my stream I stasis/storm my own units all the time, even build nexus in their natural while the game is still going.

Yeah opponents have done this to me too. I assumed they were trolls because I had a slight edge each time it happened, in the early game.

Hey nice advertisement there, im def. gonna check it out now ^^
But also : its not just one person doing it, its multiple people. In the beginning with no telling on how the game is gonna end. And then usually leave the game. Super strange.

So, I definitely know that it's possible for a hack program to exist that will have your own units kill eachother. Dangerous hack to have available on a server :D

He's talking about PenguinPlug. PP used to exploit that backdoor if it detected you using that maphack.

If you're trolling you're not very good at it.

If you aren't, then please stop hacking.

Sorry, I meant I've run into this three times today, where the opponent gave me vision and his units started attacking each other. It happened early game, like 4 minutes into the game each time.

It's kind of been Korean trolling nature to give the opponent a free win if they think they're REALLY bad.

It's like an ultimate show of "you suck so much that I'm going to let you win" kind of thing.
PM me if you want random korean images translated.

Oh are you guys talking about melee games? they do this just to end the game fast ~ 2:00min so they can get their 30 games to ladder. Some alternative methods is the save game abuse.

I was watching a stream here on TL on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week where the streamer did this to someone. He gave his opponent visions and attacked his CC. He had full control of his units but he spammed stop+attack on his CC to make it seem like he was trying to make them stop but couldn't. He then typed some troll comments and left the game. At the time it pissed me off because I wanted to see some good bw not this trolling bullshit so I turned it off.

I can't for the life of me remember who it was... a D+/C- Terran unfeatured streamer with like 20 viewers.

Anyways, definitely a troll behavior and not a hack from what I can see.
Opportunities multiply as they are seized.

I was under the impression that he said his units were attacking themselves. thus I assumed he was a hacker, or trolling the topic. But since that's not the case, my bad.

I asked a guy I was playing why he gave me vision when it happened again. He said "bug" and then some stuff in korean. It happens to me more than 50% of the time now, it's quite annoying so I started playing on iccup again
