That doesn't make sense. If he has a better timing/economic sense than most in a game that has been studied for years (you won't have such sense by just copying), why wouldn't he have even bigger advantage in the matter in a game where people without as good innate timing sense have much less advanced stuff to study?
If you have to ask, you don't know.

SC2 casual gamers really take BW Korean pros who switch to SC2 lightly .. they are overly underestimating their capabilities .. it's weird since most,if not all, of the top, the best of the best, in their game are ex-BW progamers (regardless of him being a B-teamer/A-teamer, proleaguer/dream leaguer)
Religion is a dying idea .. || 'E-sport' outside Korea are nerds who wants to feel like rockstars. || I'm not gonna fuck with trolls on General Forum ever again .. FUCK!

Yea all GSL winners have been really really (x10) mediocre brood war pros (except MVP who was sorta good for a few weeks))

I agree. I really dont think players who just started playing starcraft 2 truly understand how ridiculously good BW pro gamers are. I dont think you truly appreciate these pro gamers until you try to grind through iccup and realize you are getting roflstomped by the people who get roflstomped by the people who will never be good enough to become b-teamers.

and then you switch over to sc2, play half unconscious most of the time, put zero thought into your play, no effort into improving and still manage to regularly get top 100 (in my case at least)

Uh... those posts were SC2 obsession? I'd hate to see what you call actual trolls.
If you're going to drive away people who actually have something to discuss regarding a topic relevant to BW just because you don't agree with them I'm not sure how you're going to attract 'casual gamers' to your game.

Much less advanced stuff? Timings with the current map pool are much more difficult, and there is at least as much advanced stuff to do.

LOL why are you kidding yourselves. If ForGG ever plays sc2 he will dominate so hard it wont even be funny. He would be by far the most talented player in sc2 and thats just fact. All that micro, macro, multitasking from bw transfers over amazingly well into the easier gameplay system of sc2.

If ForGG or Effort switched to sc2 seriously, they'd be dominating so hard. I sincerely hope they do, because that would energize the scene majorly.

Pretty much the intelligent and creative SC1 players will do the best in Sc2, where the Sc1 players whose big ability was perfect macro and godly APM will suffer because of the lack of things to do with that APM and more things to do with your mind. they will likely focus on the wrong aspect of the game.

EDIT: not to mention that JulyZerg one of the best SC1 players to switch is struggling to keep up with warcraft 3 players Moon and Lyn, as well as a dozen other B teamers and randoms, because he focused too much on his mechanics in sc2 and he seems to lack the strategy and knowledge of his own race now. (he doesn't spread creep at all, which is integral to zerg)

This isn't true, go back to GSL3. There were games where he had the best creep spread of anybody. He explained why he didn't spread creep at all in his up/down match recently. It was kind of a cute reason. He does lack knowledge of ZvZ though, haha.

It is hard to say how good ForGG will be. The (4?) a-teamers who have switched over have had inconsistent results. I count Sangho, MVP, Puma, and Guemchi.

My thinking on the whole is that anyone who played Brood War at an extremely high level should be able to dominate in SC2, but apparently, for instance, the game doesn't "click" with Sangho, or for some reason he's not able to grasp how to get good at it like he did with Brood War. The coach of his team is a former BW coach so it's still very hard to say why this would be.

Whatever you mean by difficult and advanced here, I simply said SC2 is a much less mapped out game.

SC2 is all about army engagement and battle micro. If you can engage in a favorable position then you will win even if you have fewer units. If you watch a lot of huk's games he will be ready to push out for like 10 minutes, but he will spend that time just moving his army around until it is in a favorable position to engage. The other way that players seem to win is by simple having better macro or micro, but if both players are equally skilled in micro and macro, then it becomes all about unit positioning and engagement. With the way units clump in sc2 it's basically an entirely new skill to learn. Some players are having success at it, others aren't.

How is talking about him switching to sc2 and trying to predict his success off topic? If michael jordan suddenly stopped playing basketball and started playing baseball everyone would be doing the same thing.

If you're going to count Puma as an "a-teamer", you might as well count Iron and Nada as a-teamers. =\

Except that your entire paragraph below makes no mention of Forgg's retirement whatsoever. If you want to talk about SC2 strategies, the BW forum certainly isn't the place for it. Since Forgg is now reportedly an SC2 player, if you want to talk about his performance in SC2, go open a thread in the SC2 forum.

Yeah scratch that then, I knew it was a little dubious when I wrote it. But I think the rest of that statement is solid.
