EDIT: not to mention that JulyZerg one of the best SC1 players to switch is struggling to keep up with warcraft 3 players Moon and Lyn, as well as a dozen other B teamers and randoms, because he focused too much on his mechanics in sc2 and he seems to lack the strategy and knowledge of his own race now. (he doesn't spread creep at all, which is integral to zerg) It is hard to say how good ForGG will be. The (4?) a-teamers who have switched over have had inconsistent results. I count Sangho, MVP, Puma, and Guemchi. Inconsistent? I think this is a little misleading. Guemchi didnt play sc2 seriously and Puma isnt really a-team. I'd say of the list, only MVP is playing seriously and he didnt start playing SC2 until retail when GSL was announced. BW pro gamers making a salary arent going to switch blindly to a new game unless there are starleagues to compete it.
Sangho is a bit more curious of a case. He quit BW on his own terms during the scandal and seemed like he had lost his passion for gaming. He didnt quit with the sole intention of playing sc2, but quit because he just did not want to play anymore. Id be surprised if hes training as hard as he did during BW.

Do you think TSL would let him slack off?

Fruitdealer and Tester stated the main reason for leaving oGs was because of the strict training schedules. They said they wanted to enjoy the game more. Also, Fruitdealer seems to have a lot of spare time on his hands when you listen to what he does in his free time (Snowboarding, drinking etc etc)

seems like forgg is moving into sc2 seriously. he'll be very strong, but i don't think he's clearly superior to mvp even based on bw skills. forgg is known for his timing attacks, but not only because he is good at timing attacks, but because he kind of sucks at late game and at improvisation once the game breaks down out of planned builds.
as a current a-teamer forgg will most probably have the fundamentals of scouting, advanced game sense and mechanics. with these alone he should be very strong, but it is a bit premature to predict dominance just yet.
one really good thing about forgg though is that he is excellent at analyzing opponents and prepare timing attacks in league series against them. this seems to position him well for sc2.

It'll be super interesting to follow his development in SC2 o_o

any bw progamer that plays abit sc2 to just learn the allins, should succed quite easily. Also with the larger maps even more so. GL to him in sc2 if that is really what he is going for.

oh shit fOrGG bonjwa. gonna find all the timing attacks and destroydemolish everyone

The larger new maps in GSTL are really showing that macro based play in SC2 is possible if the map is large enough to nullify one-base pushes and cheap all-ins.
Anyways, hopefully the SC2 forGG will redefine and revolutionize timing attacks in SC2. Perhaps he is a worthy competitor against MVP.

Am I missing something here? Is there actually a single reliable source that forgg is gonna play pro sc2? (While ret is cool and all, he is not a reliable source in this case)

I was wondering the same thing lol. Like three pages ago it was decided that Ret was the ultimate authority on the matter, and no one has asked about it since. I would be very surprised if forgg quit KT MIDSEASON with the intention of making a serious run at SC2.
I will miss his BW games regardless

As for the reason for my retirement, I can't tell everyone yet, I hope everyone understands. During this time I'm preparing to travel around and relax. To all the fans who've always supported me, I once again express my deepest apologies. I hope everyone stays healthy, happy new years. And there be rampant speculation on why he retired. Popular theory includes arguments in the team/with coaching staff or something ~_~ Still just rumors/speculation though. http://www.playsc.com/forum/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=219850&extra=page=1&page=1 Sorry for the bump, but has forGG given any updates here? It's been a while and he sort of said he would give an update.

I don't like the idea of ForGG leaving KT with a sick Violet and overworked Flash mid season, in R2 when they were struggling, to pursue a career in SC2. Why wouldn't he at least finish the round/MSL first? Even great could make the finals.
:\

To be fair he left before Violet was diagnosed.

Of course, but he hasn't mentioned anything (possibly due to the lack of updates) about Violet either, you'd think he'd apologize or something or even mention him at all.
Seems pretty bad to me :\

:\ From what I've seen, the main reason for his decision was not SC2 but probably something more personal, like family problems or personal problems with the team or maybe even personal issues with living the life of a progamer. Perhaps, like Guemchi, his desire to continue playing after a bit of "soul searching" led him to SC2, since his retirement would make it a bit difficult to immediately return to BW.
Then again, his SC2 "career" is nothing more than a rumor so far, with the most solid piece of evidence being Ret's one statement on SoTG.

It's not surprising that we hear less from him after he retired. One of the perks of retirement, I guess
That doesn't mean he doesn't care about Violet. He probably has other ways to contact him.

new sc2 bonjwa right there...

So is it confirmed ForGG is going to try SC2? Personally I hope he retires and comes back to BW fresh Guemchi style buttttt... yeah that's unlikely :/

I'm actually very surprised that Guemchi chose to return to BW, considering that GGPlay retired after seeing that he wouldn't be able to play for 6 months and how low the SC2 skill level is atm. Mad respect to him.

Highly doubt it. He has already lost his progamer license and probably not gonna get it back either cause he did leave before his contract was over.
