Dear TL.net community,
I have big hands and so i hate my current mouse which is just a little bigger than a golf ball, and i want to buy a nice one. But i don't know which one i should. I'm thinking of Razer's 3 models:
1- Razer Naga: It may be really nice if we can use 12 side buttons for macroing (especially if he'll do 0p or 9z8z7z6z5z4z when i press buttons). But it has no On-The-Fly Sensitivity thing and I'm not sure if i can raise its sensitivity
2- Razer Imperator: It looks like something simple which costs about the same as Naga. It has on the fly sensitivity, but not nearly as good as Naga's macroing abilities.
3- Razer Mamba: That's what i thought in the first place, but this is way too expensive. It has on the fly sensitivity as well, but i don't know about that.
My mouse characteristics:
I use palm grip, i have big hands, i want high sensitivity (full windows sensitivity is not enough for me) and soft buttons which don't slip, but a soft touch to surface and doesn't resist when i try to move it (my current one resists a little bit). But my left hand is a little bit lazy and right hand works a lot better than left hand. I can't use hotkeys, but for everything, i use mouse instead (my right hand is a lot better than my left hand, so my micro is a lot better than my macro. I don't know if it's because of masturbation or not).
If there are people who used any one(s) of these mice, can he give me advices on this ? Or which mice do you suggest me ?

its not really like basketball, where the shoes and shorts you wear really affect your gameplay
![[image loading]](http://www.boyntontech.net/images/Logitech-Optical-Wheels-Mou.jpg) go for like a cheap one simple like this
and what is your apm? i find it hard to consistently use mouse when i'm using palm grip
claw grip is much more comfortable for me imo
|
Logitech Mini Optical Mouse is the best for BW imo
|
Mouse macro is evil, and against the rules of any competitive ladder/tournament. On-the-fly sensitivity changing is useless as you'll pretty much find yourself never using it. Stop masturbating.
|
Razer Krait is great altough it's bad because if you want to switch to like FPS-games it totally sucks (imo because it's so small). But yeah for bw it's really nice and it's pretty cheap everywhere plus it looks totally baller.
Razer Deathadder is good for BW too plus it works on FPS and other games as well (imo) since it's bigger.
Edit: if you use the Search function you will find a huge mouse-thread

My apm is about 70-90. I rarely go over 90 apm. I (have to) use fingertip grip because mouse length is about the same as the length of my middle finger.

About "mini" thing. I have 1 mini mouse in my home and i already hate that. Btw, are you ex WC3 pro SoJu ?

I don't know about mouse macro rules, but i desperately need higher sensitivity. This is way too slow. And i also need a bigger mouse. Btw, thanks for the advice on masturbating :D I'll seriously consider it.

if you're trying to change mouse sensitivity, are you sure you're changing it in the control panel's mouse options? because a lot of people try to just change it in-game and that only changes how fast your screen moves when you use the cursor to side-scroll it
is the mouse you're using plugged in all the way? because if its only plugged in half-way, it can really fuck up some of the properties of the mouse
also if its a ball mouse, make sure to clean it up a bit
other than those, i can't see why the mouse would be too slow on highest sensitivity
maybe you're running out of batteries on the mouse
and also i assume you're playing with "Enhance mouse sensitivity" checked, because one guy i know plays FPS without it on, and its crazy since you really need that in games like FPS especially since he's a sniper whore

full windows sensitivity No Don't.
Anything over 6/11 windows control panel causes your mouse to skip pixels, that's terrible. If you want it to be faster get a mouse with higher cpi.
For BW mouse nothing matters but the shape, so buy the one that fits your hand the best.
For SC2 you should have at least 800 cpi assuming you're playing on a relatively low resolution, if your res is higher you need more cpi. Optical sensors differ greatly from eachother but for rts games where you're usually going to play with high sensitivity they won't be very different from eachother, if you're going to play low sensitivity you'll have to educate yourself a bit more because a lot of mouses experience bad +/- acceleration or skipping at fast motions.
Your current mouse probably lacks high cpi if you can't get it on high sens. You can use third party drivers or other "hacks" to force the sensitivity higher but there's no way other than sacrificing your accuracy BADLY which makes it unusable anyway.

Simple , dont pick the naga , the other 2 are good mice . But you don't need to have macro buttons on the mouse when you have a keyboard , just practice and become fast enough . Even if by using the Naga you somehow become the best then do you think any1 will be impressed if you sit there and not spamming you keyboard like crazy while your screen just flash by things in super speed . I dont think so , the only way to look good is moving your hands and screen really fast and a naga won't let you do that

First, let me tell you one thing. I play counter strike with full cursor speed (control panel settings) and 7.5 sensitivity in counter strike settings.
@Boundz(DarKo): Thank you for advices.
@Nal_rAwr: My mouse sensitivity is already full at control panel settings. And it's plugged all the way in. It's not a mouse with balls (i'm talking about a mouse which is as big as 4 mouse balls). And my mouse is not wireless. And mouse really goes crazy when i untich "enhance mouse sensitivity".
@Puosu: I hate this one's shape. So i'm buying a new one. And i don't think my current mouse lacks too much dpi, because it totally doesn't move. I want to fly around the screen with moving my mouse only 1 centimeter. Palm grip+High DPI=WIN (palm grip is bad at vertical mouse movements).
@DorF: Ty for advices. At the second thought, mouse macro sounds a really bad idea (you can't micro when mouse-macroing, and there is only 1 single thing that i can do good in SCBW, that thing is micro).
|
Ive been using the MX 51X series of mice for a long time, I have never had a problem with it for an RTS even though i bought them originally because of FPS.
|
mikey mouse .. nough said
|
You seem to want a Razer. I'd say get the Razer Abysuss. If this is purely for playing StarCraft its one of those mices where you can't really go wrong. You don't have a bunch of extra random buttons which can potentially hurt you in-game due to creating an odd shape, etc.
|
Logitech G3 best so far, I have ordered a logitech mini, it is on its way here. I'll see how that is compared to my G3
|
Just go with the one which fits your hand best. Having a super high dpi mouse but a hurting wrist won't help you at all. Get one where you feel comfortable with.
|
I have average about 220-240 apm and i have Microsoft Intelli 3.0, very good mouse =) very accurate mouse!
|
Logitech G3 is the best mouse I have ever had. I absolutely love it. I used to have a KTEC (imported from Korea) and when it died I was so sad and decided I would just settle for the G3. However, I found out pretty quickly that I prefer the G3.
|
if you have big hands then get an intellimouse explorer 3.0
razer mice tend to be on the smaller side, especially anything that has sort of the diamondback design.
in the end any decent optical mouse will suit you fine for SC.
|
ive tried all the razers and many different type of mouses and by far the best has been the logitech mini optical

It's pretty good and durable for its price. But I still recommend the Logitech G5 more than any other mouse.
|
IME 3.0 is more designed for FPS, but it fits big hands well. Extremely durable and smooth. Cheap and easy to replace.
Razer products are overrated, especially ones with 12 extra buttons that won't be allowed in competitive play lol. Quite frankly just because its lights are brighter or its flashier or has better buttons, doesn't make it better, in fact usually its made of shittier material and doesn't last long at all, and is overpriced.
|
Logitech G3 is what I use. Good agility, speed/sensitivity and size for Starcraft!
|
I used a Logitech G3 for a few years then last month I bought a Razer Imperator to see if it`s better... so far I like G3 better - easier to micro, for me at least. Else, Imperator is really smooth and not a bad mouse, I`ll give it more tries, maybe I need to get used to it.

I use this, and its really nice. So responsive.
And it's a ladybug~

Err, the Krait is absolutely fine in FPS games. Size changes absolutely nothing.
|
I used to use the soccer mouse Bisu used it, but in the end it broke D:
Actually I don't find the mouse an important thing, as long as it suits your hand, it's smooth, fast and comfortable for gaming.
Now I am using some simple logitech optical mouse, a really cheap one, and my APM is about 220.
The only thing that bothers me is the keyboard though, anyone recommends one? I don't like flat keys, but the one I am using is really dull and hard to press
EDIT: wow those mouses are awesome!
|

Ever considered that some people may think a bigger mouse is more comfortable?
|
Razer Deathadder is a pretty all around mouse. safe choice i believe.

owned a g5, krait, copperhead, mini optical and recently got a abyssus. I love the abyssus, although all the mice were really good
|
I bought Razer Salmosa along with a Razer Goliathus Speed Edition mousepad a year ago, the best 30 euros I've ever spent. It's in perfect condition, and works like a dream. Of course it's made for fingertip grip, so if you hold your mouse differently, this won't be good for you.

i have the same one..very good mouse and i have the soccer one as well

Big Razer Krait fan here, suits me perfectly for BW/SC2 and also for Sudden Attack, a Counter Strike -Clone FPS. I also have large hands
|
|
I use logitech G3 and I love it. I also have a mini optical, but since it's optical it doesn't have to sensitivity that the G3 has, and I don't like playing with low sensitivity. Costs $50 but definitely worth it. Also it has a quick switch button between 800 and 1200 dpi.

lol that's the mouse I have... It was like $8 at walmart haha. Works fine for me, not that I'm any good.

Thank you everybody for your advices, guys you're definitely the best. Like MutaDoom said, I got really big hands (bigger than 20 in length and bigger than 11 in width). And i am a really high dpi guy who plays counter strike with 7.5 sensitivity in game and full sensitivity in control panel (and still i think whether i should raise in game sensitivity or not). I'm using a BenQ M107 optical mouse (M stands for Mini, at least i think so) which has 400 dpi and a stupid shape. So i want to change that into something with a better dpi and shape. Like i've said, I want to fly around the screen (not crawl). And i'll definitely try microsoft, logitech and a4tech mice before i decide to buy one.
Thank you all.
|
If you're playing BW and only BW, a G1 isn't even needed since dpi won't matter (because BW runs in a very low resolution). RX 250 has the same shape but is much cheaper and 1000 dpi which is a lot more than enough for BW.

Logitech mini optical all the way. Gotta be cool like all the progamers lolol.

By moving your hand really fast... From what I understand most progamers play at very low sensitivities and pick up there mouse alot.

I´m using the razer krait, pretty happy with it.
I tested the mx 510, deathadder, some no name ms mouse, ms explorer, ms habu I´m sticking with the krait, really like its size and form also the buttons are perfect for rts at the moment

razer salmosa get 3 of them you won't regret it

Thank you all. Quickly looking at your description of what you want you should try out Razer Deathadder, it is without a doubt the best high dpi sensor that has been ever made and it should fit a big hand well. The Logitech G3 might be worth a shot as well.

But yeah its not as important in BW because the resolution is so low.

I have around 160-200 APM, and I use the Razer Abyssus.
I'd have gotten a Logitech Mini Optical, but I was afraid it wouldn't have high enough dpi to transition to Starcraft 2 with, so I went ahead and bought the Abyssus, which was extremely similar to the Logitech Mini Optical.
