Q: It’s your first Ro16 advancement
A: Many people predicted that Ro32 would be hard for me to surpass. However, I became confident ever since the group selections. I was able to advance easily due to luck as well.
Q: You blocked
Kal’s 2 Gate really wellA: At first, I thought I would lose when I saw the Zealot (laughs).
Anytime used the same thing against me in Proleague R1. Thanks to that experience, I was able to block it easily. I built 2 Sunkens back then and lost, but today I built 3 and was able to block it.Q: Your clean management in winner’s match was impressive
A: Honestly, the game didn’t go the way I wanted it to. I played most of it unplanned. I concentrated on basic skills during the break after R3 and played according to what I learned during practice.
Q: You will play against a Protoss in Ro16
A: I knew a chance had come to me after the group selections. If I made it to Ro16, I play against a Protoss no matter what happens. It’s not something that occurs often.
Q: Are you confident about going to Ro8?
A: I was really happy. I thought about advancing to Ro16 ever since and I think practicing won’t be too hard. I will be able to show good games.
Q: But you might face a strong Protoss
A: I never thought of it that way. There are two Dragons in my team, so practicing won’t be bad either. I think it will be fine no matter who I play.
Q: What is your goal for this season?
A: I want to go as high as
Stork and JangBi and play on a big stage.Q: Anything else?
A: I thank my fans for cheering me on. It was my mom’s and my fansite owner’s birthday yesterday. I hope advancing to Ro16 becomes a big present for them.

- 생애 첫 16강 진출에 성공했는데.
▲ 32강이 힘들 것으로 예상하는 분들이 많이 계셨다. 하지만 나는 조편성 이후부터 자신이 있었다. 오늘은 운도 따라줘서 쉽게 올라간 것 같다.
- 첫 경기에서 김구현의 2게이트웨이 질럿 러시를 잘 막았다.
▲ 처음에 질럿을 보는 순간 '아차, 또 당하는구나' 싶었다(웃음). 지난 1라운드 프로리그 때 오영종 선수에게 비슷한 전력을 당한 적이 있었다. 그 때의 경험 때문에 쉽게 막을 수 있었다. 그 당시 성큰콜로니를 2개 건설하고도 패배했는데, 오늘은 3개를 건설해서 막을 수 있었다.
- 승자전은 매끄러운 운영이 인상적이었는데.
▲ 사실 승자전은 내가 원하는 시나리오대로 흘러가지 않았다. 즉흥적으로 많이 플레이했다. 3라운드 이후 휴식기에 기본기 연습에 집중했다. 그 연습을 믿고 플레이를 펼쳤다.
- 16강에서는 프로토스와 맞붙게 된다.
▲ 조편성을 본 이후부터 나에게 큰 기회가 왔다고 생각을 했다. 16강에 올라가게 된다면 4프로토스 조와 맞붙게 된다. 쉽게 찾아오지 않는 기회인 것 같다.
- 8강 진출까지도 자신하고 있는 것인가?
▲ 속으로 많이 좋아했다. 그 때부터 16강에 올라갈 수 있다는 생각을 했고, 프로토스를 만나게 되니까 준비하기가 수월할 것 같고 좋은 경기를 보여드릴 수 있을 것 같다.
- 하지만 16강에서 강한 프로토스와 맞붙을 수도 있다.
▲ 특별히 그런 선수는 없었다. 우리 팀에 용 두 명이 있기 때문에 연습도 어렵지 않을 것 같다. 지금 생각하면 누구와 맞붙어도 괜찮을 것 같다.
- 이번 시즌 목표는 어떻게 되는지.
▲ 우리 팀에 (송)병구 형이나 (허)영무처럼 높은 곳까지 올라가서 큰 무대에서 경기를 해보고 싶은 마음이다.
- 마지막으로 하고 싶은 말이 있다면.
▲ 오늘 응원을 해주신 팬들께 감사드린다. 어제 우리 어머니와 팬카페 운영자분 생일이었다. 오늘 16강 진출이 두 분께 큰 선물이 되었으면 좋겠다.

Q: It’s your first Ro16 advancement.
A: It feels pretty weird. Maybe it’s because Ro32 format is the same as Survivor’s, but it doesn’t feel different (laughs).
Q: Why do you feel that way?
A: Because it’s my first Ro16, it feels very puzzling. I thought I would win in Odd Eye 2, but I lost. The loss in winner’s match is disappointing.
Q: You couldn’t type GG for a while in winner’s game
A: I was worried because I couldn’t prepare a lot for the final set. I didn’t really prepare a build for it. It was my first time using the build that I used. Luck helped me a lot and I was able to break the natural expansion. I honestly feel that I advanced because I was lucky.
Q: Isn’t luck a part of skill?
A: It is a part of skill, but it’s still disappointing to not be able to show my fullest potential (laughs).
Q: You will be playing a Protoss in Ro16
A: I don’t really like TvP personally. However, I seem to win a lot of it in televised matches. I’m confident in TvZ so TvP was iffy for me, but the results were totally the opposite. I think I should think of TvP more positively (laughs).
Q: Your goal for this season?
A: I want to get a seed at Ro8. I will try to achieve that first and then think about it again afterwards. I don’t want to play in Survivor Tournament in addition to the preliminaries.
Q: Who do you want to face out of
Stats, Bisu, Movie, and Shuttle?A: They all don’t have a unique style so it doesn’t matter to me. I think it will be good regardless of who I play.
Q: Anything else?
A: Our fans are expecting a lot from individual leagues as they do from Proleague. I will try my best to reply to their expectations.

- 처음으로 MSL 16강에 진출했다.
▲ 얼떨떨한 느낌이다. 서바이버 방식과 똑같아서 그런지 느낌이 확 오지는 않는다(웃음).
- 왜 얼떨떨한 느낌인가?
▲ 처음으로 16강에 진출하다보니 정말 기쁘다는 생각보다는 얼떨떨한 것 같다. 오드아이2에서 이길 줄 알았는데 패배했다. 승자전에서 패배한 것은 너무도 아쉽다.
- 승자전 패배 이후 차마 GG를 치지 못하던데.
▲ 최종전 준비를 거의 하지 못해서 걱정을 했다. 사실 최종전 빌드는 따로 준비하지 않았다. 아마 처음 사용해본 빌드로 이긴 것 같다. 운이 많이 따라준 것 같다. 그 덕에 앞마당 넥서스를 파괴할 수 있었다. 이번에는 솔직히 운으로 올라온 것 같다.
- 운도 실력 아닌가?
▲ 운도 실력이라고는 하지만 내가 보여줄 수 있는 경기력을 보여드리지 못한 점은 아쉽다(웃음).
- 16강에서는 프로트스와 맞붙는데.
▲ 솔직히 프로토스전은 좋아하지 않는 편이다. 하지만 공식전에서는 의외로 많이 이기더라. 저그전을 자신있어 하고 프로토스전은 별로였는데 성적은 반대로 나오더라. 프로토스전을 긍정적으로 생각하는 자세가 필요할 것 같다(웃음).
- 이번 시즌의 목표는?
▲ 일단 목표를 8강 시드로 잡았다. 목표까지는 도달한 이후에 나중을 생각하도록 하겠다. 예선 뿐만 아니라 서바이버 토너먼트도 하고 싶지 않다.
- 김대엽, 김택용, 진영화, 김윤중 중 16강에서 만나고 싶은 프로토스가 있다면?
▲ 네 선수 모두 특이한 스타일은 아니기 때문에 모두 똑같다고 생각한다. 누구와 맞붙어도 좋을 것 같다.
- 마지막으로 하고 싶은 말이 있다면.
▲ 우리 팬들이 프로리그 만큼 개인리그에 대한 기대를 많이 하고 계신다. 팬들의 기대에 꼭 보답을 할 수 있도록 노력하겠다.
