For those wondering why this was so late: jkillashark PMed me a month and a half ago telling me that he would do both the OSL and MSL R&S topics. OSL week 1 is already over, with no topic from him yet; so I decided to just go ahead and do it anyway. If you really want to start your own topic, jkillashark, go right ahead, but I'm not deleting mine.

wow REALLY nice writeup. This makes it so easy to follow.
Damn only 3 z's.. and I have a feeling ggplay/shark wont make to much of a dent. Although GGplay could make it out of stages.
|
I don't think they will have a 5/6 seed anymore. I think they eliminated that just like they eliminated the 24 man OSL.

Shihan masters isn't a starleague. It should be removed from the list of starleagues.
I'd say it's in the same catagory as Snickers All-star.

You also don't really need the Sweet Sixteen.

Or he could move it up above the Group Selection phase, but your point is definitely valid.

oops, forgot that it turned into a 16 man tourney
also removing shinhan masters
|
Wow, before looking at this thread I hadn't realized what an overabundance of terrans there are in this OSL. It's rather sad that there are only 3 Protosses as well, but at least MANTOSS is one of them.

As for the anglicization of the Korean names, what standard are you using?
I always thought it was either jeongseok or jungsuk, not mix or match.
of course my korean knowledge is very, very, very limited, so I may be wrong...
|
GrandInquisitor
New York City13113 Posts
very simple
i took the names i had before in my OSL topic and removed the ones that weren't in this starleague. then i googled / looked at proteam roster / drew straws for the new names ^^
if someone has a better list of anglicized names i should be using, let me know
|
International angliczation says Park instead of Bak, allthough Bak is better to use due to the pronounciation. Yet this can get confusing at times, especially when Lim suddenly is spelled Im etc.
I think both are equally good though.
|
GrandInquisitor
New York City13113 Posts
okay so i'm always going to try to use the Park / Lim instead of Bak / Im
which ones should i change then

"waiting for the sponsor" is pointless, changing the title is ridiculously easy and you have no idea when the sponsor will be announced, it may never be.
plus, you doing the MSL and Gi doing the OSL worked well last season, why bother changing that? less work for 1 person is good.

very nice write-up, ed.
i did something of a laugh/cough when i saw monghwan is one of the maps; i have mixed feelings about that one, although i havent seen a game played on that map yet.

The only game we've seen so far on that map was awesome though. Awesome in the sense that mantoss brutally raped a terran.

Wouldn't Light[aLive] be eliminated? Since even if he wins, he'll be 1-2, and one of Oov or Flash will get 2-1, and Savior will be 2-1 at the very least?
|
Yes that needs to be updated. Savior has already advanced at 2-0, Light is already out at 0-2 and the winner of Oov/Flash gets the other spot.
|
Awesome, now someone do MSL plz

I am loving this OSL so far. Terran are 1-9, Z and P are 5-1 and 4-0 TvZ.
3 Terrans eliminated plus 3 more on the way for sure (oov or flash, bifrost, and ...casy)
I think Iris will advance over Shark for a 3T 2Z 3P Ro8, take that pelims!!!
MSL looks good too!
|
Why are the terrans doing so shitty right now?

They're known as "Balanced maps"
Many Terrans really are not merited to be in OSL - Justin is pre-eminent example.

1. [Oops]Reach (P, KTF) 2-0 2. IriS (T, CJ) 1-1 2. Shark[gm] (Z, MBC) 1-1 4. Bifrost (T, OGN) 0-2
Week 5: Bifrost (T) <> IriS (T) on Hitchhiker Week 6: Reach (P) <> Shark[gm] (Z) on Hitchhiker
so if bifrost beats iris and reach beats shark what happens @_@
|
Germany / USA16648 Posts
then we get tie-breaker matches between iris, shark and bifrost for the 2nd spot
|
Russian Federation4333 Posts
It's just a quick round robin, among the three. Beats the 3/4 advancers and wildcard system of last season. ODT is the most efficient group system tho.

Is the elimination round decided yet? Or is there a player selection?

please note this is the LAST UPDATE I will be making for this topic until August. I am flying to Atlanta next Thursday and will be unable to follow/play StarCraft for 6 weeks
Hopefully someone else will be able to update by editing that post

here is a rough bracket....

I think you reversed Iris and Hwasin in that bracket.
Anyways
sAviOr over Iris 2-1 Flash over Bisu 2-1 Reach over sAviOr 2-1 Hwasin over GGPlay 2-1
sAviOr over Flash 3-2 Reach over Hwasin 3-1
Reach over sAviOr 3-2 [to dream..]

Oh it A1-C2 now?
Doesn't make sense though, because its B1-A2, C1-A2, D1-B2?

fuck savior and bisu in the semis? fuck
|
My dream final would be Reach vs Flash with Reach winning 3-2 in truly actionpacked macrogames IE Reach vs Oov @ Mercury. That would be so awesome.
On another hand Flash roalroading would be cool too as I predicted he'd do so already after the first matches I saw him playing in ODT and because hes a fantastic player.
Reach deserves to be among the 2-OSL winners though not only because hes that good but also due to his very impressive games after his comeback.
KTF Fighting!

Just noticed this:
3. iloveoov (T, SKT1) 1-1 -> eliminated to ODT Should be 1-2.

Ok who wants to be in charge of updating this? I can provide you the source for the topic so far, and you can edit it and send it back to me. Either that or I will send you the source and you can open a new topic to make further updates yourself.

Hah, I can't believe that all the Terrans are probably going to be eliminated!
|
sad i remember we were crying about 17 terrans or something
|
Season to Season, it changes so much amongst pros. I honestly believe maps are so big along with style in each league's results.

Today was a sad day for all starcraft fans.
+ Show Spoiler + Savior is out, Bisu is out, REACH is out... Worst. OSL. Ever.

No, it's an awesome OSL.
And don't say retarded stuff like "sad day for all Starcraft fans" when you're talking about yourself.

ggplay will win this OSL 99%
ggplay > flash stork > iris
ggplay > stork 3-1

when are you gonna finish it? I want to move it to articles. Although I guess I can move it anyway, you could still edit it when it's an article? Any objections?

I do believe I'm done. Goodbye R&S topics, you'll be missed.
(though I'm curious as to why there isn't a TL torrent for the third place match, nor pics for any of the matches after the Ro16. And I can't find a working final bracket picture.)

aw i'm going to miss these threads!!!
i still think people should keep up with these OSLMSL writeup threads even with the TLPD cuz it just looks awsome and super comprehensive with more details of every game and those bold names >ing the non bold ones with zerg terran protoss in red green blue is just awesome haha
