-3승으로 8강에 올랐다.
▶아직 갈 길이 많이 남았다. 지금까지 팬들에게 좋은 모습을 보여드린 것 같아서 만족한다. 8강에서도 좋은 경기를 펼쳐 내가 목표로 한 4강에 가고 싶다. 만약 4강에 가면 목표는 당연히 우승으로 바뀔 것이다.
-You advanced to the round of 8 with 3 wins.
▶There is still a long way to go. It seems like I showed good form so far so I’m satisfied with that. I would like to move up to the semifinals, which is my goal, by playing a good game in the quarterfinals. If I get to the semifinals, my goal will then obviously change to winning the Star League.
-힘들게 승리를 거뒀다.
▶ 앞선 2경기와 달리 실수를 너무 많이 했다. 특히 처음부터 넥서스를 잘못 지었다. 클릭하다가 넥서스를 한 칸 옆에 짓는 바람에 가스 뿐만 아니라 미네랄 채취까지 상당한 손해를 봤다. 특히 스톱 럴커가 뼈아팠다. 옵저버를 대동하지 않아 럴커에 너무 많이 피해를 입었다. 보통 프로토스를 상대로 스톱 럴커를 하지 않기 때문에 미처 생각하지 못했다.
-Your win was not easy.
▶ Unlike my previous 2 games, I made too many mistakes. Especially, I built my Nexus wrong in the beginning. While I was clicking, I built my Nexus one square to the side so I lost out in not only gas mining but mineral mining as well. Stop Lurkers are usually not used against Protoss so I did not think of it.
-언제 승리를 예감했나.
▶지속적으로 견제를 해 준 게 승리의 요인인 것 같다. 후반에 다크 템플러로 다수의 드론을 잡아내며 이길 수 있다고 생각했다.
-When did you feel that you won.
▶I believe that my constant harass is the key factor in my victory. Near the end, I got many Drone kills and thought I could win.
-예전에 머큐리에서 홍진호와 맞붙었던 경기와 비교하면 어느 경기가 힘들었나.
▶이 경기도 힘들었지만 진호형과의 경기가 더 힘들었다. 그 때는 이길 수 없다고 생각하고 마지막 한 타 싸움을 했는데 뚫어내며 힘들게 이길 수 있었다.
-Comparing it to your match against Hong Jin-Ho ([NC]…Yellow) before, which game was more difficult.
▶This game was difficult but the game against Jin-Ho hyung was more difficult. In that game I thought I couldn’t win so I went for a last battle but I broke through and managed to win the game.
-패할 것 같다는 생각은 하지 않았나.
▶경기 중에 그런 생각도 했었다. 내가 병력을 모으지 않고 급하게 싸우다 보니 병력을 계속 잃었다. 자원은 많았는데 병력이 없어서 위험하다고 생각했다.
-Did you ever think that you might lose the game.
▶I did think that during the game. I didn’t build up my army and fought hurriedly so I kept losing my units. I had a lot of resources but no units so I thought I was in danger.
-누구와 연습했나.
▶같은 팀의 박준우, 배병우, 정명호, 고강민 외에도 나머지 저그 유저들과 연습했다. 밤 늦게까지 도와줘서 정말 고맙다.
-Who did you practice with
▶My teammates Park Joon-Woo, Bae Byung-Woo (815), Chung Myung-Ho, Ko Kang-Min and other Zerg users. They helped me until late at night so I’m extremely thankful.
-최근 임요환, 홍진호 등 올드 게이머들의 부활이 돋보인다.
▶ 비슷하게 프로게이머를 시작하고 지금까지도 게임을 하고 있기 때문에 감회가 남다르다. 진호형의 경우 한동안 침체돼 있었는데 최근 프로리그에서 이겨 너무 기뻤다. 꼭 이겨주길 바랬다. 인규형이 이겼을 때도 좋았다. 물론 요환이형이 영호를 이겼을 때는 안 좋았다(웃음). 올드 게이머도 중요하지만 팀이 더 중요하다.
-Recently, players’ like Lim Yo-Hwan (Boxer), Hong Jin-Ho, etc. -- the old gamers’ comebacks are noticeable.
▶We started as professional gamers at around the same time and we are still playing so my feelings are not like any other. For Jin-Ho hyung (Yellow), he has been slumping for some time but he won recently in Pro League so I was very happy. I really wanted him to win. I also liked it when In-Kyu hyung (ChRh) won. Of course when Yo-Hwan hyung (Boxer) beat Young-Ho (By.Flash), it was not good (laughs). Old gamers are important but the team is more important.
-누구를 만나면 편할 것 같나.
▶영호를 피하고 싶다. 같은 팀이기도 하지만 확실히 잘하기 때문에 만나고 싶지 않다. 나머지 선수들은 큰 상관없다.
-Who would you be comfortable with (in the star league)
▶I want to avoid Young-Ho. He is on my team but he is also definitely good so I don’t want to meet him. I don’t care too much about other players.
-이영호에 대해 한 마디.
▶지금도 잘하고 있고 앞으로도 잘할 선수다. 다만 잘할 때 계속 잘해야 최고의 자리에 오를 수 있다. 어느 정도 위치에 올랐다고 만족하면 안된다.
-A word to Lee Young-Ho
▶He is doing well now and he will do well in the future. But you can only climb to the top by keep playing well when you can play well. You shouldn’t be satisfied by thinking you climbed to a decent position.
-최근 신예들의 약진이 돋보인다. 고참으로 그 선수들에게 조언을 해 준다면.
▶그런 기회가 흔치않다. 기회가 자주 찾아오지 않기 때문에 게임이 잘 될 때 더 열심히 해야 한다. 자기가 생각하는 것보다 더 열심히 해야 한다. 자기 만족만 하지 않는다면 롱런할 수 있을 것 같다.
-The recent rookies’ rapid progression is stellar. If you can advise them as a senior player.
▶Opportunities like this is not common. Since the opportunities do not come by often, you must play harder when you can play well. You must play harder than you think. If you are not satisfied with yourself, you can [keep playing in the] long-run.
-팬들에게 한 마디.
▶내가 저그전은 꼭 이기겠다고 말했는데 그 약속을 지킬 수 있게 돼 너무 기쁘다. 보는 입장에서는 어떤지 모르겠지만 완벽한 경기는 아니었다. 그래도 재미있게 보셨다니 만족한다. 다음에는 완성도는 물론 질 높은 경기를 하겠다.
-A word to your fans.
▶I said I will win all Protoss vs. Zerg matches and I’m very happy that I was able to keep that promise. I don’t know how it looked to the spectators but it was not a perfect game. However, I’m satisfied that you enjoyed watching the game. Next time, I will not only play a game of high completion but high quality as well.
