The group stages are almost over, and these final four games hold huge consequences—unless you’re in Group B.
OSL Ro16 Week 6 June 15 18:30 Korean
Group A iloveoov (T) vs. Flash (T) @ Monty Hall Flash looked great in his TvT against Light, but really, who hasn’t looked great against Light lately? Then there was Flash’s meltdown against Boxer, which left me considering something Hwasin said long ago, something that I don’t have the energy to actually search for. But to paraphrase, Hwasin said that the younger players, himself included, don’t have the same level of late-game management as the grizzled veterans. So my pick is Flash to win early or oov to win late. If Flash can secure a solid advantage early, he stands a good chance to win, but if oov can play the game at his own pace, I’m guessing we’ll see a big, smiling gorilla at the end of the night.
The winner advances 2-1 along with Savior. The loser is eliminated.
Group B DarkElf (T) vs. Nada (T) @ Python I’m going to come right out and say it: I think DarkElf is going to take this one. Both players are eliminated from the OSL, but while Nada has been spending his time practicing for his busy Proleague schedule, DarkElf has been quietly preparing for this, only his second televised game since May 25th. Beyond that, DarkElf took down a couple strong Terrans on his way to the OSL—Sea and FirebatHero, to be exact. Nada, on the other hand, is 3-5 TvT since May.
This game has no impact upon who advances; Bisu and Hwasin have already secured their spots in the Ro8.
Group C Reach (P) vs. Shark[gm] (Z) @ Hitchhiker I’m both excited and terrified to watch this match. Despite his resurgence as a top player, Reach is 1-5 PvZ since September of last year. Then again, Shark is 0-3 ZvP in the same frame of time. We’re clearly not dealing with two experts in the matchup, but Reach is my pick to take the game due to his current form and the map; Hitchhiker is currently 5-0 PvZ.
If Reach wins, he and Iris will advance 3-0 and 2-1, respectively. If Shark wins, there is a three-way tie at 2-1, and additional games will be played to decide who advances out of that trio.
Group D Stork (P) vs. Casy (T) @ Fantasy There’s no easier pick this evening. A macro-oriented map, an incredible, hot PvT player, a horrendous, cold TvP player—everything points to Stork embarrassing Casy in what is likely to be the most one-sided game of the OSL.
If Stork wins, he advances 2-1 alongside GGPlay, who has already secured his spot in the Ro8. If Casy wins, there is a three-way tie at 1-2, and additional games will be played to decide who advances between Stork, Casy, and Up.

Not according to the database, and I don't remember anything like that. My best guess is that, if you really remember that game, it could have been July in the PSL, not the ODT/OSL, which I don't consider when I quote statistics due to lack of information on those qualifying leagues.

July beat Chalrenge on Monty Hall, which also had ridiculously bad ZvP stats. You might be thinking of that game?

how is 2-4 ridiculously bad?

what league are you going by? :O I'm guessing OSL/MSL
July himself is 1-3 on Monty Hall ZvP (IIRC?)
loss against rA win against Chalrenge loss against rA loss against some random Protoss in PSL
3-0 P>Z in ProLeague.
4-2 P over Z in OSL/MSL.
7-2 P over Z in the three big leagues
Which is pretty bad..? I don't know what you consider bad, though.

2-4 is overall (0-3 PL, 1-1 MSL, 1-0 OSL). 1 single different result in favour of Z would mean equal stats...

Monty Hall in MSL
Bisu > Child July > Chalrenge Nal_rA > July
2-1 yes?
3-0 PL
5-1, very similar to Hitchhiker's 5-0.. -_-;
mmmm 5-2 not as bad.
brb checking PGR21 for prelim stats for larger pool. 7 games is not much.
where DO they keep map stats --;; I need to learn kor

Yeah ok I was missing one game, dunno why it wasn't in the database yet. Anyway, even if it was 5-0 it would mean close to nothing, due to way to small sample size. None of the PvZ wins were wins due to obvious map imbalance, that's for certain.

the very first televised ZvP on monty hall was pretty ridiculous though XD
any time rA is the first player to play on a new map.. -_-;
I figure even if the stats aren't so skewed, the pro teams think that it's a very protoss map - just look at the sheer number of P games. Something like 3/4 -_-;
PvT stats getting a lot better tho. Used to be like 9-4, now only 2 game differential. Nothing as wild as Arcadia's 12-0 to even stats. That was crazy.
however, Stork gave MH the thumbs down vs sAviOr.

Uh, there have been way more PvT than PvP games on Monty, with close to equal stats.
