Here's another one of those ICCUP blogs,

The thing here is, I've been playing SC for almost 10 months and last 3 weeks ago I managed to get to D+ by playing on 23:00 to 03:00 KST (since most of the D/D+ are really foreigners which I think can be my match.) So you know it felt really great and shit.

Problem is, everytime I hit a milestone, I go very very lazy ass mode.. Like for real, so lazy that I savor every moment everyday that "ah shit, mission accomplished.. I ain't gonna sweat this couple of days/weeks!"

So yeah, for most people.. You would still strike while the iron is hot but not for me.

That's were inconsistency comes into play.

On a very good day, I can actually beat a player that has Mid C- ranking, and on a very bad day I can be defeated by a D guy (which uses toss as well and cheeses like a rat on coke). So in order for me to really, really good is that I need to at least play 5 to 6 games at each day.

Well to tell you honestly, I just want to know if any other TL.net people here has the same lazy-ass attitude like me and how did you end the stupid mentality? I mean, how did you crush/demolish then lock it in a jar and throw it way into the sea?

Also, one of the most important factor here is that, If only I can host game maybe it would be so different when it comes to practicing.

I mean I can control what map to play MOTW as always of course (I can tag it for D/D+ only or for D players only if I have a bad day)aahhhh the power of hosting games.

btw, I've already set my computer to be the DMZ and everything is ip static. Just that, do I need to call my ISP for me to know what IP address I'm currently using or do I need to apply for a Static IP address? which will cost another 20 dollars more LOL!

So this blog is like motivational issues with hosting issues and technical concerns as well. ^_^

Thanks for reading this blog!

I feel like i have the same issue, when i first hit D+ i created a smurf account to make sure i wouldn't loose my D+. I have nothing to say but "suck it up" and mass games.

Exactly! i actually have 1 account that would get to D+ already then another account for practicing against koreans (since most of the time they would kick me in the nuts for 5 games before I can beat someone who sucks more balls than me).

But either way, I'll try mass gaming later to learn new tricks and to get more consistent and I do hope that someone answer my question about ISP's static IP address and shit.

What do you mean your IP is static? You stated that you'd have to pay to upgrade to static IP. So your IP isn't static? You're contradicting yourself so I guess you are confused. Go to whatismyip.com, write it down, restart your router and modem, then try that site again. Same results = static IP, different = dynamic.

Thanks Adeny, what I'm trying to say is that all the computer's here in my vicinity is already using a static IP address and even this computer I'm currently sitting infront of is already DMZ. but my problem is.. still can't host any games. Then I wanna try to check if it has something to do with my ISP provider since I'm am sure that my IP address is dynamic outside the my LAN. (I hope I'm clear with my statement)

If it's not really working it could be possible that my upload speed sucks or that there is something wrong with my setup up since its internet > modem > router > computers.

Yeah the thing is, you have 2 IP addresses. The one you see as static is the networks interal IP for that computer. This'll always be static. The external one is the IP that other clients can communicate to, outside of lan. So if someone is going to join your games that IP is the one they will connect to. The internal one (probably 192.168.1.x or something similar) is only for clients connected to the same router as your computer. I don't know if having a dynamic IP is an issue to iCCup when hosting but I suppose it could be. You can find your external IP on whatismyip.com. Also the DMZ has to be set to your local IP, just to clarify.

I've always used ICCUP as a distraction. I mean yeah when I make D+ on an account I'm happy but the way I look at it is that I'm never going to make any leagues or really earn any money for it, so the motivation to get better just isn't there.

The only motivation like that is the hope that, as we've been led to believe, SC skills will transfer very well to SC2 skills, so when SC2 comes out we can steamroll some noobs at local tournaments and walk away with some easy money. I did that at an odd SC tournament last year at my university. Wasn't even fun. Just sad. But the 20 bucks was better than nothing.

But for me I just enjoy playing ICCUP because when I'm playing a game it's the only thing I can focus on, there's nothing else going on around me, and nothing but the game matters. For someone for whom thinking too much is a problem, that is a very very welcome thing.

I'd rather micro too lol, I think that's most of the fun of playing, other than mind games. It's always funny to get cheesed and win, then when they ask for another game, say something in the beginning like ""

Thanks for reading this blog!

Ive been going through that many times but it got more and more prenounced and harder and harder to fight.

Especially last season when I hit B i thought I would never play again because I was SO lazy and loosing most games because of lazyness and just could not pull myself up. I stopped using lurkers and tried stupid, uncreative all-ins with no meaning that always caused me to loose.

BUT I found the cure!!! (For me at least).

In my games I focus really much on what the opponent is doing. And I then try, as the game goes on, to figure out what my opponent is trying to do. I try to get into his head. This way I dont have to focus on the same boring mechanic/BO/macro but my mind is focusing on more diverse and interesting things. This really boosted my motivation at the same time it made me better because I now am ready for most things my opponents are doing. It made the game fun again. Also because this is a kind of milestone that will never truly end. Some games its very hard to figure out what the opponent is doing, especially if he tries to play mindgames on you.

Wow, that was a long post. ^^

The thing about inconsistency its not always having a bad day or good. Every player has his own different strengths and weaknesses. A d+ player with decent macro might beat a c- player straight up but can lose to a d player's all in builds.

pretty sure the majority of people do this. just mass games. play because you love the game and also because you want to improve. pick two or three BOs are always use those in x matchup. Once you feel comfortable with one style or another learn to develop, exploit and counter other builds as well.

Haha I knew it!

Why do you complain again? ;P

The recent opponents at C- I've met simply give up when they get harassed at 2 spots simultaneously. Probably cuz they don't feel like exhausting themselves lol

yeah i was gonna pount this out. its the internal one you need to worry about, you can check it by typing ipconfig into CMD. Just as a word of advice, when your setting your internal ip some routers have a specific range you must use for either dynamic or static ip's. On my dlink ip's 192.168.0.100 - 192.168.0.199 are reserved for dynamic ip's and .200 - .400 is reserved for static ips so manually setting your ip to say 192.168.0.105 or something wont work properly.

Maybe this will help you, I had this problem when i was trying to forward my ports to my router.
