I'm not sure about "gg" though, that might be a Starcraft thing.

It was quite a pain actually (or maybe it only seemed to be annoying because I was 10...). Blizzard released a War2 Bnet edition after Wc2:ToD anyways. But concerning the OP... I don't think they were that old. I didn't play much on Kali, but I don't remember seeing those (not much help sorry^^ I can't remember much either...). Could this stuff have started with the WC2 Bnet edition? Or maybe it didn't even start on a blizzard game (C&C? RA?). Dunno

WarCraft 2 had no online capability other then directly connecting modem to modem. *WHICH WAS EXPENSIVE* Kali was created as an artificial LAN type thing. Think Hamachi. Only you had to pay to play on the Kali server. (I think? Again, my memory fails me.) Not to mention you had to pay your own phone bill. Hahaha. That's why B.net was sooooooooo HUGE. OMG? Play SC online for free? It was a HUGE hook for me. (Not to mention I was already excited for it.) You still had to pay your own phone bill but by this time internet startup companies were all the rage and it was easy to abuse each company by using their 1 month free before moving on to another company. That's why so many companies failed was because they failed to have userbase that actually paid. Haha.
