Spartan United States2030 Posts April 08 2009 01:28 GMT #1 So I just got the email today saying I was accepted into their private testing phase of their new advertising program. And I must say it definitely has a nicer interface than Google's AdSense. Has anyone else that uses internet advertising programs gotten accepted? Or if you're interested in applying for an invite you can go here: http://advertising.microsoft.com/publisher There is no doubt that AdSense is the reigning champion of internet advertising, but early words from current testers in Microsoft's program say it pays out 4-5 times as much as AdSense on average. I recommend that anyone that likes to make websites check this program out. Hopefully Microsoft will win this battle of the giants, they need this win since they've been declining a lot these past few years. Google is the only other monopoly that competes at a high level with them.

pheer 5403 Posts April 08 2009 02:36 GMT #2 Microsoft doesn't need to win, or deserve to win anything. They are a corporate disaster. Whatever Google does, they do it better than anyone else. That's why they gobble up new and innovative companies and ideas of their time (Youtube, GrandCentral, Blogger, Postini) - they take what is already a great idea and make it better and more widely available. Google's only true flop was Chrome, but that's because Mozilla has already been dominating the market with Firefox and it has a much greater community base and plugin capability. If Google released Chrome a couple years ago it would be the browser of choice (much more popular than Firefox is now). Microsoft just does everything wrong, slow, and clunky. When they finally do come out with something well done, it's months or even years after Google or some other innovator has thought of it (Maps with traffic, Adwords, Live! Search...)
