Remember those games against Fantasy/Hwasin/skyhigh where they got picked apart by some fun ensnare. Why did that stop? I've yet to see a game where Jaedong lost using ensnare, why has he dropped it from his play? Didn't he say he spent hours on it; wanted to take Zerg to the next level. Furthermore, why didn't the other tops zergs (twins, Zero, Ma jae)copy it; at least give it a shot. Did I miss some critical game or something?

They just didnt want to do it anymore.
Dea : one time when he was playing vs the comps he asked me "how do I make that flying unit that makes the other stuff invisible" and I reply "ur playing terran zomg"

iirc, it stopped being terribly effective...the game against HwaSin was pretty close. Jaedong barely managed to starve him by denying his third over and over.

Jaedong said in an interview that using queens is tough because of the extra unit you have to micro...and if you think about it, it's hard enough to micro lings, lurkers and scourge as it is; then throw in defilers, and it gets to be really difficult to do anything before you lose half your shit to mass vessels. Queens with their retarded half-second delay are difficult to micro as it is...not to mention no zergs are used to using them. I think it'd be hard for any zerg that doesn't have the kind of handspeed and multitask that JD does.

Not to mention, if you've seen JD's recent games, he's been trying various other strange builds that have both failed and like...kinda worked out...

If zerg gets 4 gas, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt getting a queen or two. Ensnare and parasite seems badass.

I just played a game where my opponent and I somehow got into long game and we ended up parasiting each others expensive units... geez, it was like a mutual map hack or something... only ended cause I ran out of resources first.

And then I read this thread.
"Jaedong hyung better be ready. I'm going to order the most expensive dinner in Korea."

Alot of people wonder why nobody uses queens, ghosts, etc, and the reason is that they're just too micro intensive for late game and their cost is not worth it mid game.

I thought they would at least keep using queens to push the terran ball in that awkward phase between the time you get your 3rd up and the time you get defilers. I mean of he obviously can do it, why not? I doubt terrans are used to that kind of punishment and its not like you have to go out of your way to get them like ghosts. I mean if he lost once with them that would be one thing... Maybe they started getting raped in practice games but I don't really see how. I do this all the time one Iccup as a delay and I really don't find lurk/ling/queen any more difficult than lurk/ling/defiler

It works pretty well, the problem is that even JAEDONG said that it taxed his multitasking skills. Since no one on this forum or generally on the planet besides Bisu has that type of multitasking it makes them obscenely difficult to use in a general setting.

Queens + Defilers rape hardcore, they just balance each other out because you have to babysit Lurkers and Defilers with the added need to mess with a Queen. You do need both to play against upper level terran though, Queen on it's own is pretty weak.
Python is garbage, number 1 advocate of getting rid of it.

Maybe if Blizzard would remove the casting delay on the queen, it would see more use... just maybe..

Hopefully Hyvaa's last game make zergs put a queen and a scrouge just out of enemy visible range on base raids for finishing off lifted burning cc's.

Maybe the zergs that don't run in a starleague can spend more time practicing this stuff, and the zergs who are still in can't afford to put new strategies through its paces.

Yeah, queens by themselves are only so effective...you have to have enough combat units to begin with to finish off their ball, or else you'll end up like Hyvaa vs Flash on Andromeda last year. Once defilers are out, if you can properly control them both in addition to your army, it's nearly unbeatable...

If it were a full second, queens would be more useless than infested terrans and scouts combined.

It's very short, likely a quarter second? Which in-game translates to quite a long time. It's annoying as hell to use...but that's only one part. The other is if the guy is particularly on his toes, that casting delay can be enough time for him to rush in and kill it. That happened to Jaedong in his game against Hwasin, and he lost one of his two queens that way...it died before getting its ensnare off.
