I thought replays with Computer players always messed up because their actions weren't recorded and so the Computer just played a different game each time?
|
No
The computer will play the same game everytime as replays record the exact position at which time, of each unit/building/critters in the game.
In other words; they don't mess up.
|
Lol when I first read it I thought you meant to video yourself literally beating up an actual computer into tiny little pieces.
Is there a prize! I might try something creative if there's an incentive.

Hmm I don't even know what I could do. Are multiple entries allowed?

Didn't Leg say that the pros used to try and kill off terran comps in the fastest time with just 1 probe? If anyone can do that one, I would be interested in seeing it.

lol what replays dont record positions they record actions
|
yeah, but to avoid flooding, let's just keep it to, say, 3 reps?
edit: well yeah xD, but remember that comps do have actions too ^^

For example, everytime i build my game, I have a character that will run either right or left. I had a seed of "1", and everytime i ran my game, it ran to the left. When the seed is changed to the date/time/milisec, then thats random.. so in other words, the replay somehow stores the seed.
Back to topic, this sounds like an interesting contest.. though i would have to think about something clever before i play the pc .... hmm....

I remember there being a big thread about this, they played on challenger. I think it was nony or frozenarbiter that did it the quickest.

I believe it used to do this, but they patched it in something like...1.09, or 1.10; not sure, you would hafta go back and check the changelog.

doesnt the computer just run an algorithm and arent random choices usually based on (game)time, which would be the same when running a replay

The random seed could be the time running the replay, as well as it could be the date of the replay or a simple flag stored on the replay. It does run an algorithm which basically acts the same way based on this random seed

The computer doesnt do random actions, if you go many many tanks, the computer will mass mutas, and if you go lots of air, it will mass scourge, try it.
I'm coming with a rep soon.

Ah, that might be it. Last time I actually seriously played the game was between 1.08 and 1.10, so that's probably what I remembered.
That being said, I can't wait to do this :D
EDIT: Ok, Chill's replay for sure doesn't work for me...do I need penguin plug or something to open it?

hush hush the prize is you get the pride of knowing you stomped a computer better than everybody else.

Forcing a zerg computer to cancel their only remaining hatchery that is still building by damaging it is pretty funny but I've only got to do that a couple of times.

Try it again, I just forgot to click accept.

Here was my first idea: http://www.filesavr.com/probemadness
It probably would have been a lot cooler (and more successful) if I actually used hotkeys and had better APM at the end there, but it worked and you get the idea.

All of the last few replays I've downloaded from the internet to watch have all messed up. I think the actions get screwed up. For example, Chill's replay is ~18 minutes long and the protoss comp dies at 10 minutes. All of my autoreplay replays work fine though.
Sorry for being a bit off-topic but this is super irritating.

Do you have a custom AI script?

This :/

I think you can't rewatch the replay if it's made in single player, but if played on LAN you can.
|
I watched Chill's, it's awesome. :p
Maybe you have to watch it in SP?
|
Chill's worked in SP and it was great. However, I have some 2v2 games that have broken in a similar fashion and I'm sure those weren't played in SP.
Edit: Typo

How is that raping the computer?!?!?!?!?!?!?11? You get to use units that do 40 damage each, and then you get to combine them to make a super unit. If Starcraft was balanced, Bisu would be doing this.
+ Show Spoiler +God damn...it takes so long for ghosts to kill anything.

If anyone can come up with a faster way of crushing the silicon aspirations, I'd like to hear about it. As it stands now, the hatchery explodes at exactly 3:00; I refrain from targeting the hatch manually, as that would be unsportsmanlike. The 3rd drone that went out was to block the computer's 12 hatch, which oddly enough didn't come at all.
|
I think the AI is broken on that position of bluestorm (top right).

And the OP is doing a half assed job of keeping this up to date.

Sorry I've been somewhat afk for a while XD
I'll update
edit: nevake plz choose the 3 reps you want to be taken into consideration as you have 4 and I don't know which to take out =S

Hey, I was playing it on single player so a few times I pressed "s" by accident and it slowed the game (at the beginning... I corrected immediate after). Do I have to re-do it? ):
I am still going to submit more though so... Just let me know n_n
+ Show Spoiler +I think this is viable for someone with pro micro and multi task... Obs see enemy obs, scouts kill that obs. DAs MC enemy units. DTs kill enemy units because there is no obs.

Nah man it's alright 8) I'll ad it to the op ^^

That's pretty fast. I can win in 4:40ish with a 14cc though! :-D

Man, I lost this one attempt at a sick strategy the 3 times I tried it, maybe someone else can pull it off. SCVs, medics, vessels, and valks, vs Z. I never seem to get enough before the zerg comes with 2 lurk 20 dra ):

You mean 2 days remaining

Sometimes we get a little anxious .
I plan on watching them all today. The only one I've seen so far was Chill's cannon push which beats my replay hands down. I was just trying to do what someone suggested since I'm not creative.

Firebat Hero:
Here i tried to do a "firebathero" TvP where a firebat surrounded by medics kills all zealots and probes before the toss can get cannons

Below are other ideas if someone wants to give it a try:
+ Show Spoiler ++50 kill reaver PvP using only 1 reaver with shield batery support, no cannons/other units

Is shuttle acceptable? I already beat fanaticism's challenge and now yours. Also it's too late to submit replays.
