um jaedong lux and etc have just as good of a muta micro as july btw the ORIGINAL mutal micro is shark[gm] so Idk what you mean by july having the original muta micro
jaedong, lux.. their micro is garbage? i dont know what the hell you're trying to pull here. i'd like to name games where lux, jaedong dominated their opponents with mutalisk alone, but i can't.
the only games that i can remember off the top of my head is Jaedong vs UpMagiC where Jaedong controlled 2 groups of mutalisks? and YellOw[arnc] owning oov couple years? months? back with BRUTAL mutalisk micro on hitchhiker. OH and that game on fantasy or something where Luxury or yellow i dunno who owned Frozean was it? with crazy mutalisks as well.
heh, yeah July was SOOOOOOO good; but other zergs have just been as good with mutalisks. you can't say that their micro is garbage.

welcome to starcraft 2008. watch any jaedong game on blue storm.
I don't think July's is significantly better than Jaedong's. It's just that at one point, July had unquestionably the best muta micro and that title stuck with him. When I watch his, something does seem to be differently but I'm dismissing it as the results of past influence.

There have been rare cases where jaedong screwed up his muta micro, but its still equally as godly as July.
The Zerg Twins + Jaedong + July all have the greatest muta micro in the pro-gaming scene. Shark is a mediocre player, borderline one trick pony.
One-trick pony?
He does a lot of 2 hatch muta plays and relies heavily on his muta harassment to lift him into winning. if that fails, he's pretty much screwed and tries for some desperate variations in hive tech with sloppy execution..Bleh.
Yeah, like some have said. JD, Savior, Kwanroo, Lux, etc do not have garbage micro, but for some reason July's game seem to be more entertaining than the others or at least makes you realize how good of Mutal usage July has.
I think it would kinda be like watching Savior when he uses the defilers. We associate Savior with defilers, July with mutas and Boxer with marines, so when we see 'em use those; we freak.
Tushin had a good game sense here - on that hydra attack that wouldn't do much if not the reinforcements. He didn't wait for them probably because he wanted to be sure storm didn't kick in. As for his return and stuff, as much as I like July and feel nostalgia for any player from few years ago and the beginnings - we should see 3-4 games of him that drag into late midgame, with lots of troop exchange, where high scale macro, unit production lasts for at least 20 minutes and our hero wins so we can think more of him than <15min tactic user. Winning this tournament should be a good equivalent though.
while everyone has been focusing on Tushins [amazing] play recently, I think people have overlooked somewhat, that Rock looked decent in this match. Thats TWO games in a row against zerg where rock looked like he had a clue about what he was doing. hmm
It seems the difference between july's mutas and other pros is that he isn't afraid to take hits. He knows precisely how tough his clump is and can be hyper agressive as a result. I think most modern players would have seen those goons and corsairs and flew around a bit to see if they could find a less protected area. July, however, focuses on the sairs until rock is forced to pull them back, and then picks off a few goons. The difference is not in technique or precision, it's in guts.
I agree with Pisan. Hes used mutas for so long, that he knows not only how to use them in the mechanical sense, but he knows how to use them in tandem with his play style. Its the style he uses, an imaginative and aggressive flare with his mutas- that can only come from not only a brilliant player, but someone who knows the mutas damn well perfectly. In terms of simple harrass he may not even be the best [any more] but he can do things that are just simply...spectacular.

Jaedong vs. Ruby in PL a while back. -.-
I mentioned the same thing to my brother yesterday and he said that it was normal. After watching July pwn Rock with mutas for a bit he said it was pretty good muta micro/harass.
Shark is the one who revolutionized mutalisk control. So, July is not even the "Original." And even if he were the original, that does not mean he is the best.
Look at Shark, the real original of mutalisk control. His control has been used and improved by July, Jaedong, and the Park brothers. The "original" is definitely not the best.
July is good, no doubt. But players like the Park brothers and Jaedong do not "seem like trash" compared to July. They are probably better than July.

I think he's realized he can't carrier rush a zerg.

Shark discovered a useful trick. July was, however, winning starleagues with his muta control before shark made his discovery.
If Lux manages fluke Flash out of this OSL, I could easily see July crushing through everyone and taking the golden mouse. We've already seen July trash Luxury once in ZvZ.

There is absolutely nothing flukey about the current score between luxury and flash in OSL
