This is not about all the honest zergs out there.

This is about the evil, vile, disgusting zergs out there who mineral hack. There are probably a lot of map hackers out there but those will mostly fly under the radar. Mineral hackers however tend to be blatantly obvious even without checking the replay.

They generally use 3 different methods:
  • Cheat right away to put down an instant pool to get lings out much earlier than even a 4 pool. And after they reinforce with lings from their ever growing population of hatcheries.

  • They start off cheating right away to make one hatchery. After that they stop cheating, but essentially they move their timing on everything forward a great deal.

  • They make a million hatcheries in their main and tech up real fast while getting enough units to fend off anything. They block ramp and make their natural look as unfishy as possible.
What is so terribly obnoxious about all three, is that you see that they are doing it. The first method is just given away by the fact that the lings come sooner than is possible. And usually, you give them the benefit of the doubt and think that he probably 4 pooled. But then the reinforcements are just too great. And if you had enough sense to scout with an SCV, their main will tell the tale that you suspected all along. The second method becomes obvious right away as your SCV comes into their base. You may see them desperately blocking ramp with drones or lings from a 9 poolish timing. Strategically in a normal game this would make no sense. If you choose to persue the game, it becomes clear that you have been cheated because of the impossibleness of their build. A 3 hatch build with a 1 hatch lair-like tech timing or something to that effect. The third method will be completely obvious when you scan. I can sort of understand the reasoning behind other cheating if you don't get caught. You make the opponent feel like a loser. He might even bestow a "gg" upon you. When mineral hacking, you are just going to be insulted and your opponent won't even have the illusion that he lost fair and square.

After running into a couple of these players, I'm tempted to never play public X vs zerg games again. This is mostly because I don't want to have "Is this person a hacker?" running through my head while fighting off a legitimate 4 pool. All the zergs that for some reason or other manage to fool me with their hack will also make me a worse player by warping my sense of timing.

Is there a chaoslauncher plugin or something that detects this when it's done? I usually don't play with chaos, but maybe I should start if something like this is out there.

There's some plugins and "anti-hack" maps that you can download if you look around. Remember reading about something recently. Sorry I can't be of more help.

But I do remember playing some really noob zerg who mineral hacked and I still won. -_-. He did the number 3 thing in your list of ways they hack. And went mass hydras.... -_-... and I won. lol

Hopefully someone here can help you out. Goodluck

Why don't you just quit when you find out that you are playing against a mineral hacker?

The fact that you are playing on BNet guarantees that there will be hackers...

I do quit when I find out. But the damage has been done. I wasted 5 minutes of my life.

I would play newbleague if it changed to a more europe friendly time.

I'm pretty sure the majority of Zerg players don't hack. And there's no reason to let a few (or a few thousand) hackers ruin things for you. When you catch them, just say "fuck you" or something and leave without a second thought.

the funniest mineral hackers are the ones who use it on fastest lolol

and in a random 1v1 game on hunts, i RvR'd a guy and it ended up being PvP. i won the game, and he asked for re. so i join the game and he says "ok i'll be Z this time" and i stayed with R. 3 second into the game "mineral hack detected". seriously, what a loser.

In my last SC days I played a bit on BNet and I was met with a lot of scepticism and prejudice because I'm Z only. I've also met a lot of mineral hackers.
That's just how it is right now. Oblivion is like an unofficial BW expansion, at least when you look at how many people use it.

"Oblivion is downloaded from the original source website about 500 times every day. That equals 15 000 downloads per month, or 180 000 downloads per year."

I use AdvLoader. A google search will find it for you straight away.
It's a handy little plug-in. Gives you a fairly crappy (but often close) sense of apm, hack detection and observer features for when watching reps.

Soon as the zerg uses the hack, it lets you know. Saves me loads of time.

I would agree that it is always the Zergs who hack on Bnet. The worst ones are the ones that are seemingly just overzealous with their scouting, but a real player would never scout the way they do, when they do. I don't think I've ever won a PvZ on Bnet when I go fast expo in PvZ, and it's not because of hydra breaks or ling runbys or ling all ins or even muta (the usual suspects), but because I'll push out and they'll always know exactly what I'm doing it and counter it perfectly. Then I'll try to expand because I obviously can't win on the offense, but they'll kill my freaking probe 20 times even when I send part of my army there, and they'll always send just a bit more than me. And If I send my whole army they hit somewhere else really hard and its just downright obnoxious. -_-

It was always pretty clear to me that the reason I kept losing was because they all maphacked at the very least, and a good number mineral hacked. I just started playing Iccup instead and I'm like 50/50 in PvZ using a fast expansion build almost every time at the D+ level. Granted I've gotten better since my Bnet only days, but its partially because I can play opponents who aren't blatantly cheating.

what i like to do is i start the game and then i send 3 scvs to scout and gather minerals with just one scv. i don't plan to play the game, i just want to waste the zerg's time. if they hack they usually just quit, if they don't then i quit.

but usually i don't play against zergs anymore because of this. it's pathetic.

Nice, thanks. I gotta give this thing a shot later on.
