Hello All,
I'm going on a family trip to Sweden on the last week of August.
I'm staying in Upsalla and i've rented a mini van (9 seats).
Anyone can give me some insight on what I should visit? What are the must sees?
As it stands I was planning to go to Copenhagen during the trip. It's a 700kms ride each way and i'll be staying there for two nights. Is there anything special along the way that i should visit?
Any tips are welcome as nothing is closed at the moment, except that i'm staying in upsalla (Stayin with relatives)
Thank you in advance

I know there's a big swedish community here. Isn't there anyone who can give anymore tips on top of the best fast food burgers (which will be very helpful)

Gamla stan in Stockholm is kinda nice, also depends where u want to go There’s an ice hotel in Jukkasjärvi (pretty much northern Sweden)
Also Kalmar is a nice town with a kick-ass castle
If u want some drinks, nice weather, water and good looking women u should go to smögen och Strömstad
Gotland and Öland is cool playes aswell, though Gotland is really time consuming to get to (have to take a ship over and they go twice a day (though more often on the summer)
Not really sure, Karlstad is a nice town, gothenburg and Liseberg is cool
Hard to say kinda depends on age and company 😜

As you'll probably be travelling on E4 highway and go past Jönköping i'd pay the city a visit. It's quite nice with a beach in central parts of town at the foot of one of the biggest lakes in Sweden (and you can also say you've been to city of Dreamhack). Coming from Stockholm there's also Gränna about 10-20km before Jönköping which might be a nice stop to see how they make the polkagris sweets.

I would think most people will find Sweden relatively boring, because most of its actual attractiveness is the vast wild nature. Or maybe it's because I go mostly for nature that I am too ignorant of the non-nature sights? However even when it comes to nature, most of the south is also boring, because it is (for Swedish standards) heavily cultivated. I have some favorite places there, but they are north of the arctic circle and that's simply too far. The southernmost superb nature I know of is Skuleskogen, but even that's pretty far north of Upsalla.
As people noted, downtown Stockholm is quite nice. Still it isn't Rome/Paris/Istanbul, but it's interesting with the water setting. I quite liked the archipelago to the east of Stockholm, but many of the islands are accessible only with a sort of "boat bus" - public transport on water, which takes time. But a relatively interesting part is possible to reach with a car, there are some ferries, but they go often and for free. The whole archipelago isn't very wild, but it's absolutely enormously cute! All the small houses and gardens on the islands are stunningly ... Swedish

Gotland and Öland are beautiful places, if you enjoy coastal biotopes. Personally I like them, even though I live on the inland. There's not really any special architecture that I can think of. The marvelous sights in Sweden are all natural.
Stay out of Malmö, and if you go want to visit Gamla Stan (an old town with plenty of tourists that's been around since the medieval era), don't travel to the edges of the blue subway line. It'll take you to dangerous high crime areas. There are some nice cafés and stuff in Gamla Stan, but it's nothing special in my opinion, although there are some record shops there that might have authentic Swedish death metal™
