I sure know I do. Yet here I am, doing one anyways.
So I figure, making this god damned Overwatch quality character is really hard, so I think I'm going to take this more slowly. One finished smaller project per month. From concept art, to sculpt, to retopo, to UVs, to bake, to textures (hand painted or PBR, depending.)
So after trying to solicit some ideas from random people I know on facebook, thinking their suggestions were fucking stupid, and then remembering, if I want to make video games, I can't just say, "Fuck you, your idea is bullshit, I'm going to do what I want," so I'm just going to make what they told me to make like the little bitch that I am. <3
January is a....
PANDA BOOKCASE.
yep. You see what I meant before now right?
Anyways, this is the rough blockout I've arrived at.
I tried some normal map baking, it was pretty ugly, so I'm redoing it piece by piece and making sure I'm getting precisely what I want out of it. Its going to be handpainted, so I don't REALLY need to be spending this much time on the baking, but I want to get at least a solid bake and projection onto my low poly so I can transfer that to my next few projects and, y'know, fucking learn.
Typically, I like to use the maps from baking as a base layer to apply color and then kind of work on handpainting so that all of the actual work work is done for me, so I'm going to keep this baking bullshit up 'til I get a goodish one and then focus on learning hand painting stuff.
And for February? Many crates.
And by many crates, what I REALLY mean is...
because if I'm going to make other people's inane suggestions, by GOD am I going to make them weird.
And for March, The Silent from Slay the Spire, which is a really great deckbuilding Roguelite and I cannot begin to recommend enough, even if most of the assets are butt-ass ugly because they game is in early access. Incredibly fun game.
Leave suggestions for my April and onwards! I'm looking forward to taking your ideas and twisting them to make them interesting!

If you get this shit rigged/animated and all that garbage, please relink, I have a few people that would like to know de wae. <3 <3

I've tried like six different times to upload him to VRChat, but I hit publish and the loading bar just comes up and does nothing forever. I think it might be a problem with the VRChat servers being flooded with nerds. I looked for some solutions on Google.org and some people recommended deleting the VRCSDK package in the Unity project and then re-uploading it... which I tried. Someone said he solved it by changing his computer's date and time, which seemed weird but I tried it anyhow, and it didn't help any.
However, I can confirm that da commandah is rigged now in my version of the .fbx file.

You have found de way.
As for the tech issues, I have NO idea, I'm not at all sure what kind of specs they accept map wise, his maps are PBR, and hes only ~10K polygons, so the polycount is likely not de issue, but I think maybe they don't use physical based rendering and its impeding the viability of the maps?

It's definitely not a polygon issue. I've run into that as an issue before. I don't think it has anything to do with the model. The model is fine. I'm fairly sure it's either an issue with Unity or a VRChat server problem, cuz I know they've been having problems lately.

Maybe Unity is unable to handle a model of such sheer power and glory? Its not coded for true Uganda Commanders?
I honestly have no idea though, I cant think of anything I could do with the specs since I only spent a few hours making this bastardization of God's image, and nothing is particularly complicated.

Okay, so I finally figured out what the deal was. I needed to update the SDK package I had imported to Unity. Anyway, I got da commandah into the game:
This is just the initial "test version". I might tinker around with the settings to try and make him shinier.

yeah, lemme try a different map export setup, I may have exported it in a Stylized Overwatch package whereas a basic Spec map export may be the best way to have the PBR show. After all, whats the appeal without the shine of the GOLDEN CHAOS EMERALD GODS
