So, i am right now on my coffee break, checkin out TL and a couple of other websites i enjoy, and stumble upon the newest drama of today and i can't even believe my eyes.
I mean there was ALOT of stupid drama in the past about curse words and stuff, and then there was kinda legit drama, like when players were ripped off or teamhouses were scam etc.
But this has to be new low in "drama quality", its literally kindergarten-level. For those of you who don't know what i am talking about, just do a little research, the basic structure of the drama is like this
- Nerdy Guy A has a crush on Nerdy Girl B (standard Drama setup.. right?) - Nerdy Girl B at first signals some sympathy back - Big "Bully" Guy C steps in the scene and says something mean to Girl B - The mean thing is just said "in character" as part of a roleplay. - Guy A then jumps to the rescue fo real, although no help from Girl B was requested - Guys A and C fight over the internet a little - Girl B then comes around the corner and says she changed her mind and actually does not like Guy A - Everything gets leaked left and right, sarcasm, laffs and cyncism ensues.
=> Everyone participating loses.
Level of professionalism: 0. Level of relatedness to starcraft: almost 0. Level of cringeworthyness: Over 9000.
I am serious, that story does not even qualify for a low-budget soap-opera. At least there are no sponsors that can be called.
No, i am trying to make a point. While drama in general is bad of course, it can spark good things, like discussions how the usage of certain words affects the public image of progaming.
Or in case of not-paid moneys it reveals shady companies / business models.
So in most drama, there is a core that contains a valid point...
I think my only complaint is that it is not related to StarCraft at all; but to be honest, I hardly care. I don't even watch the show or follow anything-related.
But my statement is correct, in this specific case; you find the drama petty. Which is fine, but I think making a whole blog about it is counter-intuitive to what you really want to do (remove it). In this case, you're only further promoting it and further highlighting your disapproval (which is vastly outweighed by the effect and interest of everyone else who upvoted/talking about it).

Case in point lol
Also, the core topic is how to separate business from leisure when it comes to a broadcast of a leisure (D&D with friends) and the business of youtube (cheap summary, you can go farther with this).
I've never even watched the show and even I can see the validity.

Incontrol = Guy C JP = Guy A Gem something = Girl
JP goes AMGerd don't say that about Gem to Incontrol who was just himself, said something on the lines of "you whiny bitch" JP sends show to comercial, has a word with Geoff in chat, all hell breaks lose JP cancels the show and kicks Geoff off of it. Geoff then goes to twitter saying he is off the show. Then chat logs come out between JP and Geoff and JP and Gen. All in all the host of the game flipped the table mid game and said im done.
aaah, i misread that. I read "you find the drama pretty."
Yeah in case that this little blog "spreads the drama" (which i thougt is impossible because it is on the frontpage of screddit), i'll delete it in the next minutes.
Edit: Halp! How do i delete this thing?? Just erasing the OP?

quality made by people is low nowadays and is going to lower. Just compare PC Games, Movies from this decade and last decade. Only technical quality is better.

Gen I take it. It's funny how I came into this thread, disgusted with drama, and ironically now I'm entertained...

Sorry, I couldn't follow this. I got confused somewhere in the middle.

OP is probably the most classic example of how playing telephone with drama leads to people thinking something happened for a certain reason while actually having no clue what is going on in reality.

DONE. At the end alot of people got a few good laughs out of this and the ESEX article. Poor JP had to digest some harsh comments, which i guess he is used to by now. Nobody got seriously hurt or something, so time to move on
I was kind of hoping for them to release diss tracks, declaring that they will escalate the beef to violence if the other dares to step out of line, but most certainly won't step out of line, because both decree that the other side is definitely scared of them.

While I under-appreciate the point, your explanation of the situation is horrible. I completely misinterpreted the situation coming in to the blog as someone who had no idea about what was going on.
