During the start of the WCS America Ladder Wildcard qualifier yesterday, many players expressed concerns about the Ladder Wildcard requirements. NASL and Blizzard Entertainment have chosen to delay the qualifier, and you can read NASL’s post below.
You’ll find the adjusted schedule for the Ladder Wildcard qualifiers in America and Europe below:
Season 1 Ladder Wildcard Schedule
Ladder Wildcard Dates Registration Closes Link
WCS Europe Sunday, Jan 12 1:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) Sunday, Jan 12 12:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) Open
WCS America Monday, Jan 13 8:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) Sunday, Jan 12 8:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) Pending
For Season 1 of 2014, we will be allowing an exception for players attempting to get their 200 wins before the European or American Ladder Wildcard qualifier. Seasons 2 and 3 of 2014 will operate rule 1.0 – G in the WCS Player Handbook.
Season 1 2014 Ladder Wildcard Requirements Exception
Players with 200 wins on one account on the region’s host ladder cumulative between 2013 Season 6 and 2014 Season 1 will be eligible to compete in Ladder Wildcard Qualifiers for all remaining spots without meeting any residency or citizenship requirements. The host ladder is the “Americas” server for WCS America and “Europe” server for WCS Europe. Wins will not be added between multiple accounts.
Players must register for the qualifier with the StarCraft II Character ID and Code with 200 wins. Admins may request players change their Character ID with the Season 1 2014 Free Name Change to allow for efficient administration of the tournament.
The masters requirement (section 1.0 – A in the WCS Player Handbook) still applies to all Ladder Wildcard qualifiers.

The WCS America 2014 Season 1 Ladder Wildcard Qualifier has been rescheduled to Monday, January 13th at noon PST.
As the qualifier was announced while the 2013 Season 6 was active, but began once 2014 Season 1 was active, there was understandably some confusion as to what was "current season" and "previous season" with respect to the 200 ladder wins required. To accommodate for this confusion, Blizzard has updated the requirement to be a bit more flexible for Season 1.
Now, instead of requiring at least 200 wins in 2013 Season 6 or in 2014 Season 1, players must have at least 200 wins on the NA server on one account between the two seasons. For instance, a player who has 150 ladder wins in 2013 Season 6 and 50 ladder wins thus far in 2014 Season 1 is now eligible to register. All wins must be on the same account.
This exception is for Season 1 only. In Season 2 and Season 3, all competitors will be required to have the 200 wins within the designated season for the qualifiers, and will not be able to combine wins between two seasons to add up to 200.
As this is a change from the original registration requirements, it is only fair to re-open registration to all players who meet the new registration requirements. As such, registration for the WCS America 2014 Season 1 Ladder Wildcard Qualifier will open Wednesday, January 8th at 5pm PST. Registration will close on Sunday, January 12th at noon PST. Anyone who has questions regarding their eligibility or the registration process is encouraged to email WCSAdmin@NASL.tv.
