YAY! I grinded so many games to hit this level and I've improved so much. Pokemon was the only TCG I've ever played (not even a competitive level. I was like 8) -- so I was shocked that I've made it this far in Hearthstone.
I know ladder will reset on January 2nd, but still, I'm very happy with how far I've come with this game/
I will say that I did sink some cash into this game, but most of my money was spent on Arena before the recent patch. Ughh.
Anyway, YAY FOR ME.
(ps, I will update the food blog soon, I am slow.)

Congrats
It's good to see that you can reach the highest level through just hard work and practise!

I didn't really keep track of that. I would say ~200 - 300 games? I struggled a lot at rank 4. D:
On December 30 2013 16:25 NB wrote: woaaaa nicce!!! Time to man up and write some guides to enlightening the general public on how you did it >.> I take too long to write guides. QQ; But maybe I'll sit down and write a big long blog post about it. However, here's a quick summary of what I did:
1) Play A LOT. I sank probably 6 hours a day just sitting there and playing ladder, arena, or scrimming against friends.
2) Talk to people -- preferably people who've played card games before. My boyfriend coached me when I was just starting off and his background is in MtG, so we'd sit over dinner and discuss the meta or what changes I could make to my deck or his shaman deck. It's always helpful to have people to bounce ideas off of.
3) Research decklists I based my current deck off of USSCaptain's managrind winning rogue deck. I made some substitutions to make it more aggressive though.
4) Watch streams. As I'm typing this, I'm watching Artosis's stream on another monitor.
5) Test your deck and make the appropriate changes to it. Sometimes I'd play a game and think, "Wow, this card sat in my hand all game... Could I have put something else instead?"
6) Be prepared to make mistakes. You're going to mess up, but try not to sweat it too much. I've messed up games, gotten really upset, and then just gone on a massive losing streak. Your state of mind has a huge affect on your game play.
7) Repeat steps 1 - 6 until Legend.
When you climb the ranks, try to remember who plays what deck, because it's likely you'll end up playing the same people over and over again. Your opponents will probably be doing the same thing.

It's sort of the Hearthstone equivalent to GM in SC2. Ranking system is a bit different in HS though. You basically rank up by wins (rank 25 - 1), but once you get to Legend, it uses an MMR point system.

The only way this could be more epic is if you had put I am Legend. As the title of your blog.

That's incredible dude! Congratulations :D.

Congrats Kier! I remember having at least one tough game vs you on my own Legend grind. Took me about 90 games from rank 5 to Legend for those who were asking (at ~66% winrate). Probably could have done it in 70 but I lost 4 times on win and in games.
|
Congrats duder.
I started playing myself, I think i have 1 epic (Molten Giant) and like 2 rares (for hunter/warrior) and it seems nearly impossible to win vs. people who have like 5 legendary cards and umpteen rare/epics. My win record is probably like 20%, which is pretty frustrating.
TIPS PLS

Thanks :D Yeah, I feel like I've definitely played you multiple times and each game was pretty close. Congrats on hitting legend too! Wooo! Now we both have to start over... QQ

There's currently a hunter deck with very flew legendaries. It's pretty darn consistent too. Here's one variation.. You can swap out Leeroy for an arcane golem.
Additionally, I've seen Knife Juggler instead of Wild Pyromancer.
