But I just played the best game of my career.
When I say best, I don't just mean I played the best that I've ever done (although I did) I mean I had the most fun out of practically every game I've ever played.
It was extremely close, it was long and micro-intensive, and there was nonstop action. Neither of us made a single, game-defining mistake, and instead the game was drawn out into a long series of plays that slowly shifted into my favor and I won. My multitasking, my templar micro, my map awareness, my gamesense, and my overall macro was the best I had ever played. I'm really happy I stayed on top of my upgrades almost perfectly. The only big mistake I made was that I forgot I had a twilight council and I ended up building two by accident. But it worked out, because I had enough money to research charge and blink at the same time.
I'm sure I would have liked the game much less if I had lost, because I like winning and I really can't deny that, whether it's a character flaw or not. But the truth is, I wish all my games played out like this one, whether I win or lose. True happiness in starcraft comes from games that are rewarding regardless if you win or lose, and for me, that comes from long, close games, that are not decided by one huge mistake that ends the game.
Also, after the game, my opponent messaged me and we talked about the game and congratulated each other on what we did well. I'm sure that made both of us feel better too.
I don't always enjoy playing Starcraft 2, but it's games like this that bring me back time and time again.
