Now that GSL is displaying their program through twitch, it is possible to see the amount of viewers on the stream at one time.
Right now, after the first match, it is at a steady 6,500. Not sure what it will get up to, but I have always wondered how many people watch the GSL. Maybe there are more that watch it on TV (if it is actually on TV in Korea, idk) and many would watch vods, but I always thought it would be a bit higher.
Ah well, still great numbers for a great game, long live GSL

Not too surprising numbers imo, considering how many games get shown and what not. It is also in a bad time zone for the majority of the Americas to watch.

I believe GOM makes more money on VODs than live. 100k people watched the group A vods, for example.

well.. its the english broadcast, and therefore the vast majority of target audience is US/EU. I think its pretty much in the middle of the night for americans, and surprisingly a lot of europeans don´t have the time to spend their day watching GSL. For me GSL broadcasts begin at 10 am. and end about 2-3 pm. That doesn´t work to well with working or university schedules.
Not that big of a surprise that most people decide to watch the VODs rather then live then.

Long live GSL, indeed!!
I only watch the VODs, as I'm never awake for the livestream sadly. It's good to see so many thousands of people are still willing to watch it live in support of it however.
|
Most of people that I know stopped watching GSL, eventhough its 4pm-7pm.
I watch it rarely. (watched 2 first games of last final then left the stream, wasn't interesting at all)

I can't watch GSL very often, because it's in a very inconvenient timeframe for me I try to watch the vods, though.

I decided to change it, but I don't really know why I did it. Anyway, how's the liquor there?

Not a regular spectator but great caliber games over the last few days too, if the natural disaster has brought them more viewers on twitch and own3d this was probably opportune timing
