You said you had debates, it won't be a debate if the other person doesn't have his own point. In truth, people HEAR what they don't want to hear, but it is how they respond and if they care or not that makes you think they don't hear it.

However with time you will have to learn that you need to lie everyday, as long as your true beliefs triomph in the long run (i.e: To fuck over people you don't like, and to achieve your goals). I think that's an accurate short description for most of the top "jobs" or activities. Can you be a politician if you tell your real feelings ? Can you be a businessman if you never lie ? We have to lie all the time to be successful. You have to charm people, to behave according to social norms even if it seems boring or stupid because you don't want to be ostracized. So basicly shut up and ignore if you can't gain anything from them. When you go up in the society hierarchy people like that disappear.

Do you think it is better for people to hear sugar coated lies to make you feel better, but when you fall out of the plane and onto the cloud of lies your body goes through it? That's one way of looking at it. I took your post seriously until the long paragraph about how you make irreverent comments for the holy hell of it. I'll give you this much - you've got interesting ideas, but they're going to change once you get out into the real world. And no, I'm not talking about college. 10 years from now you're probably going to look back on this post the same way I look back on livejournal entries when I was in high school: a glimmer of truth and a lot of naivete...

Almost everything in this world arguably revolves around lies or witheld information, and I think that's a natural thing to occur. People don't like being reminded of their flaws endlessly, and I'm certain if I told you that you were a stupid ugly fuck over and over every day you wouldn't either. If you want to criticize people, do it in a constructive manner. On a happier side note, look up the movie Liar Liar. It showcases what it is like to not be able to lie in life, and I think the lesson it teaches about telling the truth where it counts and withholding it when you need to is really nice.

it'll get better in time, especially when you start learning to pick your fights though the ability to focus on something you find interesting will help (aka if you underachieve in traditional ways, at least achieve in ways that are interesting to you)

I hate her for other reasons, but I won't deny she's a very smart person and respectable. Her response was anecdotal and hardly a good argument, but since most people don't think too logically, it's a good burn lol.

Public schools ban religious and political conversation completely. This school seems to have at least some degree of allowance to converse about these more controversial topics. It seems odd that this would be the case in Canada (maybe a tad more liberal than the U.S., but overall similar culturally). At my high school there are four different teacher-sponsored political groups, and a couple (not school-sponsored) religious groups. In debate class we obviously talk a lot about politics and we just about talk endlessly about religion and politics in AP World History as well (although the teacher does not really advocate for any one position). Note that this is a public school.

Note that this is a public school. i guess everywhere is different. in the states i'd bet you have a ton of christian school clubs in the south/bible belt area. theres nothing wrong with discussing politics in my school and it's very much encouraged. teacher sponsored political groups is a no-no since parents could complain to hell about indoctrination and influence... oh and op theres a difference between being a douche and being constructive. it sounds like you're just being a douche and you think you're being constructive/helpful. sounds like you're just harping on and on about how people are phonies and you're a the truth deliverer sure, I love wasting my time helping out bronzies nice response.
