Starcraft2 analogies #1: The Midgame Plan. sc:
There’s a very simple notion in the game in revolves the idea of a midgame plan. What is it that I want in the midgame? Of course I want to win, but that is the end game plan, and there’s so many ways to do it. The idea is to be specific, with small steps. Maybe what I want is a 11 minute marine hellion medivac push with 3 rax, 2 fact, combat shields, stim, and blue flame, while securing my 3rd, afterwards in which I’ll take my extra 2 geysers, and switch into double tank, triple reactor rax production while getting +1/+1. Now, you don’t have to know anything about starcraft to know that it sounds like a really really laid out plan. What if the opponent goes for a mass +1 roach/ling/bling push? What if he eco baneling busts me? What about fast muta since I have no turret defense? None of it matters. The point is that no matter the course of the early game, I’m always trying to get back to my mid-game plan.
life:
Just as starcraft rewards those with good on-the-fly decision making and crisis management, life rewards those with mental stability, adaptability, and a calm mind. Maybe for once, life isn’t as complicated as starcraft. Maybe your midLIFE goal is to be done with college, work at a stable job, and rent in comfortable apartment while dating someone you hope to marry. Maybe that’s when you’re 30. Maybe an earlier goal is to be done with college, at a stable job, not career, but looking for one, and trying to move out of your apt/parents house to a new place. Maybe you’re 25. (timings vary, get it? lol.) Either way, nothing in life is smooth. It’s about making and taking opportunities. When something wrecks the state of the game/life, it’s about finding ways to get back on track, knowing the goal, changing it if need be, but always having one. Think of it as a big connect-the-dots picture, where the lines represent your path in life and the dots represent places in life. If the big picture is your goal in life, then the more dots you add in, the easier it is to draw. The more goal checks you have for yourself, the smoother the picture is. The more dots you remove, the harder it is to see the final product. If you don’t have enough dots, you can’t even get to the picture. It’s just a line. Where and what is the goal?
Maybe you miss scouting the baneling nest by a pixel and you lose the set. Maybe your 4 year plan turned into a 5 year plan. In both situations you’re behind, but in both a bo7 or in 7 years, it’s minor. With a good plan and good execution, no matter the set back, those who deserve it ultimately succeed.

For me, all of my trials are like the fight to reclaim Aiur. It's very difficult, but it must be done!

I feel that's analogous to what Gretorp sometimes does as a caster.

no offense but life has nothing to do with starcraft 2 strategy. Any analogies are pure fabrication,

Almost as good as "gf does keen analysis of Starcraft game", but not quite.
