Now this is not a guide if you were looking for one, and this is not an overview of all of them. I know choosing a race is easy to some people but it is definitely not for me. At all. I have played all the races at least twice now. Yeah, I know, but I cannot decide which I want to play and which I am best at. I like Terran, fun to play, I like the style, etc. But I just got interested in Toss after watching MLG. How could I not? After watching HuK play so good, I wanted to play some games myself. That is a pretty bad problem for me, I don't know if it is the same for you, but after seeing intense games from pros that make it look so interesting and fun, I just want play the race they play. If that makes any sense what-so-ever. I just don't know. I like all the races, and I haven't really developed a playstyle because I am in the lower leagues. After switching so much, I have no idea what to play as all seem awesome. What do you guys expect? Sorry if this blog seems kind of rushed, just trying to get a post in before bed, thanks!

Sounds like you should just play as Random. Just play all of them until you decide for yourself

I wish I had your choice. I picked up SC2 from bestbuy, downloaded all the patches (was 1.1.3 at the time) and clicked play. Terran was automatically selected, so I play Terran. I thought about switching races when I was in the meh leagues (silver-plat), but I decided to get good. I did. Got to 3k Diamond Rank 1 in my league (highest league at the time), then got very scared of laddering because my Bio TvZ stopped working (I hated tanks soo bad).

I think its not what race you chose which is important, it's your drive to get better. If your drive is not there, just play random, it's the funnest, IF you drive is there, choose the race your best at, and only play it, even in team games.

This is exactly how you should go about choosing this.

I mean, i personally enjoy playing zerg. I'll play random in team games just to experience the other races, and some variety, but by and large, i'll play zerg 1v1.

I know a lot of my friends can't stand playing zerg. It's all a matter of personal preference.

Don't play random, otherwise you don't really get to experience the races

For instance, if you random zerg vs. a terran, there's no chance he'll 11-11rax you. Just cycle through all 3, zerg-protoss-terran

If you want to win, play terran. If you like a race for a certain cool-factor (I like me some mindless slavering bugs personally) then pick whoever. This paradigm (imo) is unlikely to change with HotS.

I'm the same way, but playing all of the races really makes it so much more difficult to get better. Not only do you have to practice a minimum of 9 openings, with more if you want to adjust for map and scouting information, but the number of times you make it to the mid game and late game with each race against each race is a fraction of what it could be. And there isn't an ideal substitute for developing that mid and late game facility through actually experiencing it, in my opinion.

Although, if you think you can afford to practice that much more, then Random seems ideal.

Otherwise, I'd suggest picking the race with the mirror match up you like the most, or hate the least. I switched from Random to Protoss to Zerg to Terran to Zerg to Random, before finally settling on Protoss again. And it's because I can't stand ZvZ, and while I do like TvT, it just takes way too long and I'm only going to get more and more pressed for time.

The way I'm going to decided my race is basically when I know what the new units will do in HotS. I'm pretty sure I've already picked my race, but I'll just let the new unit to give me more incentive to do so.

random it up bro! laddering as random is great fun and sometimes you even get free wins without even cheesing, when i play random I usually get someone who opens with a COMPLETELY wrong build against my race (not saying their build can't work its just that 1/1/1 isn't so great when I random zerg)

not to mention the fact that you get great experience and game sense
