Cut an hour out of that time and go running. You could try alternating running/swimming and strength training... basically, hit the gym (and get back on whatever diets you've tried)! You can always try paleo, which a lot here will suggest, but it's a pretty difficult transition.

Also, join some kind of sporting team/squad/group. This is the easiest way to keep fit, while also making a lot of friends and having fun. Hopefully this will also cut back your playing time =P. Now, your playing time. You are seriously going to have to cut back severely - if this is too hard for you, cut back little by little. First week, cut back half an hour a day. Second week, cut back one hour a day. Your going to need to be very determined to do this as you probably are addicted. If this does not work for you I seriously suggest you go to a councellor. Especially since you are only in year 8. I think the biggest problem for you is the playing time. Diet + exercise is a much bigger problem to a lot of people, therefore being more help available. You should seek help for that. Your playing time is all about self-determination to cut back. You must do this for your greater good, otherwise you are setting yourself up to an unhealthy life :/ Sorry if this is very negative to you, I'm trying to give constructive critism. Remember, it's all about determination, and good luck!

soooo... what worked for me is... i started eating more vegetables and fruits. not even everyday, and usually only once a day. i kinda exchange one regular meal by a shitload of vegetables and fruits. and i work out 3 times a week. these two combined will almost guarantee you an easy and steady weightloss, that might be slow, but it's easily sustainable.

I know a lot of people around that height and weight and they don't even look close to overweight.

Most of all, understand that losing weight isn't an overnight thing, it's a lifestyle change. Since you play a ton of Starcraft I can see just fine that you're able to dedicate yourself to something you deem important, so put that same passion in controlling what you eat and taking 30-90 minutes a day being active. Get your hands on a scale, too, and weigh yourself constantly. You'll see that after you begin to see the results you'll want more of it. Sorry for being long-winded, and I hope I was helpful

It's entirely dependent on body composition. The height and weight by themselves mean nothing -> note that OP points out he has little muscle mass. I can attest to this: I am 5'10 and am similarly muscle-impoverished - I can drop all the way down to 135 lbs before I am totally lean.

And of course, stay away from obviously unhealthy things. Obviously this is not a great solution if you want to drop quickly, or you are really bothered by your weight

Playing starcraft that much won't make you fat. Also riding your bike everyday is a pretty good low key exercise. It seems your eating habits are very poor though. It can be quite difficult to stick to a diet, however there are a few rules of thumb that can help you decide what to eat. 1 - # of ingredients. The more ingredients something has, probably the more processed it is with chemicals and preserves. You know what's in carrots? Carrots. You know what's in oatmeal? Dried oats. What's in chocolate puff sugar nonsense? About 30 things. 2 - Recognizable ingredients. The more chemicals and processed sugars in food, the worse off they are for you. If you recognize all the ingredients (and they aren't butter, lard, and sugar), it's probably healthier for you also. 3 - Drink water and milk. Don't worry too much about cutting from 1% to skim or anything. Just focus on cutting out sugary drinks like sodas, juices, and sports drinks (unhealthy unless you are actually participating in a high intensity sport and really need the extra sugar). 4 - The more colors your food is, the more kinds of nutrients you are getting. This applies to fruits and veggies, which you should try to eat lots of. If any family members have issues related to weight and unhealthy life-style, such as type 2 diabetes, this can be part of your argument. If you still have trouble convincing your parents, bring it up with your school nurse, or your own personal doctor at the next visit (or drag your parents there for a second opinion). GL. Get your homework done and make sure to spend time with friends too.

That's kind of the stimulus that spurs the action of eating food. Huh? Yes, people normally eat when they are hungry. Thats a given. Most people that are overweight however, continue to eat when they are satiated, or just eat when they aren't hungry. It's definitely more than possible to follow the "eat when your hungry"/"listen to your body" approach. However to be successful with this it's pretty important to have good nutrition. If your throwing down a big soda, some fries, and a burger you can eat a very high number of calories and not feel all that full. On the other hand if your drinking plenty of water, high amounts of fruits/vegetables, less empty sugars, etc its much harder and if you listen to your body you can be quite successful. Of course, there are many other approaches such as following a diet, following a weight loss program, counting calories, etc. Counting calories works because calories control weight. Nothing else. 3500 calories is equivalent to one pound. So if you eat 500 calories per day MORE than you are burning/using then you will gain one pound a week. Reverse the numbers and you lose one pound per week. It's VERY important though to understand that weight loss is not a day to day thing. One day you can check the scale and be 154, the next day, even with a good calorie deficit the day before you can be 158. Weight flucuates significantly day to day, and hour to hour. If you are going to measure your goal by weight loss, be sure to use a rolling average of 1-2 weeks, or else your get discouraged seeing a 154, followed by a 158 even though it means NOTHING. It's worth noting that while you aren't at an "ideal" weight you aren't much overweight either. 157 and 5'8" is well within the "normal/healthy" range for BMI. Now for a guy with no muscle somewhere between 130 and 140 would have you at a very lean "ripped" 6-9% BF type range. So I'd say at MOST you might have 20 pounds to lose, if that.

There's nothing wrong with eating meat, but stay away from fast foods. It's the shittiest thing you can do to your body and fast foods packs a shit ton of calories. Just one big mac + coke + large fries contain more calories than a healthy breakfast + healthy lunch + healthy dinner. DO NOT DIET! FUCK DIET! If you like eating meat, do so, but not excessively and you need to exercise -- change your lifestyle. You do not need to go extreme on this. Just a daily 30 -45min work out will do! BUT IT HAS TO BE DAILY! Make it a habit and your body will become acustomed to it and your metabolism will improve and you'll burn quite some fat, but obviously not overnight. Commitment is required on your part if you want to be lean and healthy. You love eating and always feeling hungry? Eat canned tuna! It has 0% fat. Meaning you could eat all you want. However, as awesome as that sounds. I suggest combining it with salad, tomato to add some taste or otherwise you'll get sick of it really fast. Do not add salt to it, as salt plays a major role in the whole make-you-fat. Again, it's all about dedication, commitment and self-esteem. If you can find all those 3, you'll get closer to your goal every day. Set a time! Work out at that exact same time every single day! You're tired? Feel lazy? You should tell yourself that you don't give a fuck, it's xx:xx time and you hvae to work out. You also need to drink a lot of water every day! I'm pretty sure you don't, and when you don't your body stores water, but once you make the habit of drinking a lot ( the human body requires at least 8 glass of water everyday to remain hydrated), your body will release that stored water. Oh, and avoid coke, pepsi etc. -- EDIT You do not need to buy any will-make-you-slim dvds! If you have an iphone or something, download the Nike Training Club. It's a free app, however, you will require to buy dumbells and a medicine ball, but it's worth it. I have tried P90x, Insanity challenge, George St-Pierre fit program and none of them were made for me. I got the Nike Training Club and I have been doing it for 5 weeks now, I'm not sure why I'm still using it, but it's been working for me so far!
