I'm fine. I have lots of work at the moment so I wasn't really able to write anything. But tonight I feel like putting on paper some ideas I had earlier.
First those ideas came when I saw an old OSL/MSL (can't remember which one exactly...) hype thread. Part of the thread was about putting similarities between SC BW progamers and Historical characters.
I want to develop that concept here, because I think it is fun. I will extend it to SC II !
imMVP | ego Julius Caesar
Well first, I think it's really safe to assume that the roman army was really like the terran army. A very good infantry, of professional soldiers (like the marines) that are pretty tough (anyone saw the TV show Rome). A reliable army too, that you can trust to do the job well and without any flaws. A force that you should position and lead carefully, but definitely a force to be recknoed with. A defensive army too (Caesar often talks in his book Commentarii de Bello Gallico (something like "Comments on the Wars of Gaules" in english I presume) how important it is to establish fortress during winter on occupied territoy). So, I think the Terran are more like space romans more than anything ! ^^
Then, it's certain the two man have some elements in common. I'm not the kind of guy that will overextend their love to players like a certain caster (Sisotra I love you <3) but when I think of MVP, and when I see him play, it always reminds me of Caesar. Everything he does his strategically oriented. It's not like Bomber, where Bomber acts a lot with a savage and star-sense instinct. It's more like a well thought plan that goes unchecked and a wonderful ability to do some crisis management. At the battle of Alesia in which he won against Vercingetorix, he slowly established a contain of the ennemy, a little bit like MVP and this game vs MC the Arrogant (you sincerely deserved that spot in Code B for that one !) in group stage of last GSL.
When I talk about crisis management, I talk about that Caesar trapped in this palace in Egypt (source : Rome TV show, and I don't quite manage to find the historical evidence yet). The palace is besieged for over a year if I remember correctly, but that doesn't make Caesar fall, even if he is by a large margin in a supply deficit, that being said without mules. Still, Caesar wins.
Caesar, politically speaking, was a real shark. He faced off his ennemis as much as his friends in battle, but he was always able to win against them in battle. He defeated that way Pompey, which he avenged the death afterwards. Tell me how many times MVP destroyed Nestea (and how many times more in the future...) ?
Cleopatra, the lady that makes me feel really lonely
This two guys have a lot in common. MVP just miss Cleopatra, assurely ! If we continue the story, MVP should still be successful for a while before getting killed by his adoptive son. That would mean that the all team, jealous of his success, lead by the influence of Nestea, would conspire agaisnt him, and assurely Happy would strike the last blow. Happy, you traitor !
FXOLeenock | Lancelot of the Lake
First thing I want to say : they are many, many different versions of the "fictionnal" character of Lancelot. He is not a stricly "historical" character, but here is what I feel like it is more than gold valuable truth. Live with it !
Now, it's pretty clear : Leenock's grail is a quest for a GSL win ! His road has been difficult : a player with a great potential, promised to so many things, but he has to prove himself. Some might call that bad luck ; the thing is Leenock seems to be a rookie for so long now, having hard troubles going to code S. This is Leenock's initiatic training for becoming a knight, a training Lancelot had to do as well.
Even if Lancelot sinced to have a really easier path (which still included fighting some 20 knights in order to face "The Copper Knight"), he got really troubled when in charge of the quest for the Grail. Because now that Leenock's path for code S is over, he has to get the championship. And, you must now that Lancelot only got a glimpse of the grail, but never got it.
Some call it luck... I call it destiny !!
Guenivere in King Arthur (bad movie)
For Leenock, it's more a certain feeling I have he would suits very well in the knight's in search costume. Leenock is not a conqueror like MVP is. Leenock has to fight his deamons (his destiny), has to fight harden that ever and to overcome his witnesses in order to move forward. Lancelot did it as well.
The only elements that bugs me is the queen ! Lancelot had a secret's affair with Arthur's. Leenock, any dark secrets for us ? :p
I'm still thinking more about the other ones. Stay tuned
and good night and good luck
