There is something about utterly terrible and cliche movies that somehow draw me to watch them again and again. Is it their predictable plots that have me practically wording each line with ease and practically arrogance? This very predictability also may be the reason I keep watching for it leaves me comfortable and secure, knowing that what will lie ahead is something I recognize, expect and in the end, do not need to fully pay attention to.

Something about it. I guess it's the easy classification of emotions, where I know what I'll be feeling is simple, obvious and I can just watch without feeling these tugs of controversy, debate or deep thinking (I used to do a lot of it when I was a teenager/adolescent, as all kids think they do [me included], so I dread going back to those endless fights with myself].

What drew me to watching terrible movies is this one generic day I somehow am compelled to write about. A few entries ago, I wrote about dreading to go to the dentist and in the end, I did end up going. The issue is that in the end, I didn't get to see the dentist.

***

I woke up somewhat early in the day, in fear that I was missing my class [however, I soon realized that I would be missing my class for the dentist anyways]. I skipped breakfast because I didn't want my teeth looking any worse than they already do (I don't think my brushing is up to a dentist's standards to be honest, so I didn't take any chances).

Left about two hours before my appointment. I know the bus ride takes about 45 minutes to get there, 8 minute walk to the metro and a 13 minute ride on the metro should I arrive at :21 (believe it or not, the metro always arrives at the :21 mark in the early morning to 11 o'clock).
21 + 45. Plenty of time to get there.

On the ride over, I was debating whether or not I should get some food after the dentist appointment. What I hate the most about the cleaning is that they make your teeth feel either out of place, sharp as fuck, or just uncomfortable or irritable (for me, my lips start itching which causes me to nip at them a bit). I had a lot of fun at home and last month I spent 800$ on eating delicacies and major grocery shopping, wasn't comfortable in paying that again...

The "delicacies" lolololol. From my favourite restaurant: Lucca. All fresh true Italian foods (owned by two Italian brothers in Little Italy)

Upon arriving, I realized that although the metro comes every few minutes, the bus comes every 1/2 hour to an hour (I don't recall). I haven't taken the bus in years back to my hometown, so this concept eluded me entirely. I rushed on line for my ticket, paid for it and ran off to my gate. Thankfully, the bus was arriving in 15 minutes which left me with borrowed time of 7 minutes give or take (adjusted for walking distance from bus stop to dentist building) and thus the entire trip would take now only: [66 + 15] 81 minutes or about and hour and 21 minutes. All this basic math was wounding my head up, nearly causing me to miss my call.

A familiar voice screamed in my ear: turns out that the "Answer" button my cellphone is also exactly where the speaker button is after you accept the call, so everyone heard my mother yell at me that my credit card has been canceled (although I don't speak to my mother anymore since I've been on my own, she still handles a lot of my affairs purely by necessity and experience -- long story). Apparently some asshole has been making fraudulent charges on my card. I'm not sure how because I have the card with me and I disabled the PIN so that I have to manually sign all receipts (my new card has the pin reactivated). But somehow they did it, I asked a few friends and apparently it's possible to make copies of your card through the chip, wow...

In any case, the card got canceled right after I bought my bus tickets. So that saves me the debate on whether to spend more food and it luckily got canceled right after I bought what I needed. Even Stevens or something, right?

The ride over was easy, simple. A few girls continuously glanced at me as I just watched all the cities I live near pass by: St-Bruno, Beloeil and finally St-Hilaire. Unlike in Montreal, you'll find very few English speakers (or first-language English speakers additionally) around the area. It's a pretty nice overall area: squished between two or three mountains (St-Bruno and St-Hilaire), you'll find that everyone pretty much tends to themselves though will pick up a casual conversation in almost any area. They all treat each other like mates, friends or familiars and there's a level of trust here that you don't usually find in some parts of the United States (at least where I came from and also live).

I rushed over, went up the stairs to be greeted by the secretary who gave me a disappointed face: turns out I was 8 minutes late and they had given my appointment to someone else. Off the bat I wondered: who the fuck could they give it to in such short notice and during a workday in addition that he or she arrives in under 8 minutes (it wasn't the guy after me because I asked if I could have his or her spot instead). I apologized for coming in late, if I could take the other guy's spot [nope] and if I could have an appointment as soon as possible [to which I tried to show her that I haven't been here for 2 years and that my molars are turning black]. She gave me the sympathetic nod, closed her eyes and just yes'd me until I waited for a proper appointment: September 30th. She wrote it on a card in case I forgot: thanks?

Missed a class, missed the dentist appointment, can't buy food to cheer myself up. I shrugged and was anxious to on the bus, haven't ridden a car in a long time (a few taxis here and there, but they were short rides within the city).

Not the end of the world to be honest, nor a real complaint. A look back of this town had me truly smile and just enjoy the trip despite its unfinished ending.

So far, I've watched about maybe 4 terrible movies?

I've watched Push: which involves no backstory of some organization wanting use special power people for weapons or law enforcement and those very people continously refer to themselves in the titles the organization gives them despite wanting to break free or escape from them [ugh...]. They're trying to retrieve some woman who somehow manages to survive some enhancement drug and bla bla bla, story ends on a sequel with the only decent acting from Dakota Fanning who I absolutely cannot stand since War of the Worlds

Then I watched Friends with Benefits: thinking it'd redeem itself by its attempt to not be a typical and cliche comedy romantic considering Justin Timberlake's and Kunis' recent stellar acting. However, while it opens quite nicely and comfortably, it falls back into the rhythm of predictability when the two try to rationalize having sex without the relationships by A. both being named "damaged or emotionally unavailable" B. coincidentally both have huge parent issues and have single-parent families and C. try to rationalize the exercise of sex as a sport or something that should be commonly acted upon without the contingencies of a relationship. This conversation has been fucking done a million times by almost every sitcom, including Seinfeld (one of their first episodes too). If you're wondering if it's literally the same? Not quite, because Seinfeld follows the cues of basic rational thought and the movie sets ground rules, breaks them and then sets upon the stage of miscommunication into lack of expression into they all fall in love with one another.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLohZ8Y2YJM

Haha, porn. Oh look, they're now making sports-like comparisons!

Thankfully, someone agrees with me [I just youtubed this]

Is it good writing when both characters seem to not express themselves clearly or poor writing? Good writing because it extends the movie by an additional 20 minutes (because the girl somehow doesn't clearly understand a situation while the male continuously acts ignorant and blind about the female's lack of clarity about her emotion) or bad because the writers are complete preadolescent idiots?

One wonders.

The last two are something something Star Wars Episode 1, 2, 3. Something I thought was good when I watched back then (and never saw again), but soon realized how fucking terrible it was.

And now I'm watching Jackass 3D which is, despite my attempt to sound mature, is fucking hilarious and makes me giddy. Such childish crude humor that I yearn nowadays... how sad?

I thought Friends with Benefits really was quite okay. Wasn't spectacular, but wasn't particularly bad. I haven't watched some of the other similar movies, since I generally find romantic comedies extremely boring. I have no comment on the food because I am allergic to it :D

It's not the worst of romantics (watch Feast of Love, Morgan Freeman couldn't fucking save that movie), but it really could have been better.

Then again, I adored Time Traveller's Wife.

Of course I'm broadening the "romantic" genre.

I think the actors made a really good combination though ;3

FWB, I could see. It was light-hearted and it didn't slide too low in its traditional (up and down story-telling).

But Push, really? There is nothing redeeming about that movie at all.

That Italian food makes me so jelly right now. $800 is a lot to spend on food though. (I assume it's in Canadian Dollars?) I would totally not be able to afford that, haha. ^^;

I wish I could just have dinner with her every night and watch movies.
Only redeeming part of Star Wars.

Zooey, not so much. How anyone can like her is beyond my understanding. Hated her in Elf, hated her in Bones, hated her in romantic movie that eludes me right now. Ugh, she can sing and she can act, she is just unattractive in so many aspects.

Lucca, it's about 20$ per plate (their duck is succulent and is about 60$), I spent a good load because their appetizers are superb and their Creme Brule is the best I've ever had (though too sweet for me in the end).

800$ in a month, yes, it's Canadian

Thats odd how the dentist would accept another patient when its only 8 minutes late or just the douchebag that took it. Is it only one dentist working on people? The dentist i go to have like 2-3 people that can pretty much clean your teeth without even having to see the big poppa dentist. Sucks you had a bad day. Nice food though

lets just be realistic here, no one's saying you have to think she's gorgeous, but i would be hard pressed to find anyone who could look her in the eye and say she's unattractive.

(and for the record, her new show looks awful on more ways then i can count)

LOL, TROLL 2. I think even Conan was talking about that.
These are the recent movies I saw, they're not the standard of terrible movies.

No idea. To be honest, I've been meaning to switch dentists to someplace closer, but 1. I love the trip out there, seeing the more suburb and rural life when you're in the city for many years is somehow enjoyable.

Not that bad of a day :3

I just read that she's starting a sitcom soon. You'll soon realize that her appearance and acting will not be top notch.

Sure, she's really enjoyable for about 20 minutes of a movie, but that's probably all I can take of her for the rest of my life. I love her voice, her singing is this old... cabaret? Yes? I don't know, but she isn't attractive at all for me, doll face, but no, not for me. Sadly.

It's the whole ensemble I guess. Nice nose, nice hair when she puts it in bangs, but when you look at it pieced together as a whole, I get repulsed.

Then again, I've been told my taste in women is strange to say the least :B
