So every now and then you play a game and the other player leaves when the game starts (or very soon after). To me this is the most annoying thing as it boosts my MMR when I didn't deserve it or get better from the game. Although its nice to get points for it I feel like I didn't deserve them (even though there is nothing I could of done about it).
The thing that I love most about SC2 is the feeling you get from out playing your opponent but its people like this who rob me of that chance (I understand there are legit reasons to leave sometimes) and in the game this just happened I don't think he had to leave for anything important. + Show Spoiler +
So do you guys enjoy the free win and the nerds ladder points or are you like me and feel saddened that you didn't get to play your game as the guy left? Also if you have any experiences then feel free to post about them!

I do enjoy a free win tbh. My goal is Masters league, and it's one step closer to getting there. Whether that means pushing myself harder by playing a higher level opponent through the MMR boost that this gives, or whether it's just free ladder points, I feel like it's definitely helping me get there more than it's hurting.

I do not understand what you lose in those situations? You say you feel saddened that you did not get to play. But what stops you from just joining another game?
I guess I am just confused. The matchmaking surely does not take so long that you have invested a lot of time to find the opponent that, for whatever reason, just left.

I for one do enjoy getting the free ladder points. I don't think anyone has ever just left a game with me like that, but sometimes people lag out, and I'm not one to say no to free stuff. That said, I do understand how you feel. If I were to win say 5 games in a day due to someone leaving or lagging out, I would probably be bothered by not being able to play out those games and get better. As it is though, this happens to me very rarely, so it is not an issue I generally worry about.

I do kinda feel what you mean OP, it is indeed p empty. Unlike (seemingly) most people, I play for fun, not for some arbitrary goal. But try not to dwell on it too much.

This specific match was pvz on scrap station so I don't mind as much that he left but sometimes I get my favorite map and MU and the other player just quits and then I'll get stuck playing pvp. Its true I can just join another game but people had to wait till the ladder locks to decide to quit lol.

I enjoy the free win most of the time. Sometimes though, I'm looking for a satisfactory win, and then I hate it. So its situational. But mostly, I totally enjoy increasing my totally arbitrary and not skill-showing number.

Im usually disappointed. Its like i get all ready to go and then... no one is racing me. Kinda deflated feeling. But then Im happy that I got free points.

The guilt trip is strong in this one. Might want to dial down the empathy a little. Feeling guilty about someone quitting a game on you, when you can find one in the next 5 minutes is bordering on madness, or some kind of psychological issue at least.

it just means you get to play better people (on average)
it's a good thing.

I certainly don't mind free points, but when things are going well and then a disconnenct or a leave happens it usually makes me sad.
The best ones are when you're gonna lose and then the other person lags out

To be fair I do hate it sometimes, I play Zerg(which means 50% are ZvZs that you play) so.....when I get a Terran and he decides to 2rax allin me with SCVS and I hold it off and the game is over in less then 5-8min I am like.......yeah.
fucking Allins.

Quoted for truth.
I have had to leave many games because real life shit pops up, normally I just type something full of obscenities and leave the game, it sucks but it can happen, I don't feel bad if its the other way around and real life is more important than SC2 games.
