Hey!

Recently summer has started and it's gotten really hot. The air is constantly 25+ celsius. With that came also a problem. My room is in a crappy location and in the evenings the sun shines to my room. Then it get's really hot(currently 34°C/~93°F), and it gets hard to play SC2.
What are some ways to make the room/myself colder?

Sorry for my bad english.

- Tape some heavy white paper to your window to block out the sun or install a cheap set of blinds
- Wear only your boxers now that no one can see you.
- Get a fan and have it blow all the sweat away and circulate air in the room

Personally I don't mind the heat up to about 38C doing those things.

What I do at my home is basically just open windows at night. The cool air will circulate, and keep temperatures down in the morning. Of course, this doesn't really help you at night now... I agree with ZeaL; my air conditioning doesn't turn on till the temperature has hit nearly 90 degF, but I use a fan. Part of it is just getting used to the heat, I suppose.

You know one of those sun reflectors people put on the windshield of their car? If you do not mind your room being a little dark, get one of those and block the sun with it. If you are cheap, what I did in university was find a piece of cardboard, cut it into the size of my window, and put aluminium foil over it. It REALLY helps.

There are special bamboo mats that you can get to place on your chair to relief heat.

Get a fan. If you have AC then AC+fan is a great combo as it helps the air circulate.

Natural wind works best if it have a path to enter and escape your room. Keeping your door open by a few inches help.

- air conditioner
- fan
- keep your room's window open all the time (you may also need a net against mosquitos, flies, etc)
- drink cold drinks such as Nestea, beer, etc

These are my preferable ways.

I have cold showers 2x a day. It really helps me cool down and wake up. My SC2 skill goes up 200%.

I also plan my day around the heat. I try to get work done when it is really hot because I can work in shitty conditions. I play SC2 from 8 am to 11 am, then again at 9:30pm to 11:30pm.

I usually find that when I'm getting too hot when playing bw, I'll usually just take off my clothes and play naked. I've also found it increases my APM too.

Here's what you do. Get a small portable tub of water that you can fit your feet into. Fill the tub half way with cool water and add ice. If you dunk your feet in once in awhile by your chair, you won't feel quite as hot anymore... or at least your concern will be how cold your feet are, that the heat doesn't affect you quite as much. It seems odd, and you need to be careful not to knock over the water onto your computer equipment, but it works. Trust me. Other than that, everything everyone has said so far will help. One nice thing about this is if you're already sweating, you won't mind reaching down to spread some of the ice water for your fan(s) to evaporate off your body. Supercool! GLHF

Take a fan like people said, but put a bucket of ice right below it ^.^ That'll teach you to complain about heat.

Nothing beats air conditioning, if you have central air turn it on. It feels like god. I've found that opening windows doesn't really help because outside is also hot, and it makes the air inside feel drafty and terrible.

Its very simple, don't spam at the beginning of games, do easy and simple build that do not requiere intense micro, you might need to change your race. For the early stages of the game you can close your monitor, it will reduce the heat in your room, the screen will be black but with hotckeys you can train probes easy by pressing ''e''. By the 6 or 7 minute mark you will probably need to do some select movement before the attack, all you have to do is to turn it back on, by this time your room will be cooler, leading you to a better experience of the game. This technique can be disavantageous in the late game, your main base tend to mine out, dont worry you dont need to expand, and in case of attack a sound will trigger you so you can react in time. This method is refreshing, an advantage is that your win ratio will be pretty high, it will dodge the rage situation that increase you body temperature. If you play during an entire day, you can get pretty high on ladder, and good way to evacuate the heat builded up in your room is to let your windows open during the night. An other style of play requiere more multitasking, because you will mostly be using your mouse to do everything, its possible to drink cold water and keep yourself hydratated. I hope my post is refreshing and you improve on ladder.

Also a big fan of the cold shower. Do you jump into it cold, or start warm and slowly get yourself to cold?

Wear a wet bandana around your neck,it cools your arteries. Just washing your face with ice cold water a few times before a game helps too. As for the evening sun, I know that feel bro, it's hot as fuck. You just gotta get some curtains to block that.

Here's how you do it:

Buy a bunch of large CO2 cartridges (but I would say that argon, methane, or any other heavy gas works better so you should probably use those). If you release the gas inside, the canister will get very cold. So what you do is you get into a bathtub with them and start using one of those device thingies to open them. As the gas expands and stuff, it cools. Refrigerators work based on this principle. Cold air is denser than hot air so it will stay in the tub. To give the cool air maximum exposure to you, lie down with your head pretty low. You will feel pretty good because of the coolness, but just keep opening the cartridges. 100% safe method of cooling down.

Its due to global warming and using air conditioner will only worsening your problem so obiously you cant go down that route.
Its stupid and its only something which americans does and you dont wanna copy the americans, so there you go.

You should exercise. A body in great condition is also capable of dealing better with extremeties. so get out there and get your pulse up!!

I like to take a small towel, soak it in water, then put it in the freezer for a while. After it freezes a bit, I wrap it around my neck. Ice towel.

I took my gaming experience to the next level, which also solved the cooling problem...

I moved down in my parents basement, it's really chilly and feels good to sleep in when you've been outside all day.

It depends if I feel the core of my body is really warm or not. If my core feels really hot then cold water can be really shocking and hard to adapt to so I start out hot-ish. Otherwise I start cold.

Man I have the same problem but worse.

It's usually only 20 something C outside, but in my room it gets to 30+ C easily after noon time. Then, if I fire up my gaming rig, the temperature rises even further to around 35C.

Damn student housing the lack of AC or the right to install one...
