Hello fellow TeamLiquidians,
I was bored yesterday and wanted to play SC2 but I had no mouse that works properly for Macbook 13''. Anyways I decided to play with my touchpad and played a custom PvT on Xel'naga vs. 3100 Diamond Terran. It is a custom game and he might've tried some new strategy but it was most standard Terran game. Any masters out there, how will your "skill level" decrease if you try to play on Touchpad on shitty mac? Its fun, try it out lol
There is a replay:

P.S. I attacked at the end because my hand got tired, legit excuse

it's a million times more difficult playing on a touch pad compared to a mouse. i only play team games where im screwing around with a touch pad, and i play horridly so i give control to everyone.
|
I know I am in high diamond with touchpad.
|
Yea no thanks. How can you split marines with a touch pad? I'd do horribly if I had to play with a touchpad.
|
I think a touch pad is just soo painfully unresponsive that you'd be mostly limited to A moving. IDK I can't stand to use a touchpad for navigating web.
I'd be interested in seeing if a reliable touch screen interface would be worth playing on. I would imagine you'd have to have it set up so that you were looking down at it (otherwise would be very uncomfortable) something like a table (e.g. how Ruse was demonstrated). I would think moving units and the screen around would feel more natural, but would worry about being able to spam between different control groups and handling production.
Anyone have any experience with this?

I played with a touchpad for 2 days because my mouse broke. My mouse broke just as i got Beta . It was pretty sad, but not as sad as the people i beat. . Shows you pure macro can get you places.

I only played PvT lol , not sure how it would affect other MU

I tried it once and it was the most frustrating thing I have ever experienced. Actually no, it was the second most frustrating thing I have ever experienced.

i would rather shoot myself, i cant even imagine going back to touchpad for starcraft, i used it when i first started out bc i didnt have a mouse, but ever since i got one i cant go back...
edit: i actually just remembered a time in beta where i actually had to use a touchpad to play, so instead of using it i plugged in a mouse and used my leg for the mouse sensor to pick up on, and im pretty confident that my play was better than if i had used a touchpad lol

I played the majority of the campaign with my Thinkpad's trackpoint on a road trip across the States. Not on Brutal though.
|
I can't even use a touchpad when not playing SC so.. yeah, certainly not looking forward to trying that. I'd imagine your range of movement and precision would seriously decrease though and with it your ability to control your units and properly use the minimap.

I never understood why people EVER use touchpads in the first place. you can buy a small mouse for like $3 and just carry it with your laptop. only time id use a touchpad is when there is absolutely no room to place the mouse onto.
|
My mousepad is the leather couch cushion beside me. I don't really play SC2, but when I do, mouse accuracy is terrible, lol.
|
I played touch pad once, cuz i didn't have my mouse with my notebook. apm was about 20 something and i got cannons and massed air units...
won against my plat friends, lol

I played single player campaign the first two days after i bought the game with my touch pad. The experience alone left me not even wanting to touch multiplayer.

I'm a baller, so I bring my MX518 to school with my netbook.

Simple answer: you shouldn't.
|
I've tried out quake with a touchpad, even worse than sc2 I'd imagine...
It's, uh, brutally difficult. Like, not even fun as a gimmick it's so frustrating.
|
This is like asking how to play SC2 with your feet, with great difficulty.
|
I get the feeling this is a thinly-veiled brag thread.
