Lately, as my build orders and unit compositions in all matchups improve, I'm finding that one thing that is losing me games is how I act when the opponent does something unexpected or that I haven't seen before. I can't seem to handle myself properly if I don't know the exact response for something.
I was wondering if ya'll could take a look at a replay from a PvZ I played on Shakuras. Things did not go as planned from the very beginning, and by the end of the game the map was one big mess. All I'm looking for is a few tips here or there on how I could've handled myself differently. My opponent isn't great but he threw some creative play at me that distracted me from what I wanted to do (stalker/voidray/colossi doom-ball).
Here's the replay, It's not extremely long but feel free to run at 2 or 4 or 8x.. http://www.sc2replayed.com/replays/135491-1v1-protoss-zerg-shakuras-plateau
Last time I posted in my blog I got a lot of help from a bunch of people, so I'm coming back for more as times get rough. Any and all comments are much appreciated, thanks a lot.

Before I try to waste your time with my platinum zerg knowledge, what league are you in?
|
Masters league, should've mentioned that, sorry.

Ok, well then I don't expect to be of much help, but I'm going to watch anyways because I'm in the mood and you can't stop me so nyah.
Anything in particular I should be looking for?

I'll watch it.. high diamond after 2 month with broken hand. Give me 5 min.

Sick match =). I can easily understand you got frustrated and attacked after a while defending every expo you had.
He was gooood . Perhaps get 3 observers to move around on the battlefield? I know you opened stargate, but could be useful I guess in mid/late game to see the incoming army (roaches attacked from the side into your main).

1. I think you spent too long on one base...but that might just be personal preference. 2. After he broke the rocks into your main you did nothing to prevent him from periodically coming in and destroying/unpowering a bunch of production buildings. 3. As Qzy said, you could have scouted better. (I understand, for me scouting is the first thing that goes out the window once I get put in a tough position, but it is important to keep scouting because otherwise you are just going to let him dictate the rest of the game, especially when he is using a mobile army like that guy did with his nydus worms.)
I can't think of anything else specific at the moment.

To expand on 1, to me it felt like you spent a long time in the start of the game trying to end it after you denied his expo, but if you had just turned that into an eco advantage by taking an expo (he literally couldn't have done anything against your expo for a couple minutes...and you already had the forge) you would have had a lot of time with no pressure to get your army exactly like you wanted it.

-On one base for too long -After the VR opening you seemed indecisive on your tech path, you built a Robo but only used it to make observers then went all the way to Templar tech before you pushed out. Furthermore, you didn't fully utilize observers from the Robo which would have saved you the game if you scouted that 12 o'clock expansion. -I think you got too defensive when the Mutas, about 6 IIRC, hit. One, maybe two cannons per nexus and then PUSH out. Know that he is just trying to contain you with harass, this is actually the best time to move out if you have ~5 gateways and proper cannon placement. If you move out and he all ins your cannons, warp in stalkers and continue pushing. -You were never really ahead in eco due to poor probe production even though you had your expansion up sooner.
All in all he had clever nydus worm play and you didn't scout as well as you should have which led to him doing a lot of damage even though you had the superior army.
