Take a look at this wonderful game...
http://isleoftune.com/
Take 5 minutes to look at the top50 tracks, and look at the tutorial to understand how to play it.
Now here comes the challenge, compose the LONGEST music, and by longest we mean the longest period of all the loops. For example, if I make a loop using 8 blocks of roads, my music is 8 units long. However, since the car bounce forward and backward, if I leave the 8 roads as a straight line, my music is 16 units long. Your job is to create the LONGEST music possible with the game's constructs, the details are below:
How you will be scored:
1)You will score yourself, justify why your track has the longest period of a certain number, and we can look at it to see if it makes sense, and also enjoy your music!
2)The score will be given as a ratio, that is to say, you will count the raw length of your music, then divide it by the total numbers of road you used. This way, we count the efficiency of your road-laying scheme, rather than just wasting time laying roads all around the map.
happy road laying!!

I tried making something but that scale is super weird

Like bouncy showed me, I think some basic number theory helps! Modular arithmetic baby. Evan, show what you've got and explain it! Edit: Please :-P

The "beat it" is pretty incredible to be honest, but I'm sure someone from TL could easily beat it (not me though) :D

I have to find out how the car works, when do they decide to make a turn?

God damn I can't believe I spent this long looking for a song that plays well on the fucking black keys. Stupid limited music scale. I also thought the song would be added to some kind of internal database that's browsable, but nobody can even see it unless I spam the link at people? This game would be awesome if it had more features akin to Fantastic Contraption.

P.S.: Screw you for showing me this site. Now I'm talking to the creator about feature suggestions and bug fixes.
