During the festivities yesterday something occurred to me: Fireworks are a lot like cheese.
Remember the first time you lit a firecracker? You can probably recall your 7 or 8 year old self standing in the garden with your dad or older brother, holding this mysterious piece of explosive in one hand and a bit of glowing rope in the other. As you light the wick it starts to crackly and sparkle and you´re like OH FUCK SHIT and hurl the thing as far away as your tiny arms can muster.
This might be a similar scenario to when you tried fending off your first cheese. You happen to scout those proxy gateways or those cannons in your base and you go OH CRAP BALLS and you end up doing something really panicy and in the end you roll over and die.
Take heart though! Just like we all learned that we have ample time to gracefully chuck the firecracker aside to a safe enough distance, so also can you learn to deal with the cheesiest of rushes. From what I keep hearing, the amount of cheese going on at the moment is quite ridiculous, so maybe you can use this analogy to strengthen your mentality going into the games and grow out of your 7 year old StarCraft self in the coming year. All the best for 2011!
