Today I had to pick a women up from work, her work not far from her house, but at midnight and -5 outside its better to take a drive. I set out for the pickup with hopes of talking to her before actually going home. (its a pretty relax campus job with no one around at this time of day.)
As I was starting my car I noticed the igniter didn't seem to responsive, but my car started, so I thought nothing of it. As I was driving about 2 blocks away from destination my odometer starts jumping from 25 to 0 back to 25 and then it happens... My car shits out and i'm forced to pull into a side street and act like a bitch in my car for a few seconds...
I noticed that my lights were still on, just that my car wouldn't turn over; I've had a similar issue in the past and I thought that the battery was just corroded-thus I needed to get a new battery. Normally I would say fuck-it and wait until morning, but I had a goal in mind for that night... For that one talk-I couldn't fuck this up. Its 10:30pm-I decided to walk a mile and a half to a Walmart to buy a battery. Luckily I had pliers to change the battery-more to come on that later.
So I get to Walmart 15 minutes before close and go buy a 80 dollar battery that seemed to weigh a ton... I play computer games not work out. :/ So I lug this stupid battery in -5 weather back to my car. I can't feel my face or hands by the time I get back its around 11:10pm.
So as you can freezing fingers pitch dark outside I'm changing a battery with incorrect tools. Takes me 15 minutes to take out the dame bolts and change this damn sucker. Oh and theres flipping battery acid on the bottom of the old one that got all over my shit. Thankfully the quick fix worked and I got going.
Anyways I get to where she works right on time and take her home. I had a good story to tell her-which made her laugh-which in turn made me smile.
In the end for that laugh, well worth it.

Aww that is indeed a cute little tale. We've all endured hardship for ourselves... but it feels so much more meaningful when it's for others.

At first, i thought this would be about a failure in the end. But it kind of ended up being pretty cute, even if it is a little much for one talk (okay, i've done similar things before, so i'm a hypocrite. Deal with it)

I was going to point out that he said he was going to pick up a women but after reading the whole thing I feel bad for even thinking of doing that. 
But I feel really good for you. Had a huge bump in the plan, managed to find a solution, and in the end, the means made the end apparently so much better.
I hope you get more chances to talk with this girl. My heart melted into my stomach and it feels so nice, your story made my night.

Nice story. I was expecting to hear she dicked you over somehow but I'm glad it didn't go down like that. But I have to ask, did you leave around two hours early to pick her up?

I think a quick fix for you in the future is to just pour coke or a soda on the battery. I think the acid from the soda cleans the corrosion

It's nice that you showed her you were willing to go the distance for her, just be careful of how much you let her know. There's a fine line between being an awesome guy and being kinda desperate.
