As the title would imply, I lost a game on ladder recently. No big deal, right? Well, it was more the manner of the loss- namely, I was hugely ahead, had an army about twice the size of my opponents that pretty much totally hard-countered his army (I had Chargelot/Blink Stalker/HT vs. Banshee/Tank/Marine)... and lost by making a billion bad decisions in the last minute of the match. If you really want to watch me be a dumbfuck, you can get the replay here: http://www.sc2replayed.com/replays/95911-1v1-terran-protoss-jungle-basin , but in short:
-I picked a dumbass attack path that, combined with my terrible map vision, led to my army passing right by his without me knowing it
-When the inevitable base-trade occurred, I decided "I'll cripple his production and then go back and waste his army", a decision that seems reasonable enough. However, "going back and wasting his army" consisted of "moving just my stalkers back there, leaving my full energy HTs and Chargelots in his base AFK". Naturally, my stalkers got rolled, and I had nothing that could shoot up.
-I then GG'd, without noting that he wasn't lifting his Command Centers and I likely could have won the base-race with my Zealots and merging my HTs into Archons.
So, yeah, my play at the end was pretty facepalm-tastic all around. And then, to add insult to injury, my next match on ladder I got wasted... by a fucking 6-pool, because I failed to build my wall correctly. On Blistering Sands no less, where the rush distance is 20 goddamn years. Hard to get a wall up when you've only got like 3 days to do it, amirite?
So, where does this connect to anything? Well, as a result of me being pissed at myself, I haven't been wanting to ladder. I've been sticking to the campaign (which is actually surprisingly fun), and the occasional custom with a friend. Every time I think of laddering, I just think "yeah, and I'll just lose a bunch more games by being a fucking tard and get myself demoted back to Silver".
So, here comes the point of this- does anyone have any advice for getting over this mindset and getting back into the game? I know from experience that playing with that kind of mindset doesn't end well, but I can't seem to break the mindset.
