Hey guys, I just watched Phoenix' game against SangHo, Set 1.
He saw that SangHo was going Forge FE, and then proceeded to lay down TWO Hatches before even putting down his pool.
Does anyone have any replays of him doing this build, or, more importantly, have any of you ever seen this before? I feel like if SangHo didn't go Phoenix, err, PhoenixWerra would have been in a very economically sound position.

If I was Z and I 14hatch, I scout P going nexus first, I can take another expansion pretty freely.
|
The ridiculous part of his build wasn't that it was 2 hatches before pool, but that one of them was in such a weird spot.
|
Well, I think it was there as an easy way to connect the creep between the main and the nat, it kinda makes sense from that standpoint. More useful than just throwing right next to his Main Hatch imo.

I wouldn't really worry much about it, because if it's viable we'll see more people doing it. I don't think Werra clan should be looked to for a ton of build with long-term viability.

if you're using 1 queen to spawn larva at 2 hatcheries then you're missing larva spawns immensely, to such an extent that if you haven't connected bases with creep by then, then you've done something incredibly wrong. my assumption was that it was to block the cannon wall off and that it'd only be good on certain maps. better to put it in a useful place rather than a useless one, and the double spawn larva tactic isn't really useful imo.
with that said, i didn't catch the supply counts, but wasn't it basically just that madfrog build that was going around? you can probably find it using search.
also, i don't see most werras as very good but phoenixwerra is pretty incredible, and i was surprised he would be embarassed so badly by anyone, even sangho.

Honestly you can double expand if they do a fast expand, they will have no where near enough units to successfully attack you. I always do it when I see it and I have such a huge influx of money it's really awesome!

It's not that weird. In earlier BW maps it was common that sometimes a zerg player had to secure a choke point instead of an expansion proper with the hatch on 12.

It's pretty smart that Sangho abused the late lair by going phoenix where a normal protoss would probably just play standard in this position.
|
Tried it, got cannoned everywhere, lost. Don't have the replay any more but it was pretty bad, I think a protoss with balls should win that every time.
|
Protoss actually went pylon nexus forge.
|
Man, If my protoss opponent goes pylon nexus forge, I'm takin a third expo, BW style. It still works pretty well. @ Adeny - cannon rush is stoppable with like 4 drones much of the time. shit, when you have 3 bases they could totally destroy one of them with cannons, but if you have like, 1 spine crawler, you still get away with 2 bases, and they have a bunch of cannons doing nothing.
