Yesterday, a thread made a few months ago in the General forum got bumped. The thread discussed the discovery of several score planets that had the potential for life to flourish on them; the bump provided additional information, and the conversation drifted towards colonizing these planets.
Being a science-y kinda guy, I was intrigued by this topic. Then, I saw this post, and it really made me think:

Personally I like to see it as our starport just starting to be constructed.
Perhaps it was meant to be taken as lighthearted banter, but I really like the comparison. Humanity's build order, hmm? And we've only just started our Starport? If that's the case, what was our build order from the dawn of man up until now? It's an interesting idea.
~8,000 BCE: The first primitive Command Center lands in the Fertile Crescent of Africa. The ancestors of modern-day SCVs begin harvesting the land's resources, inventing agriculture. Workers continue to be produced. (The dawn of mankind.)
~3,000 BCE: The Mineral Age begins when workers first discover mineral patches near the Command Center. These minerals are used to construct tools for harvesting. Fast expansions to Egypt, Mesopotamia, and Assyria are queued.(The Bronze Age begins.)
~500 BCE: Nomadism is phased out in favor of more concrete settlements; the first Supply Depots are constructed in order to permit a higher carrying capacity in the base. Due to early Zealot harass, a Barracks is constructed for wartime capability, but not before the expansion in Rome is sent into the red, and slowly starts burning down.(Powerful empires arise in Greece and other areas. Many different religions appear over time, such as Judaism, Buddhism, and Zoroastrianism. Grand armies are assembled for the purpose of conquering other nations. The Roman Empire begins to decline.)
I'll add more to the build order later. I don't know why the idea of StarCraft --> human history appeals to me so much, but it's just an interesting idea.
(Yeah, I'm aware my historical timeline isn't too accurate. It's just a template, really.)

Fast expansion before supply depot?
I don' t think so.

development of agriculture = 1st depot imo

Don't forget that we're probably the equivalent of a E player; our first Factories only came online 250 years ago, and Siege Tanks first rolled out almost a hundred years ago. Spider Mines even came out before Siege Tech; and Charon Boosters for our Goliaths are already researched!
Oh, just for LULZ:
The Dark Ages: Manner pylons preventing mining force a stall in the build order; preventing an Academy from being built.
Middle Ages: A triggered Plague in the oversaturated mineral line reduces SCV population by 1/3rd. Academy is built by an enterprising SCV.
Enlightenment: First Marines with U-238 upgrades are built. Comsat Station reveals American expo location, SCVs are maynarded over to start a Fast Expansion.
Napoleonic Wars: Factories first get built along with mass Rax. Armies Deep 6 each other with Stim packs and low-energy medics.

LOL This is exactly why I search my name and find responses to my posts.
Cool idea, I'd like to see the rest of your timeline ^^

gna try and predict the future:
~2050 AD: Map nears mineout, both players amass huge fleets of BCs and tanks and nukes and stalemate each other, massive fight over last mineral patch brings most players down to under 10 supply and 0 scvs and not enough minerals to make new SCVs. One player sends a dropship with 4 scvs to the moon and attempts to float command center there, but it gets hit by scourge (asteroid) en route.
GG humanity

I want to see a medivac irl.
Healing some troops in some war.

Humanity's build sucks. They went factory into mass nukes before starport, all on one base(planet).
