EDIT: Due to SC not being open sourced and legal reasons, I propose creating a new game like starcraft that can be played in the browser. That means I also need a good graphics person on the team.

There are a lot of other cool demos on the web. Love the fact you can do so much stuff with just <canvas> and JS. Never used WebGL before though, I really should play with it sometime ![]()

He said if he actually tried to could double that frame rate which is enough for even sc2 to run on. Javascript computation power is supposedly ALOT better than it was previously so if it can run Quake 2 without too much lag, it should run SC BW just fine. As for networking issues, I feel like if we kept the network design as simple as possible, latency wouldn't be as much of a problem as it was in SC BW. These are just my thoughts though, let me know if u guys think otherwise

Uh, essentially, that means you'd need to reprogram the entirety of SC:BW, which was done with an entirely professional (and excellent) video game company, AKA Blizzard. I mean, it's doable, and good luck, it just seems a little bit more difficult than what you had in mind.

I've built games before so I know what kind of insane work was put into SC BW. I am sure that if a small team was able to achieve the real basics of the game play (even just creating buildings and units) it would attract a lot of people into this project. You never know what will come out of the other end when u open source things.

And have like an online chat system/meeting place, like a battle zone, or fight net, or something, so we could chat and then initiate games against each other? Even save in-game videos of our battles to show other people? I'd play that.

It's pretty raw though and plays quite differently. Makes you appreciate how amazing the original games really are.
