Thinking about starting a Weekly Pro-KoTH

First off the idea comes from the KOTH Australasia.

What is a KOTH?
King of the Hill in Starcraft terminology is "Winner Stays". Basically you get list of people and the top two players play; then the winner of that match moves on to the next player and so on.

Idea
Basically it's a best of X(poll) King of the Hill. The King Of The Hill will consist of one series a week and each series has atleast a $20 prize pool. All the games would be streamed at one specific time, whether I stream replays or cast it 100% live would be up to the players schedules. After the first series, the next person in line will be determined by a poll.

Why KOTH?
I am straying away from another tournament because a lot of the match up's I would like to see, rarely happen. I was thinking about going with a weekly show match, however it would be near impossible to have a weekly community driven show match due to all the variations.

Before I spend any more time on this thought, please vote:

Poll: Is the KOTH a Good idea?

Poll: Streaming Replays Ok?

No, I don't care about the players and only will watch if it is 100% live. (13)

52%

Yes, I just want to see the best games. (12)

Your vote: Streaming Replays Ok?

(Vote): Yes, I just want to see the best games.
(Vote): No, I don't care about the players and only will watch if it is 100% live.

Wrap Up
Post your suggestions and/or first match up request. I do have a match up in mind but if for what ever reason they do not agree to it; I will be in search of a new one.

Edit: For those of you wondering I am thinking of doing this Tuesday nights @ 7pm est (Starting Sept 7th). I generally do not see any tournaments going on at this time and the series should finish before Day9. For those who can't make it there will be VODS of the matches and replays will be released a week after each match is broadcasted.

I love KOtH, it allows you to see good matchups and varied strats that you dont always get to see in tourneys or show matches. Even if there not the best players, KoTH usually is a more "fun" environment outside of the seriousness of tourneys, so it should end up being a good night regardless. I will defiantly tune in.

There are many variations of KOTH; looking at your version it is single elimination, mine is more of a KOTH-Showmatch hybrid. If you read the OP you will notice that:

- 1 match up a week in a Best of X series.
- There will be a vote on who is up for the next week.
- It is scheduled.
- There is a prize.

So... it's whoever wins the most games wins the money or whoever's the last man standing? Cause the latter would be very unfair.

Every single "KOTH Round", there is a prize money. Every week it will be two players, playing in a "show match"; the winner of that match gets $20 and advances to the next week. So every week you will only see two players playing; one of those players is the previous winner, the other is voted in via a public TL Poll. Basically, they get money whenever they eliminate a player; there is no "grand prize winner".

This method should give us a quality series every week of a match up that may rarely occur in a tournament.

If i ever get outside funding the prize pool will most likely be up'd and it will occur 2-3 times a week, instead of just 1.

The problem with forcing it to be live is that the current King would have to ensure that time slot is free on Tuesdays. As this is global; the time slot may not be ideal for everyone, especially pro's whom have jobs, tournaments, etc to participate in. I have nothing better to do Tuesday nights so I figured this would be a good "show", and don't want to inconvenience any pro to pull it off. I could have it float around and just do the show when the pro's are available however then I could unknowingly: Hijack a tournament, people miss out on the live event, or mess up my circadian rhythm. Replay or not; the games will be live to myself and the public.

I plan to have the first map be custom (that is voted); than loser picks from a map pool.
